If you're looking to move on from a teeny-tiny 15-inch monitor, consider upgrading to the NEC AccuSync 90 as money well spent. In addition to the mammoth 18-inch viewable screen size, the footprint of the AccuSync 90 almost equals the footprint of a 17-inch monitor--sure to save plenty of precious desk space.

At a dot pitch of 0.26 millimeter, this shadow mask CRT presents a fine display. It isn't the sharpest of monitors, but text and images are clear and detailed. At higher resolutions, however, we found that smaller font sizes become nearly illegible. We also noticed some ghosting near the edges of the monitor. Still, there's a lot to like about the AccuSync 90. Colors are rich and deep, contrast controls are strong, and the screen is surprisingly flat for a shadow mask CRT.

With a maximum resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 at 76 Hz, the AccuSync 90 is no slouch, and at the recommended resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 at 89 Hz, eyestrain is certain to be a thing of the past. The AccuSync 90 is a well-rounded monitor that should appeal to consumers on a budget. High-end graphics users might want to shy away from the AccuSync 90's dull image quality, but for general business applications, the AccuSync 90 should fill the bill nicely. --Dan Simpson

Works and looks great.......2004-01-01

Works great. Plug-n-play. No problems. This black monitor has worked perfect for the past 2 months. Dell has free shipping, so it was a great bargain. Text and images are sharp. Great for watching DVD movies on. It's not a flat-screen (slightly curved glass), but that's not really a problem.

acusync sinks to the bottom.......2001-07-08

We purchased this monitor and found out that it had a fault when it arrived, however we checked our video card and the rest of the system first. Because of this we did not return it under warranty until after the 30 day period for returns. So now we have to pay for shipping from east coast to west coast 55lbs. I recieved a very unsympathetic answer from the customer support and will now be consulting a lawyer. The new monitor seems ok now....but I wonder how long before we have to pay out again. If I had paid a little more and got a monitor from the local pc shop, I would have had no problem returning it and no shipping....as I have with other faulty components before. Shouldnt the point of online shopping these hard days for the internet merchants be to assure people that it is better than the local shop? Well, next time I need something I will buy local.

The statistics speak for themselves.18" viewable screen with only about an extra inch for box. Also a small footprint to boot. No pun intended but this is a bargain for anyone that works with graphics & has no time for distractions. Visual comfort with that little extra> good pricing!! Easy to set up, plug n play..If you have an older system, NEC has an easily downloadable driver for this NEC90 monitor. BUY IT NOW!!

Great Monitor.......2000-10-24

When I bought a couple of these for work, I fully expected to do some serious rearrangement of our desks just to get them to fit (not that we have messy desks or anything [smile]). Much to my surprise I was able to fit them on replacing the 17 inch monitors with very little effort. The quality of the image is great, it works fantastic with my ATI all-in-wonder card and chugs away 9+ hours a day while doing flash and html programming...

Perhaps the other reviewer of this product got a fluke, because I've had my monitor for almost a year now and it's been working wonderfully.
