I've been a fan of Jon Secada's since the first time I ever heard Just Another Day. In fact, that is still one of the few songs in the universe that I could hear over and over and not ever get tired of.
Not only is he a talented singer with a great voice, he wrote every single song on here but Time Heals. He writes songs not only for himself, but he's worked with Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin to name only two people.
On this cd, the standout songs are Just Another Day, Angel and Do You Believe In Us. Angel is possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It's a stunning ballad. The only way to see if you agree with me, is to get a copy of this for yourself, and you will not be disappointed. It's so good and the kind of cd that doesn't date easily. I still love it now even though it came out in 1992.

Actually, I was looking for the spanish version of this album-Otro Dia mas sin verte-but i never found it. This is an excellent album with very easy to hear songs, and not to mention that contains the greatest Jon Secada hits:Angel,Just Another day without you!!!And you can actually hear Gloria Stefans backing vocals!

This is the one to have if you only have one of his cds. All the hits are here of course & some that are not as widely known. This cd will keep you dancing & singing along throughout. Ballads are mixed in with faster paced songs, which I prefer. There is definitely something for everyone on here.

Same Dream is Jon Secada's first album of original English-language tunes in five years, and it finds him gunning for a second round of commercial success. Secada soared through the early '90s as a hugely successful, pop-crossover star via the hits "Just Another Day" and "Angel." His flame faded quickly, however, and he's spent the time since then penning hits for the likes of Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Patricia Manterola and Jaci Velasquez. Time will tell if radio listeners weaned on 50 Cent and Ashlee Simpson will warm to Secada's earnest brand of shiny-happy pop. Whatever happens, it's a real treat to hear the Cuban singer wrap his emotive vocals around catchy choruses and strong melodies. In fact, Secada's middle-of-the-road pop seems downright revolutionary when stacked against so many ironic rock stars and mad-dog hip-hoppers. There's a free-and-easy vibe that permeates much of Same Dream, from the noble strains of kick-off track "Bring on the Sun" to the breezy appeal of "Window to My Heart." A clever Hall & Oates sample anchors "My Baby Don't Rock Like That," and "Tender Love" finds Secada slipping easily into a summery R&B groove, complete with guest rap breaks and cooing female vocals. As a bonus, Same Dream includes Secada's takes on a pair of big hits he penned for other artists. He manages a serviceable, if similar, version of "She's All I Ever Had," a big ballad for Martin. But Secada infuses "Coming Out of the Dark," a signature Estefan tune, with just enough edge to make it work for him. A bit of a disappointment........2007-01-24

I was not very thrilled with this CD. It starts out OK, with some signature pop sounding songs, with a good pop hook, but then as the CD progresses, most of the songs are ballads. A few songs don't even sound like his voice for some reason. There is a lackluster rendition of "Coming Out of the Dark". Gloria Estefan's version is better. I would not recommend this one. His other English language ones are much better.

I love Jon Secada. His voice is magical and smooth and soulful and I could go on and on. These are great new fresh songs and he hasn't disappointed. I love all of them, except ... It's going to take me a while to like She's All I've Ever Had and Comming Out Of The Dark. I know he wrote them (for Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan respectively), but these versions didn't grab me from the start like the rest of the songs here. I know I'll get to like them soon, I know that I just need a couple of more listens first. The rest of the cd is amazing, and all songs are fantastic. I could cry just listening to the title track Same Dream. His voice really really shines through and the music is beautiful. I especially love the second track Window To My Heart. It's so good, and I also really love the Hall and Oats sampling in My Baby Don't Rock Like That. It's awesome. I wish for his sake he wasn't so underated. He deserves more number 1's. He's talented and undeniably gifted in expressing himself through the music he's written and through his soulful voice. This cd is a must. I highly highly recommend it. Please tour Australia!!!

Beautiful songs, what a mind soothing voice and let's face it folks, Jon Secada is totally hot! This is a beautiful CD, and although I do not speak Spanish, the few songs that were in spanish were wonderful none the less. I never hear about Mr. Secada anymore, which is a shame, he gave us a great gift. Perhaps someday he might bless us again with a new albulm, until then enjoy this one!! I have this CD in my truck, on my computer, and in the CD player!

Fine Adult Contemporary music with impressive vocals.......2004-06-08

This is one of the best album my a male vocalist I have ever heard! I love all the songs on the CD. Those weak male "pop" singers can't possibly compare to Jon's vocal and personality prowess. The music romantic, sentimental and expressive. Seriously, if you don't have the album, you don't know what you are missing!

Anyone who listens to this albulm can definently feel every word he sings. Secada's "Heart, Soul, and a Voice" brings the same stamina as his debut albulm, "Jon Secada". My personal favourites on "Heart, Soul, and A Voice" is the poignant "If You Go", "Mental Picture", and the breakdown ballad, "Eyes of A Fool". I find the whole albulm to be very splendid. Even the Spanish translations of "If You Go"("Se Te Vas")and "Take Me"("Tuyo") are absoultely spectacular. There is not one bad song. This is an albulm you will absolutely cherish over time. For an albulm reaching it's 10th birthday of being released, I have never grown tired of listening to this beautiful man's voice. I truly recommend this albulm to any music lover out there who appreciates amazing talent. You will absolutely love it. I've been a fan since 1992, when I was only 6 years old. Now I am going on 18 years old in December, and I have greatly appreciated the talent from Jon Secada. I want to share the appreciation I have for this man onto you all.

For Jon secada, he remains as one of those Where Are They Now? casualties leftover from VH1. It is just sad that he hasn't released anything new to top Heart, Soul & A Voice. Although my mother has this record and I don't, I still listen to a lot of songs on this record including Mental Picture, and If You Go. It is a strong record, from somebody who sang backup for Gloria Estefan. Hopefully, somebody with a voice like that should try to comeback all the way to the top, but I doubt it will happen.

Truly A Heart, Soul and a Voice.......2002-08-06

I believe ``Heart, Soul & a Voice'' is just about Jon Secada's best album. This album truly and effectively displays Jon's vocal dynamic and range and the mere fact that he studied Jazz vocals at university. I think the thing that makes this album special is that it is by no means ordinary pop or latin pop. It incorporates jazz, latin, blues, pop and rock and of course, great song writing, all in one go. I find myself listening to this album over and over, and never ever get bored. Jon, please continue to bring some of this ``Heart, Soul & a Voice'' quality to your music.

I cannot believe this cd has not gotten more reviews. This is absolutely a beautiful CD. The lyrics are very romantic, and the entire CD just keeps getting better the more that you listen to it. Definitely a must have for romantic music lovers.

Jon should do more like this.......2001-10-05

Jon Secada is a most beautiful and accomplished singer, ranking among the very best of Latin male vocalists. I have always felt that most of his music does not take much advantage of his magical singing voice. You will see why when you listen to Amor, a collection of beautiful love songs song with a degree of passion, and especially musicality that is breathtaking. Not only is Jon's singing exteremly sexy and passionate, but it clear that he is a highly trained musician who knows exactly what he is doing. (Indeed, he has an advanced degree in jazz singing).

While a singer like Alejandro Fernandez (my other favorite) may have a more naturally emotive voice, Jon's technical skills are truly amazing. This is most clear in "Dime Que Sientes", where he does his own background vocals and harmony.

Other songs espcially noteworthy include the gorgeous "Es Por Ti", and "Por Fin".

My only criticsm is that I could do without some of the heavy violin arrangements.
I wish Jon would do more albums like this that really show what he can do. Better yet would be a jazz album, as I understand that is really his background.

I love Mr. Secada as an artist and as a man: this is the album to have, especially if you are in love

I enjoyed this cd very much. It has that great Secada pop sound to every song. One of my favorites is "Believe". I can listen to this song over & over again. I'd encourage every fan of this great artist to get his one. Even though there are not many, if any, radio hits on this one, you will be very glad you got it. You will still be dancing after you finish playing it, the beats will stay in your head!

LOVE AND LOSS..........2000-02-03

I have to admit that I like Jon Secada's music better in Spanish. Not so much because I speak Spanish and understand it, but there is so much more emotion and passion. Why am I reviewing this English version then? Because there are different songs from the Spanish-English versions, so if you want the complete collection, you actually need to buy both. Another thing I'd like to mention is the contribution that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis made on this CD. The duo gained popularity as members of The Time, a former Prince project. They also have worked with countless other bands including The Human League(Human), and how could one forget Janet Jackson. As a result, this CD has more soul than most other Secada efforts, although he covered a Marvin Gay song on Heart, Soul... I really liked most of the songs. "Believe," "Forever," "Ready for Love," and "Too late, Too soon," are very beautiful songs. It was nice to hear The Sounds of Blackness doing back up vocals in a couple songs. I have smiled during this CD, and cried during it, but I guess that is what it is all about...Emotions, living, learning, and loving. Peace... PS- You may want to try and get a hold of "Amor." It was released in 97 I think, only available in Spanish. It is a masterpiece of ballads.

I own all of the Jon Secada CD's (English Versions) and find each one adding a new element of beauty and talent. Jon Secada has one of the most wonderful voices in music today. I lose touch on occasion with his CD's, but, when I place them back in my CD player, I sink into a mood of appreciation, joy, and relaxation!

Recorded live from the Parco Novi Sad, in Modena Italy, on 20 June 1996, this is another of Pavarotti's wonderful concerts to benefit children who are caught up in the horrors of war. Some of the worlds best performers have gotten together for a diverse musical experience that defies language barriers, as well as musical genres. Practically everything is covered on this album. From rock, pop, classical, blues, sacred, jazz and latin...it's all here. Whatever your musical preference, this is an album that should appeal to all in it's diversity, and considering the worthy cause, a necessity for music lovers. And where else will you be able to hear Pavarotti exercising his chops with the likes of Eric Clapton, Liza Minelli, Sheryl Crow, Jon Secada, Joan Osborne and Elton John! And speaking of Sheryl Crow, you cannot miss her singing a Mozart opera aria with Pavarotti. She is truly amazing...who would have believed it. She more than holds her own with the maestro. This CD has two levels of depth. Listen to it as blend of Euro-pop and US big-names, THEN try again.

"Holy Mother" travels from its prayer for strength to the junked-out streets screaming for survival in "Saint Teresa". On the journey continues to Elton's "Live Like Horses"-- his personal tribute to Versace. There, the classical truly melds with contemporary anthem-- and begs us to be free of our self imposed fences and walls. Food for thought and music to soothe the soul. Led by "Stop," a catchy if somewhat bland single that appears in both English and Spanish, the album carries on in the vein of Secada's past work, melding dramatic but not overdone vocals with Latin-lite elements (the acoustic guitar plucking of "Love's About to Change My Mind" and the salsa-meets-surf blend of "Papi") and production touches that are sure to garner the disc play time in a variety of dance-floor settings. While the material is an unsurprisingly mixed bag, the best of it will appeal to Ricky and Marc fans who are ready to (re-)embrace another heartthrob. --Rickey Wright

An OK cd........2007-03-05

I thought this cd was just OK, not his best in my opinion. I would only recommend it to die hard JS fans. I found that the different versions of some of the same songs were not necessary & that they were just used as filler. They could have put some different songs on there as just one version of each of the songs is enough I think. Get some of his other cds, which are better, check out my reviews of this other cds.

One of the most underated singers.......2005-09-06

Jon Secada is brilliant. It's a shame that more people don't know that. I love this cd. The four best songs are, Stop, Speak to the Wind, Better Part of Me and my absolute favourite is Love's About to Change My Mind. I can't understand why he's not been a bigger artist. There is good latin routed sounds on this album and there's a good mix of fast and slow songs. I know you'll love this cd. I do. I wish he'd bring out another english cd.

For anyone that loves good music.......2004-06-06

This album is really good and has Jon's smooth and commanding vocals on it. The Dance-Pop songs like "Papi" and the hit single "Stop" are really good. He really shines on the ballads such as "Break My Walls", "Lost Inside of You",etc., one see why one likes him so much. The album pretty stylish and really good overall. Don't sleep on this CD anyone, this quality music here!

This "Better" Is Far From His Best.......2001-06-06

It's such a shame to see the trajectory with which Jon Secada's once promising career has taken. His last album, probably his best, all but bombed underneath the massive lack of marketing, and this album has met a similar fate, though deservedly so. This is by far his weakest effort, full of sappy adult contemporary ballads that not even his great voice can save. The record moves at a snail's pace, with the occasional uptempo number thrown in. Overall, a wasted effort from someone clearly wasting his vast talent.

I loved this CD! Jon has a very nice voice. My favorite song on this album was track number 5. "There's no sunshine any more." I didn't like the song "Papi" that much, but other than that, all the songs rocked! I love you Jon!
