There's no need to open the case of your computer -- just plug the Linksys Wireless Compact USB Adapter into an available USB port on your notebook or desktop computer, and you're ready to communicate. The included Setup Wizard takes you through the network setup, step by step. And since the adapter is hot-pluggable, you can take it with you from home, to work, and back.

Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, surf the web, use instant messaging to chat with friends across the Internet, and share files and other reSOURCEs such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network. The Wireless Compact USB Adapter is fully compliant with the 802.11b wireless network standard, transferring data at up to 11Mbps in the 2.4GHz radio band. I have a Linksys wireless home network. I bought this to use with my TIVO for sending recorded movies to my laptop. Works great, was fairly easy to set up and I haven't had to mess with it since.

WUSB12 and TIVO.......2005-10-31

If you are planning to have TIVO join your home LAN using a WUSB12 from Linksys, be careful. The TIVO bulletin boards are replete with problems getting wireless to work with TIVO. The problem seems to be on the TIVO side. However neither TIVO or Linksys is much help in solving the problem.

Bought this for my Tivo player. Was tired of waiting for downloads via phone line. Installation and configuration was a breeze (under five minutes). Plug it in, restart the player and it configures with a fee menu clicks. My Tivo updates now take about 30 seconds and the wireless strength signal is only shown as "poor" due to the distance from the Tivo player to the wireless router. Would highly recommend this product for Tivo users.
