Amazon.com Product Description
Entertainment and sharing to go. That's the Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player. The Zune plays music and videos, displays images, and unlike the iPod, it even receives FM radio so you can stay on top of local news or sports. Designed around the principles of sharing, discovery, and community, Zune connects people and empowers them with the tools needed to share entertainment experiences. The Zune experience is centered around connection--connection to your library, friends, community, and other Zunes. It's powered by software that allows users to manage files on the player, rip audio CDs, and buy from a wide selection of music and videos at the Zune Marketplace.
The Zune lets you share music and pictures with other Zune users in the area.
The controls are designed to be familiar and easy to use so you can jump right in and start having fun. View larger.
Zune software can find compatible music files on your PC and copy them to your Zune device.
Wireless Zune-to-Zune sharing lets you share your favorite tracks and photos.
Browse more than 100,000 artist bios and hundreds of playlists in the Zune Marketplace.
The Zune is a 30 GB digital media player, but there's a twist. You can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures, or your own home-grown tunes directly from Zune to Zune (within 30 feet). You can listen to the full-length songs that you receive up to three times in three days, flag the ones you love, and easily buy them the next time you sync up--its like test-driving songs before you purchase an album.
The Zune's navigation is simple and intuitive with a scroll wheel and basic buttons, and the big, bright screen makes it easy to browse music and show off your favorite pictures and videos. This attractive, smart device stores up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 pictures, or 100 hours of video. Get creative. Make playlists on the go and watch slide shows while you're listening. And if you're watching video on the Zune, you'll be pleased with the landscape mode that allows you to get the most out of the vivid display.
Zune-to-Zune Sharing Don't forget the primary principle of the Zune: sharing. With this device in hand you're holding an opportunity to share music and photos wirelessly from one Zune to another. Send your favorite tracks or images to your friends, or just about anyone with a Zune that's within your reach.
Whether you're walking down the street, in a room with a bunch of friends, at a concert, at the airport, or on the bus, you can whip out your Zune and see all the other Zune devices that surround you. In the blink of an eye you're connected to your best friend and you can send over your band's newest song. Another friend might get the hilarious podcast your little brother made at school, plus that hot new song you just downloaded from the Zune Marketplace. And, of course, there's all the good stuff that your friends want to send back your way. The connections are made and the Zune community grows.
Best of all, the song you sent (or received) isn't a short 30-second preview--it's the whole song. Your friend can sample the song up to three times in three days, flag it on their device and then buy it from the Zune Marketplace. You can send pictures, too. If you loved the photo of your dog at the park and you just have to share it with your buddies, shoot it off to whoever is around. And any pictures that are sent or received can be kept and viewed indefinitely.
Sometimes you don't want to be noticed, and the Zune allows you to fly under the radar. All you need to do is turn the wireless function off, or adjust the privacy settings to control whether people can see you are online. And if you want to keep your Zune private while studying in the library or reading the newspaper on the bus, you can also block Zune devices in wireless range from sending you a song.
Zune Marketplace Zune makes it easy to find music you love--whether it's songs in your existing library or new music from the Zune Marketplace. You can easily import your existing music, pictures, and videos in many popular formats from your PC and browse millions of songs at the Zune Marketplace where you can purchase individual tracks or buy a Zune Pass subscription to download as many songs as you want for a flat fee. Plus, you can apply Microsoft Points towards the purchase of music so you can buy online without a credit card for added security. At the Zune Marketplace you can read over 100,000 artist biographies and features from leading magazines including XLR8R, NME, and FADED, and you'll have easy access to Billboard Charts, including Billboard 200, Hot 100 Songs, and more. You'll even be able to browse what people in the Zune community are listening to by checking out the Zune Charts.
Pre-Loaded Content Zune is a vehicle to explore new sounds and share entertainment experiences. With that in mind, the Zune comes pre-loaded with a variety of songs and videos from hot, new artists, as well as some fun films and images. With something for everyone, the pre-loaded Zune content may help you discover your new favorite band, but at the very least you'll have some entertainment at your fingertips so you can start connecting and sharing. Zune pre-loaded content includes loads of audio tracks, music videos, and film shorts, plus 12 classic rock posters from "Art of Modern Rock: The Poster Explosion."
Zune Accessories You can choose from a full line of accessories to outfit your Zune. These three Zune Accessory Packs provide complete solutions for Zune in your car, in your home or while you travel. Individual accessories are also available.
The Zune Car Pack includes everything needed to hit the road with a Zune device, such as the built-in FM tuner with AutoSeek and the Zune Car Charger.

Hmmm, very deceiving .......2007-07-02
Well I was very excited to buy this anti i-pod product because I am not a very big fan of apple, but I do love to listen to music and want something that can fit my entire collection. But immediately when I started downloading the software for the Zune, I was met with unfortunate results. Every time I started downloading the software it hit an error message and told me to reboot and try again. Next try same thing, after about an hour or so I go to there official website, no help there. And now I have decided that this player would be a lot better if it supported easier plug and play compatibility's. Bill gates..... you sure dropped the ball on this one. The only reason that it got 2 stars is because I have seen this thing at a friends house (and it was working) And I do know that this can be a truly amazing piece of hardware. Right now I am leaving to take this back to my local store.
Zune is cool but not quite an Ipod killer.......2007-07-02
I got htis because I have already went thru 2 Ipods and was curious to what the Zune could do. IMO, it's similar to the ipod but a bit easier to navigate, the larger screen is nice as well as the FM tuner. It's sturdier and doesn't attract a lot of scratches which is a big plus.
My only gripes are as follows:
- No Mac support
- Zune mktplace is a beast using the synch sometimes U have to go thru a few times to make sure the playlist saves correctly
- No PODCAST SUPPORT...hopefully this will be fixed
One thing I DO like is that the software does a somewhat better job of organizing music than iTunes which really goes a long way finding music that I forgot I put on my pc.
If you want something different...go for it, it's not a bad device by far but it needs some fine tuning and in about a year it could probably compete with the ipod.
Do Not Buy.......2007-07-02
Worst piece of crap i ever had to deal with. Returned it within 2 days. First of all why would i buy this or and a 30Gb ipod when i could buy a Zen. A Zen is EXACTLY the same except it has a Radio, Microphone, Higher Resolution Screen, 60Gb's which is twice the ammount of space, from Amazon and for only 20 dollars more. Trust me go with one of those it blows this and the iPod out of the water. Zen Vision:M 60G. Look it up.
I Love My ZUNE !!.......2007-07-02
I did some research on the Zune and IPOD and I just like how the Zune was much more easy to use and has a bigger screen, to me, the Ipod is all hype, shure there is more out there for the ipod, but over all, I just love my zune and there is more coming out for it starting next year, battery life is very long and has a 30gig drive....also the FM tuner works great! ahh...if you cant decide on Zune or Ipod, goto a store that has both on display and try them both out, you will find that the Zune navigates much better. I reccomend the Zune!!!
I am in love with my Zune.......2007-07-01
I think that my purchase of a Zune as a wonder decision. I love the marketplace, the set up, and how easy it is to use it. Great picture quality, and size for the screen. My only issue is that when you hook it up to a car the zune isn't loud enough to hear unless your car stereo is at full blast. Otherwise, I recommend it over the IPod.

Customer Reviews:
Great value for the price.......2007-07-02
I recently bought two of these for my children (7 and 5) as they finished the school year. I loaded up about 80 songs into them and got familiar with the menus, features and functionality. Sound quality is pretty good, the screen is useful and easy to see in the daylight. I was surprised just how easy they were to use. They are inexpensive enough that it won't be a major problem to replace them if they get lost or broken. While there are many players with far more features and space for music, this player was simple enough for my children to use, and the price was right. It's been extremely quiet around my house lately now that they are plugged in!
Works great!.......2007-07-01
Got this for my mom. She's not into Ipods and didn't want to spend to much money. It's great and easy to use!
Great for audio books.......2007-06-30
I got this MP3 player speciffically for audio books that I can download from the public library site. Unfortunately, they cannot be downloaded to my Ipod, so I got this cheap MP3 player for the books. I have had it for about 9 months and have had no problems at all with it. It works great and one AAA battery lasts at least 10 to 12 hours. I would defintley recommend.
Why would you waste your money when you could have this?.......2007-06-28
I really don't understand why people are so attached to Ipods and Zunes when this is equally as great but at a much more affordable price! I bought this for my husband and we've both agreed that it was well worth its price and can't believe how great of a deal we got! Yeah, it doesn't hold a ton of music, but we convert to WMA, and 16 hours is good enough! Its easy to delete and put more on (especially with a 2.0 USB port)! I cannot stress enough how this is such a great buy!
I did some research on FM transmitters (because many of them would not work with his car). I went on ebay and found eforcity.com had a generic digital transmitter listed to work with Sansa, and thought, "why not?" since it was only $4!!! It works great and I couldn't be happier! Oh, and just in case you're wondering, I added in about the transmitter for those with similar issues!

Customer Reviews:
GREAT - BUT DON'T BUY FOR THE FM RADIO.......2007-07-02
I did not want to spend the money for a ipod. This mp3 player had everything i wanted. It had a fm radio with fm recorder. I can replace the battery. You can store pictures and video. I have not tried this. It also has a voice recorder. The FM radio has poor reception but I read that the ear plugs are an antenna. If you move it the reception becomes clearer. I find this cumbersome. I purchased mainly for storing music. You can also add memory.
I did have trouble when I down loaded the software. It froze everyday. I was ready to ship it back. I called customer service and a nice rep walked me through reformatting. I have not had any problem since.
I am 55 years old and had some trouble using windows media player. After using media player a few times, I had no problem downloading files. I do get some errors in the media player but I believe it is a windows issue since i get codec errors once in awhile. I purchased a case to protect and keep scratch free.
The only negative thing i can think of is the reception on the FM radio. I would like to see AM on mp3 players because I listen to sports but I don't think that there are plans for this.
Playlist Creation Is Impossible.......2007-07-02
I bought this last year and it seems impossible to create the Playlist. Needless to say, this never gets used as I don't have the time to selectively pick out songs. I should have spent the extra money on the iPod. The time I spent trying to get Playlist to work is worth more than the iPod price difference.
whats going on!.......2007-06-30
i got this sandisk as my first mp3 ever in december,at chritmas. it worked beautifully when i got it,till about march. then, suddenly,it stopped taking songs or charging. i then bought another charger, which stopped working within a few days. i was annoyed and surprized. when the battery ran out it just shut off(because it couldnt be charged) and now it dosnt work. NEVER AGAIN. i'm sticking to the ipod now.
Locked up.......2007-06-30
Never did get to use it. Loaded the firmware updater on my computer and restarted. Info showed new firmware. Updated itself and said to disconnect and reboot the mp3 player, so I did. Never came back.
ERROR MESSAGE: Failed to load main screen, switch to system recovery.
Nothing happens it is locked up. No info in user guide and nothing on the website. Worst part is I bought it for a trip to drowned out my wifes family. Guess I will be listening to boring chatter instead of music this trip.
At least admit your products have problems and offer people solutions, Don't just give an email address and RMA #'s that someone might respond to in a week. Offer these solutions where people can read them and fix something or return it right away. I hate that issues have to be dragged out.
This screen I got is obviously there for a reason, Do I need to switch to recovery mode? Will it do it automatically if you let it run for several hours? It is in the basic program you should cover it.
To discredit the product would be unfair because I never used it, but the manufactuer needs to admit problems and address them in a place people have access to.
Sansa e250.......2007-06-29
For those who choose not to pay ridiculous prices for the iPod family of MP3 players, this is the product for you. Easy to use and upgradable Micro SD memory for a total of 4GB. Sound quality is awesome; earphones are comfortable; picture quality is very good though small; FM Stereo picks up many station in the local area even inside the building I work in where signals are usually hard to pick up. The e250 also offers voice and video features that I have not yet delved into. I even bought one for a Christamas gift last year. Great product!

Customer Reviews:
Great on paper -- but I just sent it back after trying it for two days.......2007-07-03
This thing looks great but sounds and works poorly. I did a lot of research before purchasing and I thought this was the player to get (I wouldn't touch Apple, especially since radio is important to me). It had everything I wanted plus 8 gigs of (expandable) memory. But after learning how to use it, loading it up with music, pics and videos, and trying it for two days I sent it back. Pros and cons:
PROS:
- Great (expandable) capacity at a great price. Comparable Samsung and Creative products don't come close to holding this much music, video, etc. There's a reason after all why memory is the number one selling point for MP3 players.
- Good screen. Not as nice as the Samsung T9 (which is amazing), but still pretty nice. Video and photos look good as long as you're looking from straight ahead.
- Good tactile control. I really like the scroll wheel, which makes it easy to quickly cycle through menus and hundreds of songs. With the Creative Zen V Plus and the Samsung T9 you're at the mercy of the joystick or button.
- FM radio that's recordable. This is important to me. I passed on the Creative because it doesn't record radio. I wouldn't even consider an iPod because it has no radio at all (!!!).
- User-replacable battery.
- User interface is fast. That's important. A big strike against the Samsung is that it takes 3-4 seconds just to skip to the next song. When it comes right down to it, usability is key.
CONS:
- FM reception is bad. I live in a large city with lots of powerful FM stations that come in clear as day on every radio I've ever used. But not with this thing. Listening to FM is like listening to someone crumple a plastic bag.
- Recording functions are lame. The FM record level is so low that even at full playback volume it's hard to hear the recording while on the train(which is OK because it just records lots of static anyway). The voice recording lacks sensitivity.
- Scratches easily. I was as careful as I could be with my new toy, and my first day taking it out of the house it still got 4 or 5 small scratches on the front before I even got to work in the morning. Those little scratches are clearly visible and distort the light. I can only imagine what it would look like after a few months.
- User interface is just adequate. Wanna make a playlist on the fly? Good luck, because you have to play each song first in order to add it to the list. Wanna cue up the next song while listening to something else? Good luck, because I couldn't find any way to do that very basic function (if it's there it's not readily apparent). There are plenty of other quirks. All in all, it looks cool but isn't that easy to use.
- The four outside buttons are a pain. Control wheel is great. Buttons around the control wheel? Not so great.
- It's not large, but it is larger than its competitors. The Samsung T9 is 1/2 inch shorter and about 35% thinner. The Creative Zen V Plus is thicker but also much shorter. The iPod nano is of course much, much thinner and lighter.
- Volume is lacking. Even with MP3s that I know have high volume, the e280 can sometimes require turning up the volume very high to get the sound you want.
- Editing MP3 tag information does no good once your files are loaded onto the machine.
So........overall I was disappointed and I thank Amazon for taking it back and refunding my money. The e280 is much better to talk about than to actually use. If FM and recording performance isn't important to you then you should add one star to this review.
And here's a tip if you do buy the e280 -- make sure the ID tag info on your MP3s is in order BEFORE you load up the machine. Because changing the tag info once the machine is loaded up won't make the album, artist and song menus any better. Do it first.
Liked it so much we bought 2.......2007-06-30
My wife wanted a music player but not an iPod. A friend recommended the SanDisk and an Internet search reinforced it. She has been very happy with it...clear sound, good bass, easy to use, holds plenty of music, durable so far. The only negative comment is that the off switch is a bit hard to use. We bought a second one just like the first for our daughter who is 13 and she is happy with hers as well.
It Works!.......2007-06-29
Rhapsody makes total sense to me, you get access to TONS of great music for a reasonable monthly fee... great at work and home and you are in total control of what you listen to. Now how do you get it in the car? The Sansa.
Looked at ipod, but itunes was a joke! A buck for a song that's compatible with Apple stuff only? I have thousands of songs from Rhapsody, so am I gonna pay thousands for the itunes files? Nope!
The Sansa replicates your core Rhapsody songs (2000 at time!) on a portable device so you can listen in the car... just what I needed!
I have not used long enough to give five stars, but seems to be the real deal.
Sansa e280, a convenient Mp3 player.......2007-06-26
I just received my SanDisk Sansa e280 with 8 G of memory, and I am happy to say it is very convenient to use.
I at first read reviews about it, and was a little worried, but after having it in my hands, I have to say my worries were not needed. My worries were:
-The battery would not be easily replaceable
-The parts would be expensive and not available and most stores
-The player would not play when I was charging it
But after working with it for a while, I learned that these worries were not problems at all:
-The battery can be replaced by unscrewing the back and placing it in and replacing the crews (this takes maybe up to a minute at most).
-The parts for these players (for example, spare batteries or charging chords) are sold in most office supplies and electronics stores, so if I need another part while I am traveling, I can grab it right away and not wait for the part in the mail.
-The player can be charged almost anywhere, from your computer, your car, or a wall socket if you get the adapter set for it. When you charge it in your car or from the wall, you can still listen to music too! It is when you dock your player to the computer you cannot play music, but of course, when I have it docked to my computer, it is only to put more music on it.
Plus I found other convenient points with this Sansa e280:
-The Rhapsody program for putting my music onto the player is very quick. It only takes about a minute to two minutes to put a whole CD onto the player (and note that your files that you use with Windows Media Player program do transfer easily to Rhapsody).
-It's size is perfect. It is thick enough to feel like that it won't slip out of my hand (which is important to me because I have had problems with that with past Mp3 players). It is not heavy either, so it is convenient to carry around.
-The screen and the menus for using the player look great. The interface is very colorful and looks good. I learned very easily how to use the player. The light up wheel was also very useful and looked great on the player below the screen.
In summary, the Sansa e280 is convenient for anyone who wants to carry around their music on a Mp3 player, and for anyone who wants a Mp3 player that is usable almost anywhere and replaceable (with its parts) in almost any electronics/office store. For those looking for alternatives to Creative Labs or iPod Mp3 players, this may be your best alternative, not just in product quality, but in price as well.
Best mp3 player in its Class!.......2007-06-23
I just received mine today. Wow! After reading a ton of online reviews I've come to the conclusion that this is by far the best mp3 player in it's class! The true competitor to this baby is the Philips GoGear, not the iPod nano because the iPod nano doesn't have nearly as much features, isn't as reliable, a pain to transfer files, and is more expensive! iPods are extremely over-rated. Yet the Sansa e280 is better looking than both imo and has a larger display!
Its simple:
- Awesome sound
- Sexy design
- Easy control!
- Great display
- Radio Tuner (nano does not have)
- Voice Record (nano does not have)
- Video Playback (nano does not have)
- No painful software required, just drag and drop! (nano does not have)
- Compatible with any music/video format! (nano is very limited)
This is in my honest opinion the best mp3 player on the market in it's class! That is ofcourse untill the 8gb Meizu is released. However, if your looking for something with a bigger HD and have the money to spend, look into Creative Zen.

Product Description
Take it here, there and anywhere. The compact brushed silver WS-300M is equipped with 256MB of internal memory for up to 68 hours of recording time and stores up to 120 music tracks. Users can enjoy a great sense of freedom, not being bound by cables, docking station or special software, simply plug directly into any PC and you are ready to upload and download your files as you choose.
Amazon.com Product Description
Slim, attractive, and highly functional, the Olympus WS-300M digital voice recorder packs 256 MB of internal flash memory into its lightweight housing, letting you record up to 68 hours of high-quality audio in WMA format. It's ideal for recording notes or long lectures, interviewing sources for an upcoming story, or capturing spur-of-the-moment song ideas before they disappear into the air. As an added bonus, the WS-300M can store up to 66 WMA or MP3 songs for high-quality stereo playback, letting you listen to your favorite tunes between (or during) classes or while waiting in line at the DMV. All this in a tiny body that measures 1.5 inches wide by 3.73 inches tall--roughly the size of a pack of gum.
The WS-300M features five separate file folders capable of holding 199 files each, so you can organize nearly 1,000 files by subject, theme, or other categories. Users also have the choice of four recording modes: HQ, which minimizes background noise and is great for recording people with low speaking voices; LP and SP modes that offer extended recording times; and the unique Stereo HQ mode, which makes two-channel recordings. And thanks to the voice activation option, users don't need to press a single button to start recording. The WS-300M will instead record as soon as the built-in microphone picks up sound.
Perhaps the most convenient feature, however, is the built-in USB connector. To attach the WS-300M to a PC, all you need to do is remove one end of the recorder's body, which reveals a male USB plug. This USB Direct design eliminates the need for a USB cable (the male plug connects directly to your computer), making the device even more portable. Once connected, you can download music files, images, or documents, in effect turning the recorder into a small hard drive, or you can transfer voice recordings to your computer for storage or multimedia use.
The unit also offers built-in WOW sound enhancement to produce rich, three-dimensional audio with a nice bass component. Additional audio improvements include a user-selectable equalizer that lets you tailor the sound to your taste or environment, along with Olympus's innovative noise-canceling technology, which makes the audio even clearer by removing unwanted hiss and background noise. You can even adjust the built-in stereo microphone's recording level to meet your needs.
Every bit as important are the playback functions, which include fast (50 percent) and slow (25 percent) playback, random play, and repeat play. And should you need to identify and quickly retrieve important sound bites, all you need to do is insert an index mark and refer to it later. Additional features include a locking function, which keeps important data from being erased; an easy-to-read, backlit, full-dot LCD; and a pair of stereo headphones.
What's in the Box WS-300M digital voice recorder, stereo earphone, one AAA battery, USB cable, user's manual.

Good.......2007-06-26
It's does what it is supposed to, which is refreshing.
Lite, quick, easy, powerful and doesn't chew on battery power.
wonderful recorder.......2007-06-25
i use this recorder to record lectures at school. it's perfect. very easy to use - i plug right into my laptopn when i want to transfer files which is very convenient. the sound quality is amazing and there is plenty of storage space on it for my needs. i highly recommend it!
Definitely DOES WORK with Macintosh.......2007-06-18
Just wanted state emphatically that this device does work on the Mac platform, and works well. Plug it into a USB port and it shows up as a drive on your desktop. The sound files it generates are indeed WMA, but they can then be converted to other formats in a snap within QuickTime, iTunes, etc. Terrific little machine for voice recordings. Stereo sound quality is fantastic, and even better with the optional ME-51S stereo extension microphone.
Disappointing Sound.......2007-06-14
I love this little voice recorder for many reasons, but no matter what I do, including purchasing a special stereo microphone and recording in the highest quality stereo mode, I can't get any reasonable volume out of it. I had hoped that the problem was in its small speaker, but I experience the same weak volume even when I transfer the material to my pc and turn up the speakers. A second related problem is that there is always a slight hissing in the background. I though I'd lose this annoyance by going from tape to digital, but not so. As a result, recording night sounds (peepers, tree frogs, crickets and other insects) is hugely disappointing.
Unless I bought a defective unit, I'd say that all the wonderful features are wasted because, at the end of the day, you can barely hear what you've recorded.
The worst Service ever at Olympus. This product does NOT work with MAC.......2007-06-13
An Olympus service rep literally hung up on me after 32 minutes of technical support on one of your products. I must say I am completely disappointed with their service and misleading advertising.
Your product WS300 claims to record and upload to mac's by just plugging into the usb. Well that's not the case. The files are only downloadable in WMA. Which is not Mac compatible and the third party software is not given to you to convert. It needs to be purchased.
Well, I'd like you to know that after having your sales rep hang up on me during tech support, and your misleading product information.
Wow, I thought Olympus was a professional, obviously not.
I called back to speak with a manager at the call center his name was Mark #4040. He said he would look into the situation. He did not want to address my concern directly and he passed me to another sales rep, who again new nothing about my complaint. And did'nt care. As far as I know they were passing me to their friends. Nobody documented the conversation, it was so unbelievably unproffessional.
This is the worst service ever. And I will return this product and never purchase an Olympus product again.
Don't buy this product if you have a mac. It does'nt work.

Amazon.com Product Description
The latest in SanDisk's audio line, the SanDisk SDMX7-2048 Sansa c250 2 GB MP3 Player is a flash-based player that provides you with everything you need to play your favorite music, enjoy your best photos, and listen to your preferred FM radio stations. This MP3 player is rich in functionality yet still totally affordable, and features a compact color-screen with an amazingly easy-to-use interface.
The SanDisk Sansa c250 is able to play MP3, WMA, WAV, and protected WMA DRM (digital rights management) music files. The screen on the c250 can exhibit up to 64,000 colors, and lets you choose to display album cover art for the current song via ID3 tag support, or photo thumbnails that you have downloaded to your player. The Sansa supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, and GIF as import media types, and lets you create a slideshow out of your downloaded pictures, allowing you to tell a wordless story. The intuitive interface makes sorting through and playing back music a snap, while the built-in digital FM tuner lets you not only listen to new music via the radio, but 20 programmable presets let you identify your favorite radio stations and cycle between them with the press of a button. And as if that weren't enough, SanDisk's Sansa c250 also lets you record FM radio on the fly so you can save favorite programs for later, and since this unit includes a built-in microphone, you have the capacity to record external audio as well for when you want that clip from a concert, or you need to be able to go back and listen to parts of a presentation or lecture at a later date.
The Sansa c250 MP3 player has two gigabytes of built-in flash memory that allows you to store up to 500 songs (16 hours of playback) in 128 kpbs MP3 format, or up to 1,000 songs (32 hours of playback) via the WMA's 64 kbps encoding level. This unit supports subscription music stores so you can easily purchase and download new music to your player, and features a digital equalizer that has five presets, including normal, rock, jazz, classic, and pop, as well as one customizable equalizer setting. The c250 uses a high-speed USB 2.0 connection for fast file transfers from your computer, and includes a MicroSD slot for reading MicroSD cards with additional content on them, effectively expanding your memory capacity infinitely. This player also features a hold switch that prevents any accidental operation or changes in settings during transit.
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery that comes with this MP3 player allows for hours and hours of music playtime before needing to be recharged, and is removable so you can always buy a spare in case you are going on an extra long trip where you won't have consistent access to power outlets. The c250 requires Windows XP with SP1, Windows Media Player 10 or greater, a CD-ROM drive, and an open USB 2.0 port in order to take full advantage of all its features. The SDMX7-2048 Sansa c250 comes in a stylish black that not only looks good, but makes you look good with it, and is backed by a manufacturer's limited 1-year warranty.
What's in the Box Sansa c250 MP3 player, 1 x pair of earphones, 1 x USB cable, 1 x lanyard, a CD with a user's manual and Sansa media converter software, a quick start guide, and 1 x rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Customer Reviews:
Ipod Nano, eat your heart out..........2007-06-19
OK. I've seen some of the other reviews for this product, and a few people have mentioned problems with the backlighting and contrast, but I don't have that problem. I have now owned my player three weeks, and I LOVE IT!
This player has incredibly simple menus to follow, the display is adequate for most people who will only use this to listen to music. I've had no problems with the display which does a fairly good job with the photos I've loaded onto it. The song text is in black against a light blue field which makes it easy to see at all times.
Straight out of the box, my Windows XP systems instantly recognized the device and installed the appropriate drivers. I did have a problem (at first) with getting my laptop (running Vista Home Basic) to recognize the device, but I realized that this was due to the fact that I had the player set in the wrong USB mode (it needs to be in MSC mode for Vista to recognize the device) Once I changed the mode to MSC (through the player's settings menu), all of my systems recognize it every time - without a single problem.
I like the fact that you can change the battery in the player quickly and easily, unlike an Ipod, and that it has an expandable Micro SD slot, which the manufacturer says you can only upgrade by 1 GB. If you buy this, go ahead and spring for the Micro SD card so that you prevent dust and dirt from getting into the slot; you'll also expand the room you have available on the player. I just received my $20.00, 2GB (that's right - 2 GB) expansion card from NewEgg.com today, and again, I popped it into my player, which connects to desktop/laptops through a provided USB cable, and it was instantly recognized by my work system as a separate drive.
Other reasons to like this player is the fact that it features a voice recorder, an FM tuner, an adjustable equalizer with presets (I set mine with a custom setting which sounds better than the presets)and it lets you record FM radio. Try THAT with an Ipod... Did I mention that it will let you plays songs downloaded from the most popular services (another thing Ipod can't do), in addition to .wmv and mp3 files?
A couple of people in other reviews have mentioned investing in a new pair of earbuds, which I would agree with if you're a serious audiophile, but again, for most people, the earbuds it ships with should more than fit the bill.
The only thing this player really lacks is the storage capacity that some other players on the market have. That's ok though, because at bit rate of 128 kbps per song, you can fit up to 1,000 songs. I doubled my 2 GB capacity with the Micro SD card, giving the player a total capacity of 4 GB. Since I use only high bit rate (160 kbps and better) audio, and I have about 450 songs - with plenty of room left over for my work files and photos.
If you're looking for an economical, sturdy mp3 player this is the one. The price makes this a great gift for any occasion year-round, and for the money, you're not going to find a better value anywhere else on the market.
Worked for 2 weeks, then..........2007-06-16
Had the player for 2 weeks and was great, but then the left audio decided to stop working. I thought it was the headphones, and tried another pair and had the same problem, but then it worked again. I see that other reviewers have had the same issue.
***UPDATE***
I am updating this review because I found out that the head phones that I owned stopped working (on the left side!). I tried them in my laptop and the left audio would not work there either. I used other earphones, earbuds - and they work fine. So, can't say that it is the Sansa's fault.
It won't let me change the star rating. I would give it a 4 out of 5.
great product.......2007-06-08
great sound quality and easy to use. Much nicer than my m230(older) Sandisk mp3 player.
Excatly what I wanted.......2007-06-07
This MP3 players holds a lot of songs and the battery has a long life. For my long flights I plug is and tune out all the plane noise. I did purchase noise-reduction headphones because I do not like earbuds.
I'm returning this player and getting Iaudio U20.......2007-06-03
I'm returning this player because
-- It only arranges music by id tags. It's really bad if you have music from different sources, and ripped without tags. I'd like to have access using normal folders.
-- Almost impossible to create playlists on a computer... I've tried for hours using different scripts.
-- No support for international characters in mp3 tags
Other features are pretty good, e.g. you can connect it as a flash drive, read/write, use sd card, resume after off, etc...

Excellent first MP3 player!.......2007-06-30
The Sandisk Sansa Express is really easy to operate, has great sound quality (matched with your own earphones, ones included suck), an amazing number of categories and subcategories to sort your music. You can't beat it for a first-ever mp3 player.
Shuffle problems? Read this review.......2007-06-28
OK, I'm copping out on a full review. My main purpose here is to tell you how to fix the Shuffle problem that I and many others have been experiencing. You won't find this in any Sansa docs, so here goes...
First you pick your music category (usally All, but you may pick a particular playlist or Album as well). Then you turn on the Repeat All feature. Then you turn on the Shuffle feature. You *must* do it in this order or it won't work.
After that you should get random shuffling without any repeats or "favorite" songs coming up over and over again. This trick worked for me and I hope it works for you as well. I returned an Express then spent a lot of frustrating time figuring this out when the second one had the same behavior. Sansa deserves a real bashing for this oversight in documentation but otherwise their player is top-notch.
A disappointment.......2007-06-28
The unit is sleek, attractive, has a great sound. Easy to use - that is, if you can get it to work. The first unit I bought quit working after about 24 hours. Fully charged and loaded with music (that took me hours). So, I took it back to the store and got a replacement. Brought it home, charged it up for three or four hours. Spent another hour or so loading music into for my daughter. She loved it -- until it quit working about two days later. Same problem. I can't find anything on the Sansa website that suggests how to fix the problem. It won't take a charge. It won't reset. It's just dead. We'll start looking for another brand.
You can't beat it for the money........2007-06-27
I have owned the Sansa Expresss for over a month and am quite happy with it. I bought it mainly to use with Audible Book downloads and it works seamlessly with Audible software. But I also have used it for music and just to store a file like a memory stick/flash drive. Sound quality is largely a function of the ear buds or headphones that are used with it. The ones that come with it are junk but better quality ones make the experience just fine. The screen is difficult to read in bright light and twice when I start it it was stuck on the opening screen. I don't use a lanyard but attaching it to the USB cap end seems like a dumb design, even though the cap fits nice and snug, I'd be afraid it would fall off.But for the money? You can't beat it.

Amazon can't get their act together.......2007-06-30
I would love to rate the product but since Amazon can't get their act together and ship the product I will have to wait.
Got an e-mail on 25 June that the item had shipped, they didn't actually ship it until the 29th of June.
The item shipped from Capital Heights, MD at the Amazon warehouse (60 miles from my house) but Amazon sent it to New Port News, Va (160 miles from my house) now I have to wait even longer to get the items I paid to have shipped. Called Amazon for assistance and they are sorry (Yeah right) but they don't offer to fix their mistakes "Sorry we can't help but we apreciate your business and look forward to your next purchase" Ha doubt I will buy from Amazon again.
Exactly as advertized........2007-06-26
Case is a little smaller than I would like--but of course I like to carry a lot of stuff. Priced well.
A must have for your Sansa.......2007-06-14
This is a great deal for under $20 for all you get and the quality is top notch.
A Good Investment.......2007-06-13
If you have one of the Sansa E200 series players then this travel kit is a very good investment. This kit contains several items but the 3 most useful components are the semi-hard case, the soft case (glove) and the protective shield for your display.
The semi-hard case is made out of a material that, at least, looks and feels like thick leather. On the inside one side of the case is lined with a dense foam that will absorb a good deal of shock to protect your player. The other side of the inside has a cargo net pocket to store your ear buds or whatever. The foam has a notch in it so that you can put your player inside with the ear buds still plugged in. The double zipper on the case can be zipped is such a way as to close the case but still allow the wire for your ear buds to exit the case. This is great for being able to listen to your player while it is in your backpack, pocket or where ever and still keep it protected. If you have the soft case on the player it will still fit comfortably inside the semi-hard case.
The next thing is the soft case. This is like one of those form-fitting leather cases made for a non-folding cell phone. It has all the proper cut-outs for head sets, power plug and the operation of all controls. All controls that is except one. The velco strap at the top of the case goes directly over the control lock switch. You can not operate this switch without first undoing the strap. It's a minor flaw but an annoyance to me because of a problem that I have with the E280 player. You can read my review of the E280 if you want to know what that problem is. I don't know where else they would have put this strap but is is an inconvience, at least for me. The controls on the E200 series are a little recessed and not real handy for big-fisted people like me but when you put the soft case on the player, the controls on the front of the player are a little more difficuly to manipulate. It's not bad, it just makes it a little harder for my fat fingers to access the controls.
The last item is the small rectangle of plastic film that comes with the kit. You simply take it out of the package and place it over the view screen and it sticks. This makes for excellent scratch protection for your view screen. It is simple and cheap and it works. They sell this screen protector seperately so if the travel case isn't your thing then I would highly recommend getting one of the protector screens seperately.
This kit also comes with an elastic band the will go through a loop on the back of both the semi-hard case and the soft case. I thought it a nice piece of engineering that the loop on the semi-hard case is made with a velcro sizing strip that will expand to make threading the elastic band through the loop a lot easier. You can also attach the loop to other things besides the elastic band that are a different size or shape.
The way I use my E280, I usually only have the soft case (and the protector screen) on the player because that is all I need. I generally just carry my player in my shirt pocket and the soft case gives me all the protection that I need. But I very much like have the semi-hard case in case I decide to use it another way.
I highly recommend getting one of these kits if you are interested in protecting the finish on your player and protecting it from shock. If you will be traveling with your player then I believe it would be well worth the money.
Has some drawbacks.......2007-06-12
The larger zipper case is most useful for storage. The smaller case [at least the one I received] works ok on the belt. Using the buttons is difficult because the opening in the case does not line up properly. The cleaning cloth is the same grade used for optics and the screen protector is very thick, which is nice. One note on the screen protector use the cloth to clean the screen first. Any dust or dirt that gets on the adhesive will never go away. You don't want to have to replace the screen protector. They are insanely overpriced.

Amazon.com Review
In its own right, the Creative Zen Vision:M is a very capable digital audio player, video player, photo viewer, FM radio, and more. Indeed, one could go on and on about how it has the right specifications to make it a constant companion for entertainment on the go. The really big news about this device, though, is that it's the first device to boast complete compatibility with Amazon Unbox, the new digital video and music download service from Amazon.com.
The Zen Vision:M has the features, ease-of-use, and power to become your constant media companion. See the Vison:M interactive demo.
Design Let's get things out in the open. The Apple iPod is the 800-pound gorilla when it comes to the digital media player business and, unavoidably, every other device is measured against it. In most respects, the Vision:M matches up pretty well, and there are few things you may even like better. Length and width dimensions are exactly the same at 4.1 and 2.4 inches respectively. When it comes to girth, though, the iPod has the Vision:M beat; the Vision:M is .7 inches thick, while the iPod measures .4 inches. The Vision:M is slightly heavier, too. These details aside, the Vision:M feels comfortable, yet sturdy, in the hand, with curved surfaces in all the right places.
Creative takes a somewhat different approach with the Vision:M's controls, answering the iPod's Click Wheel with a vertical touch pad--which allows you to scroll up and down menus and control volume--plus four buttons that offer navigation through the user interface. The contextual menu button on the bottom right is a welcome addition, allowing you to make quick settings changes and view information about media files on the fly--functions that are more cumbersome on an iPod. Creative could have made the buttons a bit more sensitive--they require a firm press that gives an overall feeling of clunkiness to an otherwise well-designed user interface. Another annoyance is the touch pad's over-sensitivity; it's easy to make selections unintentionally, sending you on a wild ride through the user interface.
The Vision:M's screen, which measures 2.5 inches diagonally, offers sharp details, vibrant color, and excellent response with little or no video ghosting during high-action sequences. The 320 x 240 resolution is to be expected from a device this size, and although it's small, you'll likely have no trouble enjoying video while you're sitting on the subway or a flight, or in the back-seat of a car. Our only nitpick was the screen's less than stellar viewing angle, especially when compared side-by-side with a video iPod. While this can be good for maintaining privacy, the narrow viewing angle also means that friends beside you will struggle to see anything other than a black screen.
Music, Videos, Photos, and More The Vision:M's music organization scheme is standard fare; you can browse playlists, artists, tracks, albums, and genres. Equalizer settings are robust, with a nice range of automatic settings, plus a custom equalizer that's easy to control. The music library's "DJ" function is a nice touch, allowing you to listen to your most popular tracks. It can also pull up the tunes you listen to least frequently--in case you've got some forgotten tunes lying around on the Vision:M's 60 GB hard drive. Sound quality is everything you'd expect from a top shelf digital audio player, and DRM'd Windows Media files played without a hitch. The device fully supports a whole range of "PlaysForSure" download and subscription services, such as Napster and Yahoo Music. Creative also ships a CD-ripping and music transfer application called MediaSource with the Vision:M.
Playback of Windows Media DRM'd video files (WMV9) was also hassle-free. Purchased videos delivered crisp colors and detail, with no frame drops. Video playback consumes a lot of power, bringing Creative's claim of four hours of video playback into serious doubt. Expect under three hours when watching videos continuously. Thankfully, if you need to come back to your video later the Vision:M's software remembers the timecode of where you left off--unless you power the device down between viewing sessions. In addition to protected and unprotected WMV files, the Vision:M can play MPEG 1/2/4, Motion-JPEG, DivX 4 and 5, and XviD formats, making it a very flexible device with respect to encoding options.
The Vision:M can also store thousands of photos, letting
