For convenience, wireless networking is the answer.

Which Wireless Standard Is Right for Me?
Now that you've decided to create a wireless network, the next step is to figure out which wireless standard to use.

Basically, a standard is a set of specifications for a device. All devices that follow a specific standard share operating characteristics, such as the radio frequency used and maximum data transfer speed.

For wireless networking, there are three standards to choose from at this time:

  • 802.11b
  • 802.11a
  • 802.11g

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Very good.......2007-06-20

I'm happy about this buy, but i have to say that the installation program that comes in the CD-ROM, trows a problem, sometimes it doesnt install the program correctly, and then you have to do it again. I Buy 2 of them, and in both computers i've installed them, it gets me the same problem...

1 out of 5 stars Horrible........2007-06-19

I should have known better. After having problems with the Linksys wireless G router for over a year, I was stupid enough to purchase another Linksys product... the Wireless-G PCI adapter. Why did I do this? Because it was cheaper than the other routers. Why did I take it back to the store two weeks later? Because it was a piece of junk that never worked right.

We have a desktop computer in the same room as a laptop computer. The laptop connected to our wireless network just fine, and it reliably maintained the connection all day long. The desktop with the brand new Linksys PCI card connected to the network sporadically at best, and sometimes couldn't even detect the network. There were occasionas that went on literally for hours when we couldn't connect to the internet for more than a few seconds at a time. Save your time and your money and invest in one of the many better options that are available. And avoid Linksys like the plague.

4 out of 5 stars Easy install.......2007-05-25

No brainer to install. Took about 20 minutes (10 of which trying to figure out how to open the PC case!). It's a little slower than the ethernet direct connect, but so far, no problems. It detected the wireless router first time.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent card........2007-05-13

Needed this card to work wireless from my router to my wife's new "Vista" computer. Tried Linksys B card from her old computer and could not connect. So bought this one and connected right away. Just follow the instructions exactly. Bought the Linksys G router too, needlessly, as my old Linksys B router would have worked.

If you have AOL and Vista be sure to install AOL VR in the Vista machine.
(Available at Best Buy, Circuit City etc, free. Look for the OPen Ride which contains AOL VR)

4 out of 5 stars Wireless adapter.......2007-05-07

Nice piece of hardware. Installed nice. recognized by WinXP no problem.

Only complaint is Linksys software. Was really squirrely. I recommend using the Windows drivers and interface. Not as many bells and whistles but much more stable.
