works great, once I took the time out to figure things out even the the quick buttons on the front of the scanner worked but its not intuitive. So its 4 stars cause I can't give it a 4 1/2

Great price/Value.......2007-01-05

This is a very good and economical scanner. It is much more reliable than the two Visoneer Scanners I previously owned. They were always losing their connections midway through a scan, at boot up, etc. I can count on this machine. The fact that this scanner will by default automatically save to the universal PDF format is another plus.
I like the pre-scan automatic recognition feature. It does a great job with both color and black and white text documents, and is reasonably good with photographs. I would not suggest it for scanning slides nor any other scanner of this class for that matter. For slides of high and reliable quality you should get a dedicated slide scanner such as those made by Nikon and Canon.
I heartily recommend this scanner.

Effective and speedy.......2006-07-21

This works as expected, but I really disliked the Mac software it came with and opted to scan and edit via Photoshop. Also, it only scans 3 slides/pass. Sorta lame if you have hundreds to do.

Good scanner, a little noisy........2006-04-02

Pretty good quality scans. The holder for scanning in film negatives works pretty well. Though you can only scan in 4 or 5 at a time. It is a bit noisy though.

GREAT for slides.......2006-03-24

So far I've only tried it on slides.
In PRO MODE it works WONDERS. 3 at a time, takes about a minute per slide at about 1800+2000 pixels, 300dpi. each pic JPG is about 200K in size. And you can freely change the size to smaller or larger, or change the area to be scanned to just a cropped portion of any or all 3 slides. GREAT bundled software, and a fabulous product for under $100. Can't wait to try negatives and hard copy stuff. Very easy to connect also, just plug to USB port and AC outlet. It's also very sleek and stylish, in case beauty matters to you (as it should, many guys need to learn this when selecting wives).
