Brand new out of the box it had dust that showed up on ALL my slide scans. I couldn't get rid of it. It's going back.

Very Poor focus, scanned photos not sharp.......2007-06-19

This is the 4th Scanner I have owned. From a Acer to HP . Purchased this because it had a film and slide scan function that was advertised as producing clear and sharp copies. But this individual one was a factory slip up.
Scans of flat photos are not as sharp as any of the previous scanners produced. Nor are the slide scans as sharp as those I got from a Genie scanner 7 years ago.
Needs to have a focus test as part of the factory acceptance tests, AND a acceptable standard passed before shipment, with the result included with the unit..

Amazing for the price.......2007-06-16

This is the best scanner I have ever used, and for the price - it is WELL worth it. It scans negatives and slides (and everything else) incredibly well and I've never had any problems with it. I would highly recommend.

After reading all these great reviews, I bought this product on this website for only $99 and thought it was the deal of the year. The scanner came and worked perfect for about a month, then strange things started to happen. First, the lamp scanner would lock in the middle of a scan. Then it started making a very strange grinding noise. Finally, it would not turn on. No power. I could have returned it, gotten it fixed, blah blah. Instead, I threw it away and chalked it up as a loss. I'd recommend another scanner.

Good scanner, though kind of slow. My only real complaint is the extra length this beast has! I don't need the slide scan extras that come with it, but the price was a super deal when I bought it. I figured the extra parts could stay in the box. However, they made this thing with extended length to the case to accomidate the slides features, and it does not sit in the space I have for a scanner. It's only able to scan one 8.5 x 11 inch page at a time, so why does it need 22 inches of length (with cords plugged in)!?! Other than that, it's a good mid-priced model.

Over the last 45 years, or so, I have amassed close to 9,000 slides, in varoiud formats; 16 mm, 35 mm, 2-14" and 2-1/4" X 3-14". I am scanning and edting all the pictures for my family. The scanner does a wondeful job.

I ordered this Cannon scanner and got it the Next Day! That may have just been because of where I lived but what a pleasent surprize. It worked perfect and I got it cheap. Great job Amazon!

No Quality Control.......2005-10-01

I bought this scanner knowing this was a refurbished item. Amazon delivered it on-time and as usual the service from Amazon was excellent. The scanner is another thing.

First, the scanner was not locked as it should have been when I opened it. But that is not a big deal. The problem was that this scanner came with a bad lamp right out of the box! All scans had a bright yellow and red color in them (even white documents). The Canon customer service confirmed this and were ready to send another one. But I decided to return it to Amazon anyway.

What struck me is that they promised it to be "FACTORY REFURBISHED" and they did not check such a basic thing as if it scans correctly or not. This makes me think that Canon just repacks them and takes a chance that it may be good. Decided to go with another brand and stick with brand new!

Amazon quickly refunded the full amount. I give 5 stars to Amazon and 1 to Canon.

Worth the money.......2005-09-27

I recived my scanner in 5 days and used it right away. It works great! However the softwere, Presto,page manager has quit working. I have not deleated it yet and reinstalled it. Other than that, it's just what I needed.
