I guess its just another way for Apple to make more money, but with the newer generation iPods they don't include a wall adapter like they used to with the older generation iPods. So, if you travel a lot and don't have a car when you travel or a laptop, then the best thing for you is this adapter. That way you can still use your iPod all you want for your entire trip.

Does Its Job, But Why the Extra Cost?.......2007-06-20

This iPod AC adapter does its job well; it charges my iPod safely like it's supposed to. What I don't understand is why Apple no longer packages an AC adapter with their iPods. Well, actually I do understand why: $$$$$. When I bought my 4th generation iPod two years ago, it included an AC adapter. Thankfully I kept that adapter so I personally don't have to buy another one (this one is for my girlfriend). $30 for a simple adapter is ridiculous.

One nice thing about this item is that it does give you an additional USB wire so that you can leave your iPod's original wire with your computer, and not have to use it with the adapter since the adapter has its own. I wouldn't go with a non-Apple charger just to be safe, but man, Apple is getting a deal out of this product.

MiniDV HD cassettes.......2007-06-08

Pricier than their cousins, the Standard MiniDv Cassettes, the one's listed out here on Amazon are almost 50% cheaper than the same ones (exactly the same, brand, etc) that I've found at the local photography store. The box stores don't carry them with frequency...not enough HD cameras in the hands of the public yet...I'm sure availability will change soon though with more HiDef hardware being purchased.

You have to use them in the HD camera's or you'll void the warranty. You'll also gum up the heads of the more sensistive prouser cameras which means poor quality images and possibly ruining the heads themselves.

I just bought a new Canon XHA1 and it's worth the investment to use the HD cassettes.

In fact, I'm going to order more right now.

You don't need to pay extra for you MiniDV videotapes. The cheapest brand of tape will work as good as the most expensive because it is all digital. And having a digital camera is like having Electrolytes on your drink,it makes it all better. Buy the much cheaper TDK MiniDVs and buy yourself a nice microphone with the money you saved.

One of the remotes for our Liftmaster garage door opener quit one evening from old age. We needed an immediate replacement and went to Home Depot. No Liftmaster remotes are available at Home Depot. We were glad to find a remote that would work with other opener systems. I had to read the Clicker's instructions several times to set the DIP switches properly for our Liftmaster system. I was not sure it would work, but everything went well. This remote works flawlessly. It has better range than the factory original.

NOT a proper replacement.......2007-06-15

This unit was listed as a replacement remote for my Sears garage door opener... BUT, unlike the Sears remote, which has eight 3-position switches to set the opener code, this devices only has eight 2-position switches to set the opener code with my unit. The instructions blow past this point saying "just don't use any of the 0 settings for the switchs), but this reduces the number of possible opener codes from 6,561 to only 256, which is much less secure. No thank you.

Maybe I was fortunate to have an opener with an easy learn button, but it was easy to program the remote and then use it to program the home link in my car. size is a little larger than I would have liked, but works great.

I bought the Clicker as an extra garage door opener for the car.
It was easy to set up with the Sears opener and works just great.
The only minor complaint is it's large size with two small buttons to push.
The price was fair, I would recommend the Clicker.

I don't have thing one to complain about after having this turntable for 2 years. It's fantastic and does all the specs say it will. I still have yet to use it to convert to mp3, but otherwise, I don't believe you can go wrong here. I see no reason you should hesitate if it's in your price range.

Exactly What I Was Looking For.......2007-06-13

The AT-PL 120 was possibly more muscle than I needed, but all I've ever wanted to do since I discovered CDs and MP3s was record my LPs and .45s on my computer. I spend far more time in front of the monitor than I ever do listening to my old phono.

It took me forever to figure out how to hook it up. I've got a Dell XPS 710 with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Sound Card and as it turned out I was using the wrong jack and going insane trying to figure out why I had no audio. I could hear the LP playing on the turntable, just barely, but no matter what I tried it was frustrating me. My Sound Card didn't come with any instructions and I ended up going to Creative and downloading the documentations. I discovered that the 5th hole named FlexiJack did 3-in-1 duty supporting Microphone-in, Line-in and Digital I/O connections. I was told to not use the Mic jack and when I did try it I had inadvertently turned off the pre-amp on the turntable. For the next poor soul struggling with a similiar problem, the phono out turns the pre-amp OFF. You don't want to do that! If you do you won't hear anything coming out of your computer either.

The 2nd best part of the whole deal was the software than came with my Sound Blaster is first rate for what I wanted to do. You can not only save it in .wma format but cut to the chase an save it as an MP3 and even take out the hiss and clicks. It sounds great! It has exceeded my expectations. Frank Sinatra's Only The Lonely never sounded so good. I feel like a pro with my professional direct-drive turntable and my Dell's awesome sound card.

Replica of Quality.......2007-05-22

I bought this record player to "time capsule" my complete, fully automatic (and) working dynamically, Pioneer PL250 (a basic direct-drive, but great table.) What I expected was the AT to crush my former love with raging, advanced sound...and though the newer features didn't make me weep with nolstagia (because i'm only a shy past 30), I was thoroughly impressed.

This table shares the standard of what quality should be in a record player. It's almost a replica of my pioneer, though weighing a ton more. I imagine that is the internal amp, a feature I don't need at the time, but could come handy someday with the newer and less qualified amplifiers.

My set up is a top to bottom 3-tier pioneer rack system from the early to mid eighties still going strong (Like a Toyota). The AT, though not a peer to Japanese manufactures, fits it perfectly in every way. I give it four stars only because I'm torn from the automatic return equipped with my pioneer. It's really a small thing overall, but i'm accustomed to multi-tasking and letting the auto-return settle me into ease. Now I feel like I'm waiting to flip the vinyl, or stop the maniacle spinning. Other than that, and perhaps the plastic parts feeling a bit fragile in places...the base is a sturdy table that carries the "feelings" of the past. It's my pioneer reincarnated, but the question is: Will it endure 25 plus years of service? Has Potential.

Poor instructions in manual.......2007-05-12

While this is an excellent turntable, it does not explain what type of software is needed for your computer in order to download LPs. It does not even clearly explain the type of adapter one needs to do it. Since the turntable is built to perform this operation (having a pre-amp, unlike most turntables), one would think that some information regarding the transfer of the LPs to the digital format of a computer would be indicated. I had to go to MacWorld to find an article related to this topic.

Also, the instructions regarding the balance of the tone arm are not precise (until the tone arm hovers freely ... without touching the platter surface). If you achieve this balance, the tone arm will skip on the surface of the record. More counterweight is needed than the instructions infer.

For those who own Macs, I would suggest buying WireTap Pro ($19), which, with a Y-adpater that has feminine inserts for the RCA plugs on the turntable, will allow you to play into Garage Band (with Monitor ON), and record the sound with WireTap Pro. The WireTap AIFF file can then be downloaded to iTunes, where it can be converted to an MP3 file if you want transfer it to an iPod.

The DVP-NC85H five-disc DVD player offers 720p/1080i upscaling through an HDMI connection (High Definition Multi Media Interface). HDMI allows the transfer of uncompressed digital audio and video signals to other HDMI equipped components, providing an uncompromised picture. It also features Precision Cinema Progressive technology, which delivers accurate and vivid images to the television. Unlike other DVD players that detect image changes at the Scan line level-Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the Pixel level. This results in images closer to the original source data, because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing Pixel behavior. Precision Drive III mechanism is also included, which helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically "warped" discs. HDMI Compatible
High-Definition Multi-media Interface (HDMI) is an interface format that provides uncompressed digital audio and video directly to a digital television. It represents the current state of the art in high-definition video and sound because the information never has to be converted into an analog format. Another benefit of HDMI is that it puts all that information into one cable and one easy-to-use connector.

An added benefit of connecting the DVP-NC85H/B to your set with HDMI is that the unit can "upscale" commercial DVDs, which are rendered at 480p resolution, to a digitally interpolated 720p resolution, which makes for a much sharper picture.

For analog sets, the DVP-NC85H/B includes a 108 MHz 12-bit digital-to-analog converter for sharp picture and clear action. It features composite, S-video and component video connectors, as well as optical digital, coaxial digital, and RCA analog audio outputs.

Precision Cinema Progressive
While other DVD players detect image changes at the scan line level, Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the pixel level. This makes the picture more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because the technology uses separate, optimized algorithms to handle the differing pixel behavior. It also uses separate algorithms to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are virtually free from motion artifacts.

Precision Drive 3 System
Sony's DVP-NC85H/B delivers excellent picture and sound quality--even from damaged discs. How? The unit's Precision Drive 3 system allows you to playback some DVDs that may have been damaged or warped without a degradation of picture quality. This feature comes in handy when watching rentals or other heavily used discs.

MP3 and JPEG File Playback

I am one of those lazy people that dont like to get up and constantly change the DVD's and this player is perfect for me. I love this baby. It operates perfectly, it is very quite and it plays every make of DVD or CD you can find. Would recommend to everyone.

What's the point of 5-disc capacity if it won't shuffle between discs?.......2007-05-30

Audio and video are great, but it won't randomly shuffle between discs. If you're playing a CD, it will randomize the tracks on one disc but won't move on to another disc until all tracks of the first are played.

Bought this to replace an older Sony model. Install was easy, just moved the cords from the old player to the new player and plugged it in. The remote is slightly different from the older model, but easy enough to figure out.
We wanted a player to reliably play DVDs with the ease of the 5 disc changer. This does it.

A very smart CO detector. It's programmed to be unannoying and really does it's homework before an alert, and then it seems to help the residents work through the problem without panic. The draw back is that in 7 years after first powerup the unit churps constantly to get you to "upgrade" to the latest technology by buying a new model. At this price they could have let us use it for 12 years instead of 7. I have two of them and neither has detected the lowest level of 11ppm. It begins to display on LED at 30ppm up to 999ppm. My place gets plenty of natural gas from 3 gigantic water heaters, but no CO. Glad I bought them.

This product is a must have with its digital display that detects even low-level carbon monoxide levels that over time can cause severe long-term health problems. Don't scrimp on any model that doesn't have a digital display and that doesn't advertise as detecting the lowest levels.

Unit shows "ERR" which customer service says need to be replaced. Warranty is 5 years. I don't have my receipt from Costco. Bought in 2002.
They won't replace without receipt. Won't ever be buying any Kidde products from know on. Reputable company would have replaced.
