Avoid Buying this Watch.......2006-12-15

The watch itself worked fine for about 6 months, which is when the band broke. This, of course, renders the watch worthless. I expect a plastic/rubber watch band to last years, not months. None of the local jewelers/watch repair places could replace the band. Someone else said in their review that they got their watch repaired (the band broke, of course) by Timex via mail for $7.00, but why pay $7.00 to have a clearly defective product "fixed"? Unless you have money to burn, do not buy this watch.

Poor design, short life.......2006-08-07

I purchased this watch just prior to a deployment to Afghanistan (I am a US Army officer). Upon returning, the watch battery died--for a total run time of less than six months! I discovered that the battery was drained by buttons sticking. Shortly after replacing the battery, buttons began sticking again. WHAT A HORRIBLE DESIGN! I am going back to the "traditional" IronMan that's worked for the past five years. After making this decision, I disected the watch to try and fix the button stick problem. NO luck. Timex, PLEASE go back to the drawing board on this one. What a waste of $69.

Timex REPLACES the BANDS!!.......2006-07-26

My band broke on this watch and I called the Timex Store and they sent me a prepaid envelope/box to mail my watch to them, and I got it back within 2 weeks with a new band. It only cost $7.

Great watch...bad band.......2006-06-05

I got this watch from my daughter about 2 1/2 years ago. From what I can tell from reading the other reviews, I have had much better luck with the band than other folk, but it seems my luck has run. I do not remember meeting Yoko Ono but I must have as something definitely "broke up the band". Last week I got a crack and after that it was all over. I am now trying to find a replacement band on line (no luck) and have a plea into Timex Customer Support (no word yet).

Beyond the sentimental reasons, I love this watch. It looks sharp and is incredibly functional. I had an Expedition before, but this just blows it away in terms of the number of useful functions such as 3 independent alarms and the ease of use. I still recommend the Ironman, though I do wish the band issue were not a problem.

The band sucks.......2006-01-28

The band is a piece of garbage. I have had a Timex Ironman for about 15 years but decided to "upgrade" to the "Sleek." The watch is decent--it has a much more intellegent user interface than the old Ironman--but it makes strange electronic static sounds when I depress some of the buttons. But the band is a piece of garbage. As other users have stated, it disintegrated within a year. It cracked in multiple places and then finally broke. And due to it's "advanced" (AKA non-standard) design, once the band breaks, you're out of luck. I can't find a replacement band from Nike or elsewhere.

I'm back to the Ironman that's served me well for 15 years.
