Sima VS-712 EX .......2006-06-19

The VS-712EX is a great idea in a world where so many video and audio sources put a strain on the input assortment of your home theatre system.There are plenty of inputs on the Sima VS-712EX to accommodate almost everyone who has multiple digital video sources,with the ability to route all sources,digital or analog to a single output,making the need to guess which source you need to choose to watch what you want a thing of the past.
It's too bad it doesn't work that way.When watching a DVD routed via the Sima VS-712EX,the video will black out every few minutes for a few seconds.When watching satelite TV the unit loses the picture every few minutes.When watching the VCR you lose the picture.Even air TV signals diappear into blackness while routed via this product.It is absolutely nerve racking!
The only way I have been able to resolve this problem is unplug it,hook up your productoutputs to seperate inputs on your monitor and suffer finding the source you want to watch like you used to.You cannot rely on the VS-712EX for flawless viewing enjoyment.
I give this product a NEGATIVE rating.Run as fast as you can from this product if you want to keep your sanity.Priced at well over $500.00,the Sima corporation should be ashamed to put this product on the consumer market.
For the record,this is the second VS-712EX I've tried.The first one actually burned itself up internally after only two hours of use.I wish this one would.

Shoddy craftmanship........2006-04-10

Two outputs, but only one is component. Main logic consists of the Philips TDA8310 chip which is actually purposed for processing for picture-in-picture applications. Save some cash and invest in a higher-end receiver that does video input processing rather than buying this hunk of low-budget design. $50 in parts, tops.

This unit sucked ass. I say sucked because I had one and had to return because of false advertising and shoddy workmanship. Anyone who buys unit is an idiot and sucker.
