BUYER BEWARE - Product Died.......2004-07-16

After 2 months of normal use, this product died. Nothing turned on anymore and wasn't even recognized in the USB plug. When it worked, it's volume was low, sound quality poor and cheaply designed. Do not waste your money on this junky product.

I am completely satisfied in its abilities to act as an mp3 player, usb flash drive, and voice recorder. No doubt, it's the best of its kind; it beats the Creative Muvo handily with an actual screen and equalizer settings. However, there are a few things about it that bug me.
1 - It always starts from the first track when it turns on, not from where it left off when it last turned off (as I've come to expect from my portable audio devices).
2 - It automatically turns itself off after 30 seconds of inactivity. This means that if you pause a song for more than 30 seconds, you get to start all the way back at the first song when you come back to it. Inactivity shutoff should be a user customizable variable, or the player should simply pick up where it left off when you turn it on.

I listen to music in the car or while doing an activity, so I listen to music in 20 minute bursts or less, and with the Cendyne Gruvstick I end up listening to the same songs over and over. These aren't complex problems, and they can be fixed with a simple firmware upgrade (of which there are none on the Cendyne website). I hesitatingly recommend the Gruvstick because it is small, neat, and functions well. If Cendyne would only update its firmware, I'd be recommending it to everyone I know.

For the 2-3 weeks that it worked, I was in heaven. When it stopped working (less than 1 month after purchase), CenDyne wanted nothing to do with me. My "Warranty/Registration Form" was returned in the mail unopened, and their website politely informed me that "CenDyne is no longer providing warranty services." Click on support and you will get the dreaded "The page cannot be found."
To top it all off, their website posts a cute little FAQs section, with one question being, "Why is CenDyne's phone number not listed here?"
You guessed it; the answer is that "CenDyne no longer provides phone support." Avoid this company like the plague.

Nice little gadget!.......2003-08-12

This is a great sounding, lightweight MP3 player that I enjoy using on a daily basis. Neck strap makes it perfect for the gym. One word of warning though: REPLACE THE HEADPHONES! The included headphones are probably the worst I've ever heard. However, once I switched to a pair of Panasonic earbuds, I realized that the headphones were the problem, not the unit itself. Sounds great, LOUD, good price for 128mb and the included RF Transmitter works great with my car stereo. Very easy to setup and use on a PC. Within 5 minutes of opening the box I had transfered songs and was ready to go. Compared to some other 128mb players out there, this is well worth the price!

Great Player (if it worked).......2003-05-22

I thought this product was great:
- Small and light
- Holds about 4 or 5 cds (128 mb)
- convenieint USB plugs directly in to PC w/out cable (may not fit all PC's)
- Plays through FM radio in my car

One BIG problem though; it quit working the first day!
So I exchanged it for another hoping it was a one-off fluke.
The second one quit after a couple of hours!
I called Cen Dyne, who were no help, and told me to return it for another one. I'm not taking the chance, especially since I read a review on another website that another buyer had the same problem as me.

Oh yeah, whoever wrote the manual, has very poor English, which makes following the instruction book very difficult.

Versatile and Cheap.......2004-04-22

I love my GruvX. It has a long enough range, and I can set it to almost whatever FM frequency I choose (unlike those crappy ones with like 3 preset frequencies). Keep in mind, it is illegal to override a licensed FM frequency. So if you are in a area that uses all three frequencies, you're screwed. The GruvX lets you find most unused frequencies. A very good buy.

My GruvX doesn't have any problems and works how it should. In case you are worried about a potential dud, here is some info from the back of the unit:

After reading the other reviews, I wonder if I got a different model than the folks complaining bitterly about this. Mine works great in my car and in my home. I have seen no functional or quality problems with my transmitter. It does require that the volume of the originating player be set low for best results. If the volume is too high on the player, the transmitted volume will be distorted and give some static. Also, in a metal building the sound doesn't travel far without distortion (fuzziness). My car radio (91 honda) picks up the signal clearly up to about 80 feet away. In a metal building, the transmitter needs to be right next to the radio to avoid fuzziness.

Better than the competition.......2003-11-03

Bought this after trying the iRock, Sound feeder etc. Compared to others, this transmitter is the best. Mind you, not perfect but better than the competition.

Few caveats: May not work well in cars that have rear mounted antenna (most Japanese cars). I get a better reception in my house than in the car. Believe me, once you find a 'good' (unused frequency), the distance is impressive. I use mine two rooms away.

Pros:
Small size, long battery life, can tune to any FM frequency

Cons:

Other than the ones mentioned above, the quality is shoddy so pray for a good piece. On mine, the LCD display lost some segments (when new) but comes back occassionally. Since I set it and forget it, I know what frequency I am tuned to.

Cendyne WIRELESS MP3 RF TRANSMITTER - do not buy.......2003-09-18

I have seen the product on a different site but I ordered it from Amazon, because it was cheaper. It was only after it was delivered that I have read the other reviews (lesson learned!).
The unit came with a deffective lid for the battery, the display does not work and the quality of transmission is extremely low. My radio barely picked up the transmission, when my laptop was 10 inches away! It is small and it looks good, but it does not work!
