Passport 8608GB is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Routing Switch module. It requires one or more GBICs. It uses plug-in Gigabit Interface Converters (GBICs) with SC connectors for customers wishing to "mix and match" interface types on a single module using multimode or singlemode fiber. The GBICs are available in short distance (SX), long distance (LX) and extended distance (XD and ZX).The new 'M' modules have increased memory that increases the total record count to 128,000. This allows increased scaling where large numbers of MAC addresses are required or where very large routing tables are needed.
