A meeting of two over-the-top pop minds was said a few years ago to have happened. If work between chest-pounding pop balladeer Celine Dion and legendarily eccentric producer Phil Spector hadn't been aborted in its early stages, fans of the Canadian superstar might have heard her best, most interesting music. As it is, Dion has shown herself game for a challenge, notably in a collaboration with Meat Loaf svengali Jim Steinman on the offbeat opus "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." All the Way... A Decade of Song is just what you'd expect of a multiplatinum seller's greatest-hits package, but it's also more. Displaying a generosity toward her fans, Dion cherry picks nine signature singles ("My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me," "Beauty and the Beast"), then fills the rest of the CD with seven new cuts when one or two would have done the commercial trick. Most of these are just what admirers and detractors would expect, and Sinatra lovers will hope that All the Way's title track is the last time his family allows an invented Frank-and-random-celebrity duet to take place. But the textures of "I Want You to Need Me" and "Live," while hardly understated, are more measured. They give hope that Dion may yet take herself to a higher artistic plateau, while still pleasing her millions of listeners. --Rickey WrightCustomer Reviews:

Canadian thrush Celine Dion is primarily a singles artist, which is a good thing, because the soaring, epic style she brings to nearly all of her material is thrilling in four-minute bursts, but nearly overwhelming at album length. Falling into You is Dion's finest attempt to temper that approach--mixing low-key love songs and dance pop between showstoppers such as "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and the Up Close and Personal movie theme, "Because You Loved Me." Dion's take on Tina Turner's Phil Spector experiment "River Deep, Mountain High" is game, but there's little doubt which singer hails from the Great White North and which one is from Nutbush, Tennessee. --Daniel DurchholzAlbum Details

Falling Into You.......2007-02-24
The strong opener "It's all coming back to me now" is an epic masterpeice that draws the listener into a variety of emotions and is a very visual, dramatic song. Dion also glides through her tradmark ballads, "Because You Loved Me, All By Myself, and "I Love You" effortlessly. "Falling Into You" is a bit moody and dark and a change for Dion. Dion seems to be the most interesting when she stretches herself like on the very fresh sound of "Seduces Me".
Falling Into You is truly a fusion of new sounds and experimental music. This is by far Dion's most critically aclaimed work to date.

In collaborating on Miracle, Celine Dion and her partner in baby love Anne Geddes carefully sidestepped the L-word--a smart move, considering that the songs captured here, despite their electric-blanket warmth, aren't always lullaby-like in their delivery. Though the collaboration is about babies--the liner notes to this CD provide a sneak peek at Geddes' visual wizardry available in both the expanded box set and book--Miracle is not necessarily for them. Which works out great for Celine fans who have made contact with their maternal sides. More than anything, the disc plays as a valentine to new mothers: "Le Loup, La Biche et le Chevalier (Une Chanson Douce)," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," and John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" get the trademark melt-away vocal treatment, causing the need to keep a box of tissues at the ready. While tenderness flows from each track as consistently as formula from a baby bottle, though, the chanteuse doesn't shy away from the passion and note-pounding that are also her trademarks. Thus, the miracle of Miracle lies not in its ability to soothe the tiny creatures it swollen-heartedly celebrates, but in its ability to set the sentiments of listeners who love them to song. --Tammy La GorceCustomer Reviews:

Album Description
2007 French language album not scheduled for release in the US. This new album is a concept project in that all the song lyrics have been written by female writers from France and Quebec. There are many collaborators: Françoise Dorin, Christine Orban, Nina Bouraoui, Marie Laberge, Lise Payette, Denise Bombardier, Nathalie Nechtschein, Janette Bertrand... The themes throughout this album, titled 'D'elles,' centre around 'Woman.' Many of Celine's long-time friends and collaborators, including Jean-Jacques Goldman, participated in this project. Although Goldman did not write any of the songs for this album, he supervised the project and arranged the song lyrics. Music composers include Jacques Veneruso, David Gategno, Erick Benzi and Gildas Arzel. Sony/BMG.Album Details

Celine's best si D'EUX.......2007-07-08
1. ET S'IL N'EN RESTAIT QU'UNE is a very good first track out of the album. I enjoy this one a great deal. It is very modern, and yet, has a flair of POUR QUE TU M'AIMES ENCORE. It reiterates the same topic. The "I-would-do-anything-for-you"-type of song. Very well written by Françoise Dorin, an author who has illustrated herself over the past 30 years in literature, and in movies as well.
2. IMMENSITE has grown on me. I enjoy this one as well. This is an interesting song written by a young author who specializes in writing on lesbian love. This is a well-crafted song.
3. I really like the beat of A CAUSE. This is a little different for a French song by Celine. Once again, Françoise Dorin wrote it. It almost sounds like a piece taken out of a book. Very well crafted as well, with a nice dance beat.
4. JE CHERCHE l'OMBRE is another nice tune written by Lise Payette, born in Verdun, France but educated in Quebec. Interesting choice of texts since she is known to be a feminist in her own right. This song is anything but. It is well-written. It is a very sensual song, overshadowed by a lot of sincerity meant to denote intimacy in the light of love vs. the strict physicial approach.
5. MES PARADIS is a nice song. The tune itself reminds me of LES DERNIERS SERONT LES PREMIERS from D'eux. It is a nice catchy song. It feels like it's been heard before. This being said, it is a nice song on the feeling of longing for her "paradise" that she is seeking.
6. LA DIVA is a great song, which I did not know what to do with originally. I always liked Maria Callas. Her voice is so pure to me. I can see why Celine admires her. The track is nice, and could be a single, based on her show on Canadian TV. Celine mentioned that she has always felt a special connection to La Callas. Maybe a movie in the works? The idea is out. She is proving on the last minute of the song, that she may have the chops. The song is about the despair that the Callas felt throughout her life, and how music rescued her from her dark moments. Celine has had a similar path whereby music has "saved" her from the dull moments of her earlier part of life, where boredom of school set in. Written by Denise Bombardier, a Canadian author.
7. FEMME COMME CHACUNE is one of the songs I like least. The intro reminds me of another song by Celine entitled CHERCHE ENCORE, which has never really been a favorite of mine. Not quite a filler, but just easy to overlook. I don't know the author. This song sounds very French for some reason.
8. SI J'ETAIS QUELQU'UN is an OK song. I don't quite know what to do with this song. Not bad, but I am just on the fence as to liking it. It is a bit dull, and contributes to the CD getting 4 stars.
9. JE NE SUIS PAS CELLE feels like one of Christine Orban. A bit tedious to read with many details. The tune fits to the lyrics, but it is quite boring, and almost depressing. I guess that's what they went for, as it works for that purpose. This reminds me of the song TU NAGES, which is a drag in and of itself (just a personal opinion). It feels like it takes ages to finish.
10. Written by a playwright, LE TEMPS QUI COMPTE reminds me of DESTIN as well. The texture of the lyrics seem to mirror the time spent since D'EUX for some reason. Pretty good soung. More upbeat.
11. LETTRE DE GEORGE SAND A ALFRED DE MUSSET is written by George Sand, a great figure of French literature from the XIX century. It sounds like it's a page of literature that is coming to life. This song, while well crafted lyrically (taken from an actual letter from the author to her lover Alfred de Musset), which means that it almost does not feel like it should be put to a tune. It is working OK though. Not a favorite of mine.
12. ON S'EST AIME A CAUSE is one of my favorite songs on the entire album. It is beautiful, and an extension of track 3 A CAUSE (written by same author). I enjoy listening this song an awful lot. Celine's voice is at its best. It is about the reason why one would fall in love, and fast-forwarding many years, and realizing that the present time requires for love to be established DESPITE many ailments that may have crept into the relationship. It really is a nice reflection on the theory of love and relationships. To me, this song seems to go with MES PARADIS, track # 5 on this album. The progression of these three songs (3,5 and 12) seem to tell a story of their own. Well done.
13. BERCEUSE (lullaby) is an OK song. It sounds like a lullaby too, which is great. Canadian-native Janette Bertrand wrote the song. She is also a comedienne. The only hang-up I have here is that it is hard for me to differentiate this tune from the DIVA song. On that song she mentions being grateful to know the Callas, and that she is the reason why she is on stage, while this one seems to be putting the stress on her life on stage because of her son. It is a bit confusing to me. I know that this is not supposed to be a book, but because the authors are so prominent, I don't seem to be able to separate the two.
So, overall, this is a very good album. My favorite tracks are 1-3, 6 and 12. The least favorite ones are 8, 9 and 11. The others are all good. I think this is a very original concept, which will prove to be another highlight in French music. I would definitely recommend it.

Doubters who expect little from Celine Dion but turgid ballads will be surprised by her return to recording after several years. On A New Day Has Come, the big production numbers most associated with the Canadian superstar's name ("My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me") are evoked by the two versions of "I Surrender" and somewhat lifeless covers of "At Last" and "Nature Boy." At the same time, though, Dion shows her willingness to stretch on the classic-house homage "Sorry for Love" and the unavoidably catchy "Right in Front of You" and "Ten Days." The album's unexpected, often low-key production allows Dion to emote in a straightforward way that gracefully skirts the chest thumping of past days, and the relative subtlety works in her favor. Still, New Day will hardly prove a shocker for her many fans. Crowning the conservative Dion a forward-thinking diva seems a bit premature, but this agreeable record opens the door to such a possibility. --Rickey WrightCustomer Reviews:
New Day for Celine's Career -- Emotion over Commercial Appeal.......2007-06-23
The album debuted on No.1 slot of the US chart alright and in other countries it was also expected with feverish anticipation (too many of us missed her), but received rather a cold reception from the critics and, interestingly, did not get a single Grammy nomination. Despite this, Celine's "New Day" was really new -- in a positive sense!
Put simply, Dion's new situation life obviously helped her infuse the generous set of 17 songs with an incredibly believable dose of palpable emotions. Beside the title track, an ode to the relationship with the new baby, this is nowhere more evident than in the ode to motherly love, the Mutt Lange-penned "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)", where Celine, the youngest of 14 siblings apparently draws from a relationship with her own mom. Dion's singing on ballads is less melismatic (and thus less annoying -- this was a problem with "Let's Talk About Love"), ballads are sublime, many of them truly beautiful ("Have You Ever Been In Love", "Prayer"), and faster songs are more numerous than on "Let's Talk About Love", making the record varied and not too long even at almost 73 minutes (European version) of playing time. Nice, if not particularly memorable are the diva's shots at two standards -- Etta James' "At Last" and "Nature Boy", fresh off the then film-hit "Moulin Rouge".
A year after this, Celine put out another, this time a too ordinary CD for her standard, "One Heart", and her devotion to motherhood cause continued on Anne Geddes mono-thematic collab "Miracle". None of the two achieved the overall quality of "New Day", which, although employing less-known songwriters and having spawned no major hits, still remains the best Celine Dion CD of the new millennium so far.

A Masterpiece for Music.......2007-02-08
The Album as a Whole is Extremely Solid, with not just Great singles, but Great music throughout the Album.
This Album was obviously very personal to Celine. This was the start of a New Chapter in her life. The Song "A New Day Has Come" is about the birth of her baby son, whilst tracks like "Goodbye" is about the loss of her mother. This is one of the reasons why it is such a Masterpiece, because Celine felt the songs and because the songs were personal they are able to touch the people listening to them, who may be in the same circumstances.
I Am Writing this Review as I listen to the album and here is my rating of my fave tracks - 15 out of the 17 Tracks on the Album.
1."I'm Alive" - This song is just that. It makes you feel Alive. It is Upbeat and Uplifting. It has a Beautiful Melody and Rhythm. The lyrics are also beautiful, and it's no wonder this song became a single, as it is one of the best on the album. It's my 2nd Fave on the Album.

The 1997 Academy Award winner for Best Dramatic Score, James Horner's Titanic was the first soundtrack to reach the No. 1 slot on the Billboard charts in two decades; it also seemed to rival the Big Mac in sales for the year. And what can we say about Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On"; would "ubiquitous" suffice?Horner's combination of synths, chorale, and orchestra perfectly underscores the action in director James Cameron's 20th-century melodrama. It's a finely honed piece of Hollywood craftsmanship from a composer who has tackled more musically adventuresome projects in his career. FYI: Horner's follow-up to Titanic was the score for a different disaster: Deep Impact. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Not memorable? I digress!.......2007-06-03
James Horner's music for Titanic is just wonderful. I cannot even begin to describe what it means to me, personally. Every song is beautiful. Each portrays the emotions of the film with perfection. If you believe that the songs switch emotions too quickly, as if from happiness to despair, I see where you're coming from. However, that is the emotion needed to be expressed! Titanic was a disaster. So many of the passengers were filled with hope and happiness, and then it all came crashing down upon them. It all happened so quickly. For those who say the music is not very memorable, I disagree completely. I put the soundtrack on in the car, and my brother (who is currently 12 years old) remembered it immediately. He has not seen the movie since 1998, when he was three years old. That, to me, proves that this soundtrack is not only beautiful, but is easily recalled because of the fact.
Now, you are open to your own opinions. But this is mine. This soundtrack means so much to me, as does the film from which it comes. It is beautiful, and so emotional. I could listen to it all day, and sometimes I can't listen to it without crying. It's very powerful. I, of course, recommend it, but not if you haven't seen Titanic. If you didn't like Titanic, I don't even know why you would consider it, if only to post bad reviews. Again, this is just an incredibly beautiful soundtrack.
Sincerely,
A 15-year-old fan.
As Good as the Movie itself! .......2007-05-26

Relive the Movie by Memory.......2007-05-13
a very good cd, except for the fact they excluded some songs.......2007-05-09
Never an Absolution-(3.5/5)its not the best song, but I still think its pretty. i'm pretty sure the part after the bagpipes is the begining of the movie.
Distant Memories-(4/5)its when Rose first sees the picture and calls lovett and then comes. i think the begining is played again when she looks at her picture and when she looks at various parts of the ship remembering what they looked like.
Southhampton-(4/5)the energetic music that appears when the ship comes "back to life". its an ok song, but I like it better then Leaving port and Take her to Sea, Mr Murdoch.
Rose-(5/5)this is one of my favorites. its the melody that is my heart will go on. I actually like this version better then my heart will go on. Its more romantic and haunting.
Leaving Port-(2/5)this is probably my least favorite song mostly because it has the unfortunate fate of being right after one of the best songs. I like the begining but after that its like a little Southhampton and Take her to Sea, Mr. Murdoch.
Take her to Sea, Mr Murdoch-(3.5/5)i like this song in the begining and then the end. the middle is long winded and I usually find my self not listening to that part. This is when they spead up the ship and they show how it spead up.
Hard to Starboard-(5/5)another version of my heart will go on sense this is when Rose and Jack are doing it. then it turns into an intense slightly scary song that takes place right before they hit the iceberg till they hit the iceburg and come to a full stop.
Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave-(5/5)this is probably my favorite song just because its gorgeous and this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I wish the song was longer, but oh well. The end of the song is when Cal chases them down the stairs with a gun.
The Sinking-(4.5/5)its a very intense song and I love it for the most part. Though sometimes I skip over it or skip parts. It's a little long, but I think they used most of this in the movie.
Death of Titanic-(4/5)my biggest complaint is that its long and I do skip over parts. The last part saves it with the scary sound affects that are supposed to be peoples screams I think. This song has a little bit of everything, though I can only place some of it in the movie.
A Promise Kept-(4/5)its spooky but calm. this is starts right before Jack dies and ends when Rose saves herself.
A life so Changed-(5/5)maybe I just like the vocals or something but this is one of my favorites. Its played when Rose and the other 700 people are saved by Carpathia.
An Ocean of Memories-(4/5)like with Death of titanic its long enough that I skip to parts I like. I think it contains the end part where she goes to heaven.
My Heart will go on-(4.5/5)i like this song, but there are moments that I think she over does it a bit.
Hymn to the Sea-(5/5)this is another one of my favorites. i think this was the song that was never used. to bad really its one of the best songs on this cd.
Overrated because of one hit single.......2007-03-13
For a soundtrack score it is not riveting and really lacks any emotional connection to the film. Overall it is just really overrated and the hit single got played so much that the masses just fell into a typical zombie trance and went marching to the store to buy it. This was after they kept returning to the theater to see a fictional tale of love built around a tragic, awful event.
It didn't stop them though; they could not get enough of seeing all those depictions of people freezing to death in the water. Overall a below average soundtrack that road the coat tails of a hit single that was shoved down our throats for an entire year.

Best in a long time.......2007-06-22
Wow!.......2007-06-15
Dion does not disappoint...........2007-06-10
D'elles portrays a collection of songs written by different women from the french and franco-canadian scene. I'll go through them one by one:
Et s'il n'en restait qu'une: 4/5
**** First single off the album, a very powerful and sentimental ballad, you can almost hear the old celine in this one.
Immensite: 4/5
**** A very nice song, second single. Great music by Veneruso, who wrote many songs in celine's last french album. The string arrangements are very nice.
A cause: 3/5
**** A fast-paced , catchy song, kind of melodramatical. Still, i think there's something missing. The arrangements are not perfect, and celine sounds nasal.
Je cherche l'ombre: 5/5
**** One of the best songs in the album, if not the best. Beautiful music, mixing the piano with kenas, violins and accordeon.. quite a la francaise. Celine's voice sounds soft and pure, and then powerful and still pure.
Les paradis: 2.5/5
***** Filler material.. sounds like "Contre Nature" but with less quality in the writing. I skip this one.
La Diva: 4/5
***** Weird song.. Celine sings along Maria Callas, kinda reminds me of "Papillon", but a little more nasal. There's a problem with some high notes, Celine seems to be stretching to get up there. Good song though, you get a few seconds Celine singing lirical.
Femme comme chacune: 2/5
***** Bad song, celine's voice sounds awful, and the song itself is bad contemporary, trashy pop. Skip it
Si j'etais quelqu'un: 3.5/5
***** Nice song.. it varies from soft to bombastic/rocky.. you'll see. Not bad, but forgettable.
Je ne suis pas celle 3.5/5
***** The beginning sounds like "Tu Nages", but not as good as that one. It looks like a Lara Fabian song... too soap-opera dramatic.
Le temps qui compte: 4/5
***** Very nice and catchy song. Also sounds like "Contre Nature", it could be a good choice for a single.
Lettre de George Sand a Alfred de Musset: 2.5/5
***** hmmm Celine whispers too much in this one. Doesn't sound too nice. It's a slow and boring song.
On s'est aime a cause: 5/5
***** Great song, it's a variation from song #3 but a lot better, more ballad-like. It got stuck in my head for some days. I would really like to see this as a single, although I don't think that will happen.
Berceuse: 4.5/5
***** Berceuse, which means "lullaby", is a very beautiful soft song, alla "Memoire d'Abraham", just the piano, the strings and Celine. The lyrics seem to be dedicated to her son, Rene-Charles Angelil.

Celine Dion's second English-language album made her a star all over the world, not just in France and her native Quebec. The tag-team production work is sometimes heavy-handed, swathing Dion in background choruses and gauzy keyboard washes, but her voice soars above it all, showing off her incomparable range and power. The public certainly responded to Dion's talent, landing her four singles from the album--"If You Asked Me To," "Nothing Broken But My Heart," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "Beauty and the Beast" (a duet with Peabo Bryson and the theme to the hit animated movie)--in the Top 40. --Daniel DurchholzCustomer Reviews:

Dion has released a lot of music in the last four years, which in lesser talents could generate a "got the last one, don't need this" yawn from the public. Every conceivable base is covered here--"Tell Me" is the iconic pop adult smash, "Treat Her Like a Lady" has sewn up Contemporary Hits Radio, and there are a half-dozen others to keep the party going till 1999. The inclusion of the theme song to Titanic ("My Heart Will Go On") proves that nothing is likely to scuttle the unsinkable Ms. Dion. --Jeff BatemanAlbum Details

It Draws You In.......2006-06-02
And let's not forget the duets with Barbara Streisand and Luciano Pavarotti. "Tell Him" left me speechless when I first heard it. The voices of Streisand and Dion in this timeless love song pull you into the theme, as almost everyone has wanted to tell someone that they love them, but is hesitant for whatever reason. With a famous voice like Pavarotti, Dion definitely added even more greatness to this wonderful, love filled album with their duet "I Hate You Then I Love You."
#3 on the album, "Treat her like a Lady" adds upbeat and kick to give the album a variety of rhythm and sound. The entire CD of LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE reminds people of how important love is and how wonderful love can be. It also shows off the unbeatable talent of Celine Dion who actually knows how to sing without shouting, which has become the fad of the day.
Awesome.......2006-05-30
not as good as Falling, but still great.......2006-04-05
Celine shocked almost everyone by releasing a follow-up so shortly (Falling Into You was still in the top 40 on the charts at the time) but it was very worthy.
Among my faves on the album include "The Reason", "Immortality" with The Bee Gees (for a "Celine-less" version of the song, check out The Bee Gees' 2-disc hits collection from 2001), "Love Is On The Way", the very funky "Treat Her Like A Lady", "To Love You More" and the beautiful singalong title track. This album also housed "My Heart Will Go On" which certainly helped push this album to sales over 9 million. While it was a song that you wanted to smash the stereo at the time because it was being played every five minutes, I'd say enough time has passed that once again you can enjoy and appreciate this beautiful, powerful ballad.
With "Falling Into You" and this album, Celine was the #1 female artist for a period, becoming a superstar right as Mariah was abandoning AC for r&b, as Alanis was going on hiatus for awhile, and when Shania was taking off but hadn't yet exploded into major-superstardom. Love her or malign her (it seems fashionable to do the latter), she became one of the premier voices in Adult Contemporary and won over a large audience. I haven't been a fan at all of her last few albums, but if she ever comes back with an album like these two, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.
Her last really good album!.......2006-01-23
