Amazon.com Product Description
The Uniden EXR2460 digital cordless telephone with caller ID combines a high-powered digital phone and a caller ID feature in one machine. While many cordless phones receive and transmit signals in 900 MHz bandwidth, and others provide a combination of 2.4 GHz in the base and 900 MHz in the handset, this phone transmits at 2.4 GHz in both the base and the handset, offering eight times the range of a 900 MHz telephone and better performance than a combination telephone. In addition to a greater range, the Uniden EXR2460 with digital spread spectrum technology offers clear sound with superior privacy and virtually no echo.
The caller ID feature is conveniently located on the handset and is capable of storing a history of 50 calls. Other features include 10-number memory dialing, 20-channel AutoScan, AutoTalk, AutoStandby, and a page/intercom feature. The Uniden EXR2480 is headset compatible (headset not included) and includes a phone line cord, a battery pack, and an AC adapter.
Customer Reviews:
This is not a good phone.......2001-04-01
In the past year I've tried to buy a cordless phone that has the features I want and good quality too...this Uniden was the worst cordless and the most expensive. First of all, the long cord that plugs the phone into the jack didn't work. I spent hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working and then tried the very short cord...it worked. The sound is terrible, fades out and there is a very annoying almost constant clicking sound and a noticeable echo when I'm talking. Last but not least, the phone doesn't ring when it's plugged into the charger. Save yourself the annoyance and don't bother with this phone.
Defective handset.......2001-03-30
I have had nothing but problems with the handset of my Uniden phone. I have had it just under a year and have had to send the phone back to Uniden for repairs three times now. The problem is the "Talk" button keeps breaking. Uniden refuses to replace the handset, they just keep replacing the button and it breaks again in 2 months! Do yourself a favor and DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!!
Uniden EXR2480 2.4 GHz Cordless.......2000-11-14
Two previous reviews by customers have noted interference by mocrowave ovens with the EXR2460 which is the same basic phone as the EXR2480 that I purchased.
I HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THE INTERFERENCE WAS VERY NOTICEABLE AND I HAVE RETURNED THE PHONE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT AT ALL SATISFACTORY.
What did Uniden do?.......2000-05-08
This phone is essentially a degraded version of the EXS-9960. First, it has no ringer on/off switch likie the 9960 does on the bottom of the handset. This is a huge problem for those of us that do not like to be disturbed at night. Next, they removed the wonderful mute button. So much for private background conversations and taking it into the bathroom. Lastly, a few days after I purchased the phone, I placed a snack in the microwave while I was on the phone, only to find my conversation was reduced to static, even with the base and handset more that 15 feet from the microwave. Now, every time my roomates make something to eat, I have to end my phone calls, or make sure they don't use the microwave while I'm on the phone.
The audio is good (compared to those Panasonic's and others that cut out the other party when you talk to cut out the echo because they are using cheap components) and I can notice little if any echo. The only thing this phone has over the 9960 is a much more comfortable handset and better placement of the call-id button, unless you use the flash button often (I do). The annoying thing is that you have to press the call-id button in the first place to view your calls. The up/down buttons adjust the ringer volume, whereas you have to press the call-id button to change them to scroll through your calls. Now what would one do more often, change the ring volume or look at calls? What was Uniden thinking! I think a good dose of common sense would do them much good!
So, if you want to trade a little more comfort for your mute and ringer on/off switch, and you do not have a microwave, this is a good phone to buy. Otherwise, stick with the 9960.
One major drawback.......2000-04-09
I've had the Uniden EXR2460 for about a month now. I love everything about this phone EXCEPT the microphone on the handset. You get a very noticable echo of your voice through the speaker. It's very annoying.
Take a look at some of the reviews for the other cordless Uniden phones and you'll see echos (no pun intended :) of the same problem.
