Editorial Reviews
On this CD,UBWE, goes beyond the borders of Africa and African music to bring a unique global flavor to his sound. An affinity to experiment with other music genres and a desire to include them in his work makes Nyumbani a truly unique international masterpiece. For instance, track no. 8 Nipe Jibu(Give me an answer)is a rare brew of several music cultures. It starts off classical. The addition of the saxophone and trumpet gives the song a modern jazzy flavor while the conga and cowbell epitomize the Latin influence. UBWE's African guitar and Swahili vocals put the icing on the cake.
UBWE who swears that quality is the last thing he'll compromise, wrote all the eleven songs except track no.1 which he co-wrote with fellow Tanzanian Fadhil Nkurlu. He also produced and engineered all the songs. The entire CD was recorded at UBWE's own Miale Studios.
While African music has had tremendous influence on other forms of music throughout the world, UBWE reckons that it has not received the credit and attention it deserves and hopes he can do something with his music to change this.
Product Description
There's a total of 11 tracks on the Nyumbani CD and all of them are sung in Swahili. The music however,is a blend of various music genres from around the world. Because of UBWE's believe in preserving the environment, he chose to print the CD cover on recycled paper. It may not be much but it's his own little way of saving the earth.
