Can't stop listening.......2000-03-05

For anyone yearning to get a brilliant sample of the best of Celtic music, this is the CD to have. A magnificent collection of fiddle playing, bagpiping, acordian playing, ballad singing, and even mouth harping, it is impossible to turn off the CD player once the music has started. "The Magic Foot" starts off the CD with a bang, and it only gets better. The Barra MacNeils are up to their tricks again with a truly unique rendition of "Mouth Music", and Alasdair Fraser and Jerry Holland are brilliant as always. Rita MacNeil's voice is stunning in her version of "Come By the Hills," a track that was actually recorded for the Chieftan's produced "Fire in the Kitchen" CD. Track 13 with Fred Morrison and Paul MacDonald once again proves the versatility and uniqueness of the bagpipes. Perhaps the most memorable peformance is "The Blood is Strong," a slow, yet powerful reminder of the strength of the soul.
