Cabletron extends its award-winning SmartSwitch family to offer this multi-protocol router to bring telecommuters, home and remote office workers high-speed, dial-up ISDN or permanent circuit IDSL connections to Network Service Providers (NSPs). The SOHO Smart Switch Router 100 Series provides quick and easy Ethernet LAN connectivity via ISDN or IDSL WAN networks for secure and business- critical connectivity. In addition, the SmartSwitch Router 100 Series provides optional two-line local analog support for convenient, low-cost use of standard telephone, facsimile and answering machine equipment over a single ISDN line. The SmartSwitch Router 100 Series allows LAN users to connect to service provider in minutes. A rich set of features automatically configure the SmartSwitch Router 100 Series, including auto-detection of switch type and SPID, to eliminates the need for manual entry of this information. Its Dynamic IP address assignment capability allows an ISP automatically to issue an IP address upon initial connection. Cabletron's built-in DHCP Server also automatically assigns IP addresses to any workstations on the LAN. Network Address Translation (NAT) can be enabled to allow multiple users on the LAN to share a single IP address assigned by the ISP and still simultaneously access the Internet.
