Think Twice about Epson Products.......2007-06-21

Some might call this sour grapes but I think it more of a "buyer beware" warning that I wish I had known about before I bought the Epson Scanner.

Epson will not provide downloads of the bundled software that came with this scanner. I bought a scanner and we had a basement flood. The scanner was fine but the box it came in (along with software) was tossed with everything else that was on the ground. I now find that Epson wants to charge to replace rather than allow a download. I am not the only one with this problem. Just google epson smart panel download and you will see what I mean. Smart Panel is the software that makes it work.

Caveat emptor folks, Buyer beware.

I bought this for my daughter who just graduated Interior Design school. It is a newer version of the one at the school and she was thrilled with it's performance. She scanned fabrics among other things and it gave her the detail she was after.

Buy the Canoscan 8600F instead.......2007-06-07

I brought this through Amazon. It was difficult to use. The software is not very intuitive. It was shipped with Elements 2.0, which is obsolete. The scans were unsatisfactory. After trying to get this machine to work, I gave up and returned it to Amazon.

I have since bought the Canoscan 8600F from Amazon. It is a great product, and includes the current version of Elements, 4.0.

Tempermantal performance. Support service lousy. Supplies Adobe Photoelements 2.0. So old Adobbe wont support for problems. When it works, very good.
