4 out of 5 stars Great Idea.......2007-06-13

This product worked great. I bought it for my boyfriend and now he can listen to his favorites songs right from his phone.

5 out of 5 stars Nice card at a great price.......2007-06-13

This card is great, works with my VX8600 (presumably with all Verizon phones that accept micro SD). There is no need to overpay at Verizon.

4 out of 5 stars Great tool for Win-mobile development.......2007-03-23

The adapters work flawlessly. At my job we develop applications for several different hand-helds which may use any one of the three standard flash memory card sizes. I like the flexibility I have with this set.

Additionally the case is perfect for carrying a demo to a customer.

There are some problems, however. The first day I had the set, I plugged in the mini adapter into a pda, then tried to insert the trans-flash card into the adapter, I ended up missing, and the 1GB flash drive is still lodged into the device.

My only other complaint is that you cannot achieve the Russian Doll effect with this adapter. The full sized card fits the trans-flash, not the mini-flash card. A minor grievance, but something that others would find a positive feature.

Amazon.com Review

If good things come in small packages, the WUSB11 from Linksys makes a great addition to a wireless network. Measuring about the size of a deck of cards and weighing just shy of 3 ounces, this little device fits nearly anywhere and is easily stowed in a notebook computer case. Simple USB connectivity makes it compatible with any modern PC, and also makes it easy to swap from one computer to another.

Provided you already have a wireless router or Internet gateway set up, installing the WUSB11 is a snap. We plugged it into a USB port on a test PC, executed the installation program on the included PC, and once the system rebooted we were connected to the network without being tethered to any wires. The unit draws its power directly from the USB port, leaving users with one less cord to lug around and one less device to plug into a wall outlet. We tested the device on a PC located 40 feet laterally and one floor above the wireless router and didn't even need to extend the tiny antenna to get good reception. Should you need to use the antenna, it extends at either 90 degrees or 180 degrees, meaning it will work whether the unit is sitting flat on a desk or mounted vertically on a wall using the included Velcro strips.

Performance was impressive. As an 802.11b product the WUSB11 supports a maximum speed of 11 Mbps and real-world speeds hovered around that mark in our tests. The signal was strong and consistent, making it great for gaming or transferring large files without worrying about a disconnect halfway through. There are only two indicator lights on the unit itself that tell you it's working--a power light and another light that blinks when data is transmitting--but the included software tools allow for a much more detailed picture. Using these utilities we were able to keep an eye on the signal strength (it never dipped below 95 percent), configure the built-in encryption settings, and perform other security and monitoring tasks.

The device is designed to fall back to lower speeds instead of cutting off trans missions completely when it reaches the limits of its range or experiences signal problems. In a normal-size home you should have no trouble maintaining the 11 Mbps signal, but if you wander outdoors with a notebook or are plagued by signal interference, overall transmission speed can step down to 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or even 1 Mbps depending on conditions. Even at the lowest speed the device is fast enough for speedy Internet browsing (most users won't see any slowdown at all in that area, even for downloads), although transferring files across the network is painfully slow at the lower speeds.

No matter what, if you plan mainly to transfer large files over your network, you'll probably want the extra speed 802.11a or 802.11g devices offer. Of course, you'll also have to absorb the extra cost associated with those products. The WUSB11 is a fantastic 802.11b device for the money, working perfectly straight out of the box, and its low weight and small size make it a viable alternative to a PCMCIA wireless network card for notebook users. Just make sure the computer you want to connect it to doesn't use Windows 95 or NT, because the unit is incompatible with those two operating systems. --T. Byrl Baker

Wireless networks are rapidly becoming more popular and coming down in price. Since they don't require cables, you can use the devices anywhere in an office or home, even out on the patio. There's no need to roll out an Ethernet network cable to each room of a house; you can network anywhere--without wires. Outside the home, wireless networking is available in hotspots at coffee shops, businesses, and airports--great when you're on the road and need to get some work done. For convenience, wireless networking is the answer.

Which Wireless Standard Is Right for Me?
Now that you've decided to create a wireless network, the next step is to figure out which wireless standard to use.

Basically, a standard is a set of specifications for a device. All devices that follow a specific standard share operating characteristics, such as the radio frequency used and maximum data transfer speed.

For wireless networking, there are three standards to choose from at this time:

5 out of 5 stars A great little unit........2007-06-27

Installing on a Gateway box with XP Media Center, I had no problems whatever. We were up and connected within minutes of opening the box. Considering the price, this was a great little unit.

5 out of 5 stars Very happy they still provide this version!.......2007-06-26

I am very happy they still sell this version. It is a great device to have when fixing or repairing older computers that don't support USB 2.0. It works flawlessly, easy to install, and can be portable since it doesn't need any external power source. It gets all it's power from the USB hub on your PC or laptop.

2 out of 5 stars Performs fine if and when it works........2007-06-20

This little box works fine when not using WEP or WPA. When I use WEP, networking dies after 150-200 megs of data transfer. When using WPA-PSK-TKIP it's even worse. My drivers are up to date.

This is a cheap way to get unwired, but I wouldn't recommend this for secure networking. It is just not stable enough.

5 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL.......2007-06-14

This product is awesome! Very cheap yet very powerful! It's was plug and play for the most part. I just had to have my Windows XP Wizard look for the drive in the CD drive with the Linksys CD. After it was installed, all I had to do was match the Wireless Network Connection Properties with a another laptop which uses to the same internet connection. I was good to go after that with no problems.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-06-08

I bought this less than a week ago from the time I wrote this review. The adapter is simply awesome, its incredible. I just plugged it in and automatically a window came up with the wireless connections available nearby. There was really nothing to configure, just plug and play. I recommend this to everyone.

5 out of 5 stars Easy Install and Great Range.......2007-06-16

My mother and I were looking for a wireless internet card for her laptop. She has an older laptop running Windows ME. We searched around and this wireless card had the best reviews of any on this site. So we went and bought one. The installation was simple (took about 5 minutes). We live in a house behind the main house. The main house has the wireless router, yet in our house (about 60 feet away through numerous walls) the reception is amazing with a whopping four bars. The CD with the installation drivers worked fine and dandy and there was no trouble with the product whatsoever. I would most certainly buy Belkin products again!

5 out of 5 stars wireless card.......2007-05-08

Easy to install, followed instructions on the cd. I use this card in an old school building, the reception is excellent. Have used for a few months now without any problem.

4 out of 5 stars Good Purchase!.......2007-05-07

This card is a great investment if you do not have built-in capabilities. Easy to install and works well with the belkin router. I would definately purchase this product again.

5 out of 5 stars Great product.......2007-04-04

This card work fine, as advertised. Install was a breeze. I highly recommend it to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Good Choice.......2007-03-10

I am happy with this wireless card. I have several computers that I have installed wireless cards on. This one was one the easiest one to install, because the software worked the first time. I have had trouble in the past with some other well known brands, but this card was installed and working in a few minutes. I haven't tried it outside of my house yet so I don't know what kind of range it has, but it works well in my house. Before this I had a wireless usb card and it broke because it projected out of the back of my Dell laptop and when I would set the laptop down, it was usually the back first and so it became damaged. This card does not project out nearly as far as the usb type and also comes out the side so I don't have to worry about damaging it. I highly recommend this card.

even when the connection is horrible i can allways get like 12 Gigs a second wich is more than i'l ever need :)

5 out of 5 stars Easy to Install, Works Great.......2007-06-15

I was concerned about buying this and installing it in my Vista system after reading some of the concerns people had. But let me tell you this was so easy, even I was shocked. I opened up my case, slide the card in place, attached the antenna and started my PC. That was it, Vista installed the drivers and I was all connected. I consistently have over 95% connection strength, which is a lot compared to my iMac G5 which is right next to this PC and often shows on 50% connection to my Linksys Router. I don't notice any speed difference between this and my wired network. I would definitely recommend buying this.

1 out of 5 stars Not good.......2007-06-01

I purchased this because MN-730 was very hard to find. This adapter's weak. My connection would get disconnected at least twice a day (this never happened with MN-730 no matter how weak the signal was). I had to return them. Amazon gave me a full refund so that's good. 5 stars for Amazon. 1 star for this item.

5 out of 5 stars No problem, is great.......2007-04-23

I use this card WMP54GS (Ver1.0) with the HGA7S 7dBi antenna, also my router (WRT54GS ver1.1) also have a HGA7T 7dBi antenna kit.

No problem, all works great!!!

4 out of 5 stars Works great once you resolve signal drop problems.......2007-04-09

Frankly, I was ready to throw it out the window. Followed their instructions- installed Linksys software first, then installed card. Card would work at first, then intermittently lose signal / not connect to internet. I called tech support (3) times- first 2 calls were useless- same redundant tests / questions. I must have plugged and unplugged it 4 times. Finally- I paid the $30 for advanced support (after working on it for 5 hours and screaming at my kids) and got through to a girl named Sonali working for Linksys in India. Here's the deal:

Windows XP and Vista (I have XP Pro)have their own wireless adapter software that doesn't get along with the Linksys software that Linksys insists you install prior to installing the card. So.. to resolve this, you need to:

1: Delete the Linksys software for the Adapter- Programs /Linksys / Wireless adapter / UNINSTALL

2: Leave the adapter in the computer and reboot. Ignore the Windows add Hardware routine and let the hardware go as unresolved (the yellow question mark in device manager)

3: Find the Adapter Drivers ONLY and install them in a directory you can find later. The driver file should look something like wmp54GS.inf. I went to the linksys website and downloaded the most current file- then created a folder c:\linksys drivers and pasted the inf file there.

4: Go to Device Manager (My computer / properties / hardware / device manager- right click the unresolved device and update the driver. Follow the steps - don't let it search.. specify location.. and point it to the right file.

5: Now, after the drivers are read and XP id's the adapter, you'll get a wireless icon on the taskbar. Double click- find your connection (your router is broadcasting) and you're in. If you have WEP enabled, then you'll have to enter the key. Remember if you're using a LinkSys WRT54G, you enter a passphrase that generates a WEP key. enter the actual generated key, not the passphrase.

Now you should be set--- Windows wireless will log you on when you boot up and not drop you.

To tweak a little further-- if you have a Linksys WRT54G router- make some settings changes:

Changed the channel on the WRT54G wireless connection to 11 (works better than 6)

In Wireless Advanced Settings-

Changed beacon interval to 75
Changed fragmentation threshold to 2176 and RTS threshold to 2176

Disable Secure Easy Setup

The concept makes sense to me-- and now everything works like lightning.

Product Description

Netgear WG511 802.11g Wireless PC Card - When using the Internet, you have the ability to freely roam websites with ease. However, accessing this vast network of information is still a wire-based affair. You must be at a fixed location, tethered to the wall, like a dog on a leash. Now with 802.11 wireless technology, that connection has been severed, allowing you to wirelessly access both the Internet, and other computers wherever you choose. This 802.11g PC Card fits into your laptop's PCMCIA slot, allowing it to connect to any 802.11g, or 802.11b wireless access point within range.

Amazon.com Product Description

Netgear's 54 Mbps Wireless PC Card offers speeds up to nearly five times faster than widely deployed IEEE 802.11b wireless networks found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the globe. It works with devices that are compatible with both the 802.11b and 802.11g draft wireless standards to keep you connected today and tomorrow.

Put it in your notebook PC and no matter where you are, at home, at the office, at the airport or in other public access areas, this versatile adapter automatically selects the best connection available, giving you constant access to corporate resources, e-mail, and the Internet. Use it to quickly network employees, saving the time and expense of Ethernet cabling. Easy to set up and use with Netgear's Install Wizard, the PC Card auto-selects the best available connection and adapts the settings to match. And with up to 128-bit WEP encryption, you can rest assured that your wireless network communications are private.

Fully IEEE 802.11b (2.4 GHz) compliant for wireless network access from your notebook PC, this PC Card has both standards built in, so you can connect your notebook to existing 802.11b infrastructure, and also to the high-speed networks based on the 802.11g specification. Dynamic rate shifting according to environmental conditions achieves the fastest possible connections.

The Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless PC Card supports office roaming for notebook PC users for shared broadband Internet access and resources, and provides maximum mobility from home, the office, the airport, and other public access areas. And the Netgear Wireless LAN Manager lets you create profiles that reflect specific WLAN settings for each place you travel.

The PC Card comes with a 3-year warranty and it compatible with Windows 98, Me, 2000, or XP.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Works better than most others.......2007-06-03

I've learned a while back that the wireless connection is more temperamental then wired and the signal a lot weaker and more prone to interruptions. This pretty much is a fact regardless of which adapter you put in and the difference between a B and G is almost unnoticeable. The netgear is one of a few that is backward compatible with older operating systems. I use it on an older Sony laptop running WIN 98 and the connection is good most of the times. Hard to beat it for the price.

4 out of 5 stars Great Wireless.......2007-05-30

If you own the Netgear router for this card so that your network supports MIMO then you are going to love this card. I had some issues with the software until I realized that I needed to bypass the setup CD and get the drivers on the internet to resolve many issues. After I got it up and running then I've been gettin 108Mps through out the house on both floors and every corner. I was using a linksys before, but the MIMO seems to be the place to be until they get the "N" technology out in the market full force.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Service.......2007-05-07

I really like the fast, prompt, and couteous Service that I recieved.

4 out of 5 stars I have never had any problems with product........2007-04-06

This has worked very well for me. I have no frame of reference as to how a different model might work in comparison, but this model always worked perfectly.

2 out of 5 stars Weak Signal.......2007-03-31

Don't know if it's the card or the wireless router but have a weak room-to-room signal. Changing channels on wireless router and doing a router upgrade as offered by Netgear tech support did not help. Tech suppport did offer additional phone support which I have not pursued.

5 out of 5 stars Inexpensive PCI Adapter Woks!!.......2007-03-18

I was well pleased with this WiFi adapter in not only was the price right, but it came with well written (for a change) instructions.

The graphic display of the conditions of your Internet Connection were far more detailed than anything you could get from XP with Service Pack 2 and I'm running it on Windows Millenium.

4 out of 5 stars Mojo Cool.......2007-05-23

I really like this. I would give this a 5 if there is a vertical scroll bar of sort. Smooth to use and easy to store and retrieve.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent, simple to use product.......2007-05-17

The MoGo has been great - there is no setup, no driver, nothing extra - just plug the MoGo into the PC card slot, read through the directions once, and go. I love that I always have the mouse with me without having to remember to carry or charge it. And the mouse action is very smooth and the form is easy to get used to.
My only complaint, and the reason I only gave 4 stars, is the lack of the scroll button. Maybe the next version? Otherwise, perfect!

4 out of 5 stars Great but.............2007-05-16

Product is tremendous and delivers as promised. The only thing that I miss terribly is the scroll wheel option. I knew it did not have this functionality when I bought it but I ddin't realize how much I would notice it was missing until it was gone. Product would be perfect if it had that functionality.

4 out of 5 stars PoGo MoGo Logo Soho.......2007-05-13

Rejoice laptop users, for a transportable bluetooth mouse has emerged in the market! The Bluetooth MoGo mouse fits perfectly in the PCI slot for your laptops (well, unless you don't have one). Not only does this count as storage, but it also duals as a charger for this wireless device.

Function-wise, the mouse is perfect. The computer perfectly syncs with bluetooth and responds well with little to no lag. It's not as exact or sensitive as a laser mouse, but it's still good.

Overall, I like the product and my brother likes it more, since it's his now. I'd recommend it for someone using it for laptop uses. It's more for navigation then gaming and photoshop, so don't expect stellar performance.

5 out of 5 stars Best Bluetooth Mouse... Period........2007-05-07

Perfect form factor...stores in PC card slot...always charged...great tracking...everything you could want in a mouse (except the scroll wheel).

5 out of 5 stars A GREAT buy!.......2007-05-29

For the money I was a little skeptical. Beings how the card at the Cingular store was nearly 40 bucks! I got two of theese cards for less than half the money of what they wanted, and so far they work GREAT! I used them in my Motorolla KRZR and they work flawlessly. Don't hesitate on this great deal!

5 out of 5 stars great item.......2007-05-14

I got it 1 month ago and is great, i used on my Motorola slvr L7 and is great, no cons ......

3 out of 5 stars Did not work with my Motorola V360 .......2007-05-08

Pros- Very cheap, handy and store about 100 songs.
Cons- It did not work with my Motorola V360 phone. I transferred songs from my computer to the 512 mb microsd card and inserted in the phone. The phone does not recognize the microsd card and suggested me to format it. When I started to format, it failed to format. My phone is working fine with 64 mb microsd card.

5 out of 5 stars Great deal!.......2007-05-06

Great price...I could not believe it. Very fast delivery. Product works well in my device.

3 out of 5 stars Works for what it was designed.......2007-03-24

Bought this card for my LG CU500, phone picked it up right away as soon as it was plugged in (unlike the Kingston 1024/1GB card). Computer recognized it as soon as the phone was plugged in via USB as well. Downside is what appears to be a low data rate.

Pro's - Inexpensive, small - easy to carry extras, broad compatablity with included SD adapter (works fine in my Canon G7).

Con's - Low data throughput (If I tried to send more than ~10MB at a time, the data buffer would overflow and the card would loose its formatting) <-Thats a big con if you ask me. Small - easy to loose. (Havent lost one yet, but came close on one of my 2GB cards)

Product Description

Buffalo AirStation G54 Wireless PCI Network Adapter - This network adapter supports 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks. Allowing a desktop computer to wirelessly access the Internet, e-mail, transfer files and more! It also features Buffalo's latest wireless technologies: AOSS and 125 High Speed Mode. AOSS stands for AirStation OneTouch Secure System. It literally secures your system with the touch of a button (optional AOSS router required). 125 High Speed Mode boosts transfer rates to levels that are equivalent to 802.11g networks running at 125Mbps!!

Amazon.com Product Description

The AirStation WLI2-PCI-G54S 125 High Speed Mode Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter offers a fast and flexible wireless solution for your desktop PC. With Buffalo's exclusive AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS), creating a secure wireless connection is now hassle-free. The low profile design of the wireless PCI adapter can accommodate desktops with either full size or low profile PCI slots. The 125 High Speed Mode Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter adheres to the IEEE 802.11g standard and is interoperable with any 802.11b device. Using the included antenna connector, the detachable antenna can be replaced with a 2.4 GHz antenna for flexible placement or extended range.

When operating in High Speed Mode, this AirStation achieves an actual throughput of up to 34.1 Mbps, which is the equivalent throughput of a system following 802.11g protocol and operating at a signaling rate of 125Mbps.

What Is AOSS? Setting up a secure wireless network can be too complicated, involving many tedious steps and requiring a certain level of expertise to complete. BuffaloÕs AirStation OneTouch Secure System (AOSS) allows you to create a hi-speed secure wireless connection with a push of a button and a click of the mouse. AOSS automatically detects and configures other AOSS enabled wireless devices and clients and seamlessly creates secure connections. As you add additional devices, security is negotiated at the highest level possible for all devices on the network. Say, for example, that you have one AOSS client that supports both WEP and WPA level encryption, while another client that supports only WEP. The AirStation automatically adjusts the security level to one that both clients will support.

What's in the Box
This package contains the AirStation 125 High Speed Mode Wireless PCI Card, low-profile bracket, antenna exchange adapter, CD-ROM with drivers and manual, and printed Quick Setup Guide. It's backed by 24/7 toll-free tech support and a 2-year warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Wireless Technology.......2007-06-27

This product is absolutely terrible. It will not work with Vista. It gives you the blue screen of death, and has a dialup + connection. It's got broadband speeds but disconnects from the wireless network just like a dialup connection. It kills hard drives by making Vista freeze up. Vista is unstable because of this piece of junk which overheats and disconnects from the network.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY NETGEAR PRODUCTS.......2007-06-16

I bought this wireless adapter about 2 years ago, and discontinued using it after about two months because the connection was very sporadic and slow. Their customer support staff was totally and completely unhelpful. I later found out that part of the problem was the Netgear wireless router, which was unreliable in its ability to transmit the signals, and I had to unplug and then fully restart both the cable modem and the router several times a day. I switched to a Netgear wire router, which was only slightly more reliable and was able to deliver higher speeds, but I still found myself unplugging and restarting every few days.

I recently bought a new non-Netgear wireless router (Linksys, which works great), and the Netgear adapter seems to be working well, that is, until it starts to overheat. It only takes a few hours for it to overheat and it just stops working, so I have to unplug it to let it cool down then replug. I've read that others have been experiencing the same problem with their wireless adapters.

After trying 3 different Netgear products, I would NEVER AGAIN buy another product from them. Their products are inferior and prone to problems, and good luck getting technical support. Save your money and avoid headaches, DON'T BUY NETGEAR.
