Great addtion!.......2004-07-19
Included, as already stated in the review from Amazon, are the original "The Star Wars Trilogy" CD by Varèse Sarabande (1983, great compilation that is well known for its alternative orchestrating: more pounding percussion), "Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire" by Joel McNeely (1996, well known as well, this CD lacks the booklet that is included in the loose version, it has a single inlay card) and a CD with 10 or so Star Wars themes played out by the Trotter Trio in a restaurant background music fashion. A bit odd. Don't buy this collection for the Trotter Trio CD, in my humble opinion it is not worth the money.
This strange collection is of course a perfect thing for the (Star Wars) film music collector, because of its appearance. (Black cardboard sleeve with three jewel cased CDs in it. The Trilogy CD has a fold-out inlay card with a compilation of photos from the original movies; it is not the inlay card from the original, loose "The Star Wars Trilogy" CD.)
If you do not already own Varèse's Star Wars Trilogy or Shadows of the Empire, this is a great addition to the original three scores! (Which, by the way, you should try to find on the 4 CD box by Arista Records from 1993: Star Wars Trilogy - The Original Soundtrack Anthology!!! It may not contain every single bit and piece of score that is included on the three 1997 Special Edition 2 CD sets, but the sound is far superior, including more bass and less noise, and the ugly Special Edition Victory Celebration did not even exist in those days!!!! Two versions of the Ewok Celebration are included instead. Much better I would say.)
Hope to have been of service.
