The Cisco NM-AIC-64 Network Module Alarm Interface Controller expands the capabilities of the Cisco Data Communications Network (DCN) by providing remote alarm monitoring and control of network elements. By installing this network module into the Cisco 26xx, 3640, or 3660 Series routers, network managers have the capability of monitoring and controlling remote, unstaffed sites to provide increased security, reliability, and control of the network. For example, if a flood occurs at a service-provider remote site, the AIC issues an alarm. The network manager can then invoke a command to turn on a sump pump instead of wasting valuable time waiting for somebody to arrive at the facility.
