Great Idea.......2007-06-13
Nice card at a great price.......2007-06-13
Great tool for Win-mobile development.......2007-03-23
Additionally the case is perfect for carrying a demo to a customer.
There are some problems, however. The first day I had the set, I plugged in the mini adapter into a pda, then tried to insert the trans-flash card into the adapter, I ended up missing, and the 1GB flash drive is still lodged into the device.
My only other complaint is that you cannot achieve the Russian Doll effect with this adapter. The full sized card fits the trans-flash, not the mini-flash card. A minor grievance, but something that others would find a positive feature.

Linksys WUSB11 Wireless-B USB Network Adapter v4

Product Description
The Linksys WUSB11 USB Wireless Network Adapter is perfect if you're looking to start a wireless network, or just want an easy way to connect to an existing one. With this external adapter you can access a wireless 802.11b from any notebook or desktop's USB port. Free driver/firmware upgrades Free technical support - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (for North America only) Includes - USB cable & driver utility CD-ROMAmazon.com Review
If good things come in small packages, the WUSB11 from Linksys makes a great addition to a wireless network. Measuring about the size of a deck of cards and weighing just shy of 3 ounces, this little device fits nearly anywhere and is easily stowed in a notebook computer case. Simple USB connectivity makes it compatible with any modern PC, and also makes it easy to swap from one computer to another.Provided you already have a wireless router or Internet gateway set up, installing the WUSB11 is a snap. We plugged it into a USB port on a test PC, executed the installation program on the included PC, and once the system rebooted we were connected to the network without being tethered to any wires. The unit draws its power directly from the USB port, leaving users with one less cord to lug around and one less device to plug into a wall outlet. We tested the device on a PC located 40 feet laterally and one floor above the wireless router and didn't even need to extend the tiny antenna to get good reception. Should you need to use the antenna, it extends at either 90 degrees or 180 degrees, meaning it will work whether the unit is sitting flat on a desk or mounted vertically on a wall using the included Velcro strips.
Performance was impressive. As an 802.11b product the WUSB11 supports a maximum speed of 11 Mbps and real-world speeds hovered around that mark in our tests. The signal was strong and consistent, making it great for gaming or transferring large files without worrying about a disconnect halfway through. There are only two indicator lights on the unit itself that tell you it's working--a power light and another light that blinks when data is transmitting--but the included software tools allow for a much more detailed picture. Using these utilities we were able to keep an eye on the signal strength (it never dipped below 95 percent), configure the built-in encryption settings, and perform other security and monitoring tasks.
The device is designed to fall back to lower speeds instead of cutting off trans missions completely when it reaches the limits of its range or experiences signal problems. In a normal-size home you should have no trouble maintaining the 11 Mbps signal, but if you wander outdoors with a notebook or are plagued by signal interference, overall transmission speed can step down to 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or even 1 Mbps depending on conditions. Even at the lowest speed the device is fast enough for speedy Internet browsing (most users won't see any slowdown at all in that area, even for downloads), although transferring files across the network is painfully slow at the lower speeds.
No matter what, if you plan mainly to transfer large files over your network, you'll probably want the extra speed 802.11a or 802.11g devices offer. Of course, you'll also have to absorb the extra cost associated with those products. The WUSB11 is a fantastic 802.11b device for the money, working perfectly straight out of the box, and its low weight and small size make it a viable alternative to a PCMCIA wireless network card for notebook users. Just make sure the computer you want to connect it to doesn't use Windows 95 or NT, because the unit is incompatible with those two operating systems. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Simple installation and configuration
- Mounts either horizontally or vertically
- Included software provides useful details without overwhelming users with mi nutia
- So light that the weight of the USB cord can pull it off a desk
- Maximum 11 Mbps transmission speed may be too slow for some users

Windows XP and Vista (I have XP Pro)have their own wireless adapter software that doesn't get along with the Linksys software that Linksys insists you install prior to installing the card. So.. to resolve this, you need to:
1: Delete the Linksys software for the Adapter- Programs /Linksys / Wireless adapter / UNINSTALL
2: Leave the adapter in the computer and reboot. Ignore the Windows add Hardware routine and let the hardware go as unresolved (the yellow question mark in device manager)
3: Find the Adapter Drivers ONLY and install them in a directory you can find later. The driver file should look something like wmp54GS.inf. I went to the linksys website and downloaded the most current file- then created a folder c:\linksys drivers and pasted the inf file there.
4: Go to Device Manager (My computer / properties / hardware / device manager- right click the unresolved device and update the driver. Follow the steps - don't let it search.. specify location.. and point it to the right file.
5: Now, after the drivers are read and XP id's the adapter, you'll get a wireless icon on the taskbar. Double click- find your connection (your router is broadcasting) and you're in. If you have WEP enabled, then you'll have to enter the key. Remember if you're using a LinkSys WRT54G, you enter a passphrase that generates a WEP key. enter the actual generated key, not the passphrase.
Now you should be set--- Windows wireless will log you on when you boot up and not drop you.
To tweak a little further-- if you have a Linksys WRT54G router- make some settings changes:
Changed the channel on the WRT54G wireless connection to 11 (works better than 6)
In Wireless Advanced Settings-
Changed beacon interval to 75
Changed fragmentation threshold to 2176 and RTS threshold to 2176
Disable Secure Easy Setup
The concept makes sense to me-- and now everything works like lightning.

Overall, I like the product and my brother likes it more, since it's his now. I'd recommend it for someone using it for laptop uses. It's more for navigation then gaming and photoshop, so don't expect stellar performance.

Did not work with my Motorola V360 .......2007-05-08
Cons- It did not work with my Motorola V360 phone. I transferred songs from my computer to the 512 mb microsd card and inserted in the phone. The phone does not recognize the microsd card and suggested me to format it. When I started to format, it failed to format. My phone is working fine with 64 mb microsd card.
Great deal!.......2007-05-06
Works for what it was designed.......2007-03-24
Pro's - Inexpensive, small - easy to carry extras, broad compatablity with included SD adapter (works fine in my Canon G7).
Con's - Low data throughput (If I tried to send more than ~10MB at a time, the data buffer would overflow and the card would loose its formatting) <-Thats a big con if you ask me. Small - easy to loose. (Havent lost one yet, but came close on one of my 2GB cards)

AOSS stands for AirStation OneTouch Secure System. It literally secures your system with the touch of a button (optional AOSS router required). 125 High Speed Mode boosts transfer rates to levels that are equivalent to 802.11g networks running at 125Mbps!!Amazon.com Product Description
The AirStation WLI2-PCI-G54S 125 High Speed Mode Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter offers a fast and flexible wireless solution for your desktop PC. With Buffalo's exclusive AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS), creating a secure wireless connection is now hassle-free. The low profile design of the wireless PCI adapter can accommodate desktops with either full size or low profile PCI slots. The 125 High Speed Mode Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter adheres to the IEEE 802.11g standard and is interoperable with any 802.11b device. Using the included antenna connector, the detachable antenna can be replaced with a 2.4 GHz antenna for flexible placement or extended range. When operating in High Speed Mode, this AirStation achieves an actual throughput of up to 34.1 Mbps, which is the equivalent throughput of a system following 802.11g protocol and operating at a signaling rate of 125Mbps.
What Is AOSS? Setting up a secure wireless network can be too complicated, involving many tedious steps and requiring a certain level of expertise to complete. BuffaloÕs AirStation OneTouch Secure System (AOSS) allows you to create a hi-speed secure wireless connection with a push of a button and a click of the mouse. AOSS automatically detects and configures other AOSS enabled wireless devices and clients and seamlessly creates secure connections. As you add additional devices, security is negotiated at the highest level possible for all devices on the network. Say, for example, that you have one AOSS client that supports both WEP and WPA level encryption, while another client that supports only WEP. The AirStation automatically adjusts the security level to one that both clients will support.
What's in the Box
This package contains the AirStation 125 High Speed Mode Wireless PCI Card, low-profile bracket, antenna exchange adapter, CD-ROM with drivers and manual, and printed Quick Setup Guide. It's backed by 24/7 toll-free tech support and a 2-year warranty.
Tech Talk
- AES: The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is the U.S. government's next-generation cryptography algorithm, phasing out the older DES format.
- TKIP: The next generation of WEP, the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP, pronounced tee-kip) provides per-packet key mixing, a message integrity check and a re-keying mechanism to secure 802.11 wireless LANs.
- WEP: A data encryption method used to protect transmission between 802.11 clients and access points, the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) standard is now considered insufficient, with WPA encryption a more secure choice.
- WPA: Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) improves the security of 802.11 networks, using 802.1x and EAP to restrict network access and its own encryption (TKIP) to secure data during transmission.

DO NOT BUY NETGEAR PRODUCTS.......2007-06-16
I recently bought a new non-Netgear wireless router (Linksys, which works great), and the Netgear adapter seems to be working well, that is, until it starts to overheat. It only takes a few hours for it to overheat and it just stops working, so I have to unplug it to let it cool down then replug. I've read that others have been experiencing the same problem with their wireless adapters.
After trying 3 different Netgear products, I would NEVER AGAIN buy another product from them. Their products are inferior and prone to problems, and good luck getting technical support. Save your money and avoid headaches, DON'T BUY NETGEAR.
