Agfa's DuoScan T2500 is an A4 flatbed scanner geared towards professionaland graphic arts applications, for both Windows PCs and Power Macintosh G3systems. Delivering sharp, consistent color, the T2500 produces high-quality slide, negative, and reflective scans at up to 2,500-dpi opticalresolution, 36-bit (12 bits per color), and a 3.4D density range, meetingthe precision required for prepress and print projects.
Standard 2,500-dpi optical resolution is produced for reflective scanning upto 4 by 14 inches, and for transmissive scanning up to 4 by 12 inches. Higherresolutions (2,500 x 1,250 dpi) are produced for reflective scanning up to 8by 14-inches, and for transmissive in an 8-by-12-inch area. A 4-by-5-inchimage is scanned at 1,000 dpi in 23 seconds in preview mode, 50 second forstandard. An A4 color print is produced at 1,000 dpi in 120 seconds.
Combining the TwinPlate design with the dual-lens system provides separate,built-in reflective and film-scanning surfaces. These can be loadedindependently and scanned consecutively. Dual lenses support the full bedwidth to be scanned at medium resolution (1,250 dpi optical) or half of thewidth at high resolution (2,500 dpi optical). In high resolution mode, youcan enlarge a 35mm slide up to more than A3 format (11 by 17 inches).
The removable batch film holders are practical for high-volume batchscanning, by allowing you to quickly load slide or negative films intomultiple holders while scanning continues. Along with an SCSI-2 interface, the T2500 has a software package that includes Agfa FotoLook for Mac or PC,and Agfa ColorTune. The Agfa DuoScan T2500 scanner is supported by a one-year warranty.

Mediocre at everything.......2006-07-19
It is supposed to be a high-resolution (2500 dpi) scanner, but only half of the scanning area is high-res. Which means if you're scanning reflective art larger than 4x6, you are limited to 1200 dpi. Pretty lame.
If you can pick one up for $100, it might be worth it if you've got s SCSI card and a lot of desk space.
We bought this thing brand-new, and I was never happy with it. Then we started shooting with digital cameras, and it's been sitting in a closet ever since. These days, we don't even have a computer with a SCSI card to hook it up to.
It's old technology now, but it wasn't great, even when it was cutting-edge.
