The new KX-TG2553 is part of Panasonic's fourth generation of "GigaRange" 2.4GHz cordless phones, and the second generation of "Extreme" phones. It is shock and splash-resistant like the earlier models, and has a number of improvements. The phone base features the "Diversity" antenna system. This technology, used for wireless microphones in concerts as well as in mobile radio equipment, incorporates two antennas mounted in different locations. With two antennas, there is a better chance that one will receive a clear signal. A circuit inside the phone base automatically chooses the better signal, so you get the best communication possible. Caller ID with Call Waiting can display the caller's name and phone number on the illuminated three-line LCD screen on the handset, even if you are currently on a call when a second call comes in. To access the stored Caller ID information, you can use the "navigator" key located on the handset. This multi-function button allows you to easily scroll up and down through the Caller ID log for the caller's information, viewable on the handset's LCD.
