Caji Ba Bahia

About the Artist
Caji’s dedication and love of Brazilian and world music springs from his upbringing in the culturally rich city of Salvador, Brazil. At the age of 16, Caji began performing in bands accompanied by his electric guitar. He played many musical styles, but his special affinity for Reggae inspired him to devote more time towards composing songs. While earning a degree in Music Therapy, his studies exposed him to the wealth of various musical styles native to Brazil, including Samba, Forro, and Bossa Nova. Playing these styles helped him to develop artistry on the nylon string acoustic guitar and to further find personal expression by embracing his culture’s musical roots.

Caji arrived in Arizona in January of 2003, armed with a musical repertoire that encompasses the traditional composers and performers of Brazil, as well as, the newer styles of popular music that have dominated the Brazilian music scene in recent years. Although difficult to label, the tangible rhythms of Caji’s compositions easily lend themselves to the World Music scene.
