I waited for this book a long time. I can truly understand how Genna loved David so much,she could not bring herself to leave him.What I don`t understand is why she did not fight back.I enjoyed the book and I got to know D.R. better.I love him still. He needed help also.

Since I am a big fan of The Temptations and especially David Ruffin....I was anxious to read the story of a woman who spent her life loving him.
As I read the book, I came to know David and felt the pain and love Genna shared with him. For anyone who has loved and lost....this is a wonderful book. I truly enjoyed it.

Don't Be Tempted.......2007-02-17

The idea of this book being a love story is interesting, you want to read about David Ruffin outside the spotlight from the mother of his son. However, the entire book was like the writer sat down and started typing, turned in the book and it went to print. Events flash back and forth, words are underlined, and one never quite understands what about the relationship that made her put up with abuse and other women. Supposedly, the lies began from day one so what was the glue again? I love Motown and the idea of reading about the real deal of any of the many stars is appealing, but I found no real deal here. Also, to the author, with regards to the "letter to Otis," where exactly would you have fit in the movie about the Temptations?

I have had the pleasure of purchasing the above book and recieved the e-book from the Author Genna Sapia-Ruffin, whom I have conversed with frequently concerning the contents of her book, I have (purchased a copy) through Genna's web site. I found this book to be a Love Story that Mrs. Ruffin, experienced with the Legendary Motown Legend David Eli Ruffin, this story is captavating, sad and empowering. I came across her story by sheer accident while researching information on David Rufin's band mate Paul Williams, whom I am closely related to, and needed information concerning the mystery surrounding his death; for years I have followed the career of the "The Temptations" via Paul Williams, and have come to know and love all the members of this magical group.

My all time favorites were Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and the controversial David Ruffin. Ms. Genna Ruffin's Memoir of her very special and favorite "Temptation" David Eli Ruffin, whom she met at the beginning of his musical career with The Temptations it take you on a literary journey of her life before Ruffin, her susequent courtship with David, and her life with David, during his meteoric rise in fame with the group. She candidly reveals the sweet nuturing side of the man that fans all over the world came to know and love; also her personal experiences while dealing with his dark-sided nature. The years the pleasure and the pain of loving a mega-super star.

During the timeframe when David, departed the group, (more or less) when he was asked to step down from the proverbial throne. Its a testimony to the solo career that David, forged for himself, and the how his career took off on another course when Eddie Kendricks, Dennis Edwards and David Ruffin's fame ultimately soared as a stellar musical trio with the precision the fans of old still loved and embraced them and recognized them still has the powerhouse performers of "The Temptations." They were indeed the voices of MOTOWN. Genna, also provides insight into the inner workings of the Motown sound; and sadly the tragic demise of the Legends of Soul. David, had a powerful vocal range that few could duplicate. Sadly he was taken away from his public but his legacy lives on. For all you Baby Boomers out there who had the pleasure of growing up in the turbulent 60's this book is a must have for all you hardcore David Ruffin fans.

FOR THE LOVE OF "DAVID RUFFIN".......2006-12-21

Sensational!!! I could not put this book down once I began to read it. Every young woman should read it. So many of us (women, especialy we older ones) have "been there, done that" in some way shape, form or fashion. A this is a beautiful love story: of survival and overcoming many obstacles of life - and understanding the true meaning of "unconditional love." This is a wonderful testimony to all young women who are/will/have looked for love in the wrong places and when do find that true unconditional love - it has slipped away. Genna experienced joy and pain all for the love of "David Ruffin."

It took trememdous courage to write this book. It is filled with real life experiences which we all go through, but seldom are able to talk about, much less write and publish it for the world to see.

The Temptations were and still are my favorite male singing group. David Ruffin was special. He had a voice that could make you feel in your heart the story being sung in the lyrics. I never missed a show when Motown came to K-town (Knoxville).
