Good Scanner, not so much for Mac Users.......2007-07-02

OK, I like this product, I really do. The quality is pretty decent, it's not too slow, it's pretty easy to use. All good things. My quibbles are with the software for Mac users, or I should say, the lack thereof. All of the software that is advertised for this product is for Windows ONLY. It says that it is compatible for Mac OS X, but you have to download the drivers from the Pentax website (which is fine) but the drivers to not operate the button on the scanner, it is non-operational with Macs, and it does not include PageManager 7, so you CANNOT make PDF files with it alone, that it advertises.

Amazon's page says, "One touch of the button on the DSmobile 600 will launch your choice of compatible scanning programs. Make a preferred scanning program your default and that one touch will initiate that program." It should indicate that this applies to Windows users ONLY. If you do a little digging on Pentax's website it says it won't work. So, while this scanner is good, you need your own software, like Photoshop or other design software (or even Word:Mac) to use it.

BUYER BEWARE!! I'm not saying I regret the purchase entirely, I just don't thin it's fair that I paid for software I did not get. The 3 stars is for the software only, the scanner itself is really nice.

Great portable scanner.......2007-06-29

I like the convenience of this especially for travel and at home when you need a quick scan for a receipt or email. It's so easy to use and convenient - the only thing I don't like is that the blank space around or following whatever you scan is black. All my other scanners have white space around it - so the images look different. Not a big deal considering the convenience. Great product - hey - no power cord either - just the scanner and a USB cord - very nice.

I was looking for a travel scanner that was easy to operate, scans clearly with color, and very durable for the travel. I found it...this is it! Excellent scanner....the one button operation makes this an even better device than what I expected. Clear scans to a PDF file, and easily stores in my computer case (no extra hands needed). I highly recommend this scanner to anyone who is on the go, and needs a scanner to keep up with them. The price is very reasonable, and seems to be better than the more expensive models. A+

Great scanner, but get the drivers from the web.......2007-06-23

I set this scanner up with the supplied disk and it worked for a short time and then would not re-install. I removed that driver and downloaded the Vista driver. The Vista driver is backwards compatible but it does not support the button on the scanner. It does work flawlessly with Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional. Easy to switch between letter and legal sizes so it's ideal for anyone needing to email PDFs from the road that involve anything with legal size paper.

Worth the Money.......2007-06-08

I use it with my laptop to scan mainly letter sized documents, to include old mimeograph and spirit duplicator (remember the purple print?)pages and it works just as well as my flatbed scanner. I use the B&W setting for mimeo and have to switch to color for the purple print. Super convenient and easy to use if you read and follow the instructions.

I have been suffering from allergies and had actually forgotten what it was like to breathe clearly. I was a little skeptical of the DeLonghi because I had never heard of the brand. This is my first air purifier purchase and I am VERY satisfied. I have it in my bedroom and keep it on the "quiet" level and it is actually pretty quiet. The other two levels are noisy, but I haven't found the need to use them. The "quiet" level actually purifies the air quite well. I can tell because I don't wake up with a stuffy nose in the morning. I am able to breathe!! I keep it running 24/7 and haven't had any problems with it. I love it. It's affordable and works great!

Compact, economical.......2007-06-15

Ordered this after reading positive reviews and found them true. Unit is small and stylish. Have used it both horizontally and vertically. Especially like it vertically atop dresser.

Ordered replacement filter at same time and total cost only about $50. I needed this only for my asthmatic son's room and it works well.

Only downside is noise. On quiet setting it is very quiet but on any other setting it is very noticeable. I run it most of time on quiet setting tuning on the ionization feature and higher fan occasionally.

Worked so well, I bought another........2007-06-02

I bought one of these for my dorm room last year at the recommendation of a friend and kept it running continuously in quiet mode throughout the year. In quiet mode, you can't even tell it is running. It's pretty compact and not an eyesore. From my experience, it has worked pretty well. There is little dust in the air and less accumulating on the wooden floors. The filter is easy to clean. At the end of the year, I just took the entire thing out, vacuumed the gunk off of it, replaced it, and put it into storage. I'm so satisfied with my purchase that I bought another one last week for my bedroom at home.

I was looking for something that was small so that I can place it on the desk at work. I liked everything about it but it's only quiet on the lowest setting. It seems that someone's definition of medium and high is the same. If you set it on anything other than low, it may be too loud.

Really a good deal for the cost. It has worked fine for a few months now. It is very quiet on the low setting (it gets pretty loud when you switch it to the higher setting). It mounts on the wall (although I haven't done that) and generally is not so bad to look at.

I bought it for my sons room because we have two dogs that sleep in there with him and I wanted to keep the pet dander and dust down in his room.

It is certainly worth the money. I'm probably going to get a few more for the living room and our bedroom.

I thought I was hearing distortion from my CD player, so I ordered this gizmo because it was the first one to appear and it was Amazon Prime. The garrulous announcer tells you to skip to track 2 for instructions in English. At the end of track 2, he says, "The cleaning process is now ready to begin. Select track 4." As soon as track 4 is selected, he says "Now that the cleaning process has restored the laser to its original pristine condition, we are ready to optimize your system for stereo playback." Say what? There's an announcement about an imminent beginning immediately followed by an announcement of a successful completion. Where's the middle part--you know, the "cleaning process" for which a few of us may have purchased this item?

I don't hear any difference. My confidence in the product is not buoyed when I notice it's made by Thomson Electric--the Phillipine manufacturer of General Electric and RCA Victor, really high-end audio and computer equipment. Apparently Thomson has recently purchased the brand name Discwasher, once the darling of fastidious vinyl collectors, as its latest merchandising ploy.

I'll give it three stars because after removing the disc I do see that the tiny brushes have managed to attract some dust particles.

Unbelievable Product.......2007-06-14

My problem was on my imac computer. Whenever I would insert a DVD to play it would spin continuously until it was rejected. I could not copy any of my DVDs either. My thoughts were that my DVD player was dying a slow death. As a last ditch effort, thanks to a recommendation from a friend, I tried DISC-WASHER RD-1146 6-BRUSH Dry CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner to see if it could possibly solve my problems. Well, after opening the jewel case, judging by the looks of the product,I was truly disappointed as to how this would fix my player. At any rate, I went through all of the tests and it underwent a dry cleaning and like magic it has fixed all of my problems and it's like having g a brand new DVD player. If you have these same problems, buy this product. It's inexpensive but what's more, it truly works.

Cleaning Wipes for Soft LCD Monitors.......2007-05-16

I desperately needed them, out of fear of scratching my monitors with anything else. They work well, but have a strong alcohol scent to them. I hand them out to my clients as gifts, makes everyone happy.

Gets rid of dust and fingerprints, but leaves a mess.......2005-10-18

The other two reviewers got it mostly right. But let me make it clear: this lightly moistened wipes can indeed remove fingerprints and dust -- and even prevent dust build-up for a few days. The problem is, when the cleaning liquid dries, it leaves ugly fog-like marks on your LCD screen. I've found out that after it dries, using a lint-free soft cloth to lightly polish the screen helps clean up the screen completely. But then, I could have just used the cloth to remove cust and fingerprints.

I think these wipes can be helpful when you have serious fingerprints or dirt (not just dust) on your LCD screen. Otherwise, for most people, this is just a waste of money and can actually make you frustrated.

I have to agree with the other reviewer, it just smears it all over the place. However at work I just discovered the 3M Notebook Computer Cleaning Cloth with microfiber texture. I used it to clean our tablet pc's and pda's with excellent results and its just as the package claims.

Memorex has an excellent product in the Optifix Pro disc cleaning system. First, it is simple to use, my twelve year old son uses it. Also, it has saved quite a few of my expensive CD's, DVD's, and data discs. To be honest, I have not used any other products of this type, but this one certainly lives up to the manufactures claim that it will fix most damaged discs! I highly recommend this product if you own any substantial quantity of DVD's or CD's, and wish to extend their usefulness. Great product!

System WORTHLESS is more like it.......2007-04-20

I can't even comment on the actual System Works application because I never got it to run - it ruined my system right after install! Once I installed it, it asked for a reboot, then came back wtih "Load Error! Press a key to reboot..." which just lead to the error message again, and again, and again.

A chat with tech support (after an hour wait) revealed that there are problems with the GoBack files, so I had to create a bootable CD, and do all kind of things which I haven't been able to do yet since my burner software doesn't have Image capability - necessary for creating this bootable cd.

Don't buy it, don't install it, don't use it - uninstall everything Norton/Symantec and never go back. I'll be lucky if I ever get my computer working again.....Thanks Symantec!!!!!

It is not what it used to be.......2007-04-19

After over a year and a half including renewing for updates I've now discarded Norton SW 2006. it was problamatic and a waste of money. It conflicts with Partition magic another Symantec product and will not work with many MS updates. My system is now operating trouble free since I've uninstalled NSW. Previously my computer was eratic and crashed frquently.

Good and Bulky.......2007-04-06

I've been using Norton products for over 10 years.
Each year they get more complex and more bulky.
However, once the product is configured properly
it tends to run well, detects intrusions and can
improve the health of just about any Windows based system.
The online update process seems to work well.
However if you change your hardware system configuration
you may have to re-activate the product.

The default (out-of-box) settings ALWAYS needs tweaking.
The 2007 version is even more bloated than this version.

I have uninstalled SystemWorks 2006 and will not be going back to Symantec products. I had three problems:

1. On initial install of SystemWorks in January 2006, the "GoBack" module wiped my hard drive. This was annoying and not easy to fix.

2. I reinstalled (and had to reregister) without the GoBack module and used the software for several months satisfactorily. A few annoyances: CleanUp consistently (every night) deleted cookies and autofills I wanted to keep, so despite my entering them as exceptions in the options table, they kept disappearing.

3. I wanted to move to a faster hard drive. After following the Norton Ghost directions explicitly (and getting a "successful" message, the cloned drive would not boot up. I therefore went back to my old drive. SystemWorks required me to reinstall (and reregister). In December, after renewing my SystemWorks subscription for $49.95, I successfully cloned the disk (using EZ Gig II). Again, the only software that did not work on boot up was SystemWorks. I called customer support and was told that the server would not allow me to install on more than 3 computers. I explained the circumstances but was told "there was nothing to be done," and that I would have to buy the software again. I chose not to.

I have completely uninstalled the entire program and am now enjoying faster performance from the operating system and quicker boot times from Word, Photoshop, etc. The protections I was getting from SystemWorks are being covered by AVG AntiVirus (shareware), Registry Mechanic (shareware), SpyBot (shareware), and DiskKeeper ($30), and Microsoft's Malware Guard (free).

I have been using Norton/Symantec products for over 15 years. Never again.

Not as good as it used to be.......2007-01-31

Installed this on my laptop and desktop computers. One installation was late in 2005, the other was in 2nd quarter of 2006. Both have tried to fail. The laptop will no longer do automatic updates. I can manually download and install the updates, but it is a bit of a hassle. The desktop will no longer download the Symantec updates at all. I attempted several uninstalls and reinstalls, won't do it. The only remedy is to take both computers to a computer shop and needlessly pay someone to fix the mess this junk software has made on both computers. Because of the problems, I've run into several problems, mostly related to .cab files when I attempt downloads. I've switched to AVG and Zone Alarm - both FREE and they work.

You expect Avery products to be outstanding and this is no exception. I have generally used their Avery's Laser cards and was reluctant to use the InkJet cards because of previous problems with a competitor's product, specifically, a film coating and poor seperation of the cards. Neither was a problem with the Avery cards!

I now have color cards, print quality is great even with photograpic images. Seperating the card is quick, easy and the result is outstanding if not perfect.
