Panasonic's CT-27G5 is a basic 27-inch TV, with a few extras to enhance the home theater experience. The PanaBlack picture tube is tinted to provide better contrast. Instead of the comb filter found in more upscale models, this entry-level TV uses a notch filter to separate the color and brightness portions of a video signal. During setup, you can name the channels or use preset call letters. The sound emanates from two front-firing full-range speakers, which are driven by 3 watts each. The Artificial Intelligence Sound Control circuit smoothes out overall volume so you don't get blown through the wall when the program switches to a commercial. If you've got kids in the house, you'll appreciate the V-Chip parental control circuit and the Game Guard System. The latter allows parents to prevent the TV from working on channel 3 and 4, and locks out the video input; these measures prevent the kids from viewing a video game on the TV.
