Don't be fooled by the Cambridge SoundWorks Ensemble III's small size and price. Its natural, balanced, wide-range sound rivals that of much larger, more expensive speakers. Each Ensemble III satellite is a two-way speaker (a bass/mid-range driver, a tweeter and a crossover). This two-way design lets the satellites play louder and handle more power. It also produces the wide dispersion pattern necessary for natural stereo imaging throughout a room. (Imaging exists when sound appears to come from between the two speakers.) Ensemble III's subwoofer cabinet encloses a long-throw 6 1/2-inch woofer. The woofer has dual voice coils, one for each stereo channel. It's mounted in a sealed acoustic suspension cabinet and fires into a tuned bandpass cavity that filters out high frequencies. It has very impressive deep bass -- far better than other systems in its price range.
Ensemble III was designed with smaller rooms in mind, making it perfect for apartment or small living room applications. A great choice for classical music lovers on a budget.
