Product Description
All of the songs on this recording are based upon and inspired by the ancient songs of the Mbira Dzavadzimu, a sacred instrument of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. The music was arranged and composed for the all acoustic Mariba Orchestra by combining the melodic structure of the ancient Mbira songs with central and west African rhythmical elements. To this foundation were added original lyrics, melodies, and western harmonies to set the spirit soaring while the body is submersed in the dancable beat. 10 songs, 58 minutes.
