Transition Networks, the conversion technology expert, offers a new solution to meet the demands for high-density networks, a dual Fast Ethernet converter. As part of Transition's comprehensive media conversion system, the PointSystem, the converter is a slide-in modular card containing two fiber interfaces in the front of the unit with copper routed to two RJ21 (50 position) connectors on the rear of the chassis. It's ideal for organizations challenged by both network demands and storage restrictions. Dual Fast Ethernet cards can populate up to 12 of the PointSystem's 18 slots. The remaining 6 slots can be populated with standard Fast Ethernet cards or any other PointSystem module. The units can connect to an RJ21 port on the user's switch or to standard RJ45 jacks using a hydra cable with RJ45 plugs. The PointSystem chassis is fully manageable to give the network manager complete control of the converters. Cards can be monitored and configured remotely using the stand-alone FocalPoint application or via a standard browser with the Web-based management tool. The dual Fast Ethernet cards include AutoCross, eliminating the need for a cross over cable and LinkAlert, which helps trouble shoot a lost link.
