Loved it!.......2007-05-07
This cd has various different music on - little bit of everything! It's worth the buy
Bellydance Superstars Moves You.......2007-04-04
Enjoyed this group of belly dance numbers very much. I personally prefer more instrumentals, but, hey, nothing is perfect. The music is energetic and does get you moving. I give it a solid four stars
Bellydance Superstars .......2007-01-15
If you are a dancer you need the Superstars CDs. Good mixed discs, you get a taste of a lot of different artists without looking for 12 discs and you don't need to read Arabic. Pretty fast tracks, warm up with something slower, I like Arabic Lounge set.
Good usable material.......2007-01-12
Excellent contemporary bellydance music, most very usable. The only problem is its popularity.
Egyptian-style and American-Cabaret dancers would probably get the most out of it.
Do you want to dance your feet off??? .......2006-10-18
This is the CD to do just that! Dance, dance and more dance. Exhilirating music from the best of Middle Eastern popular belly dancing music. Very light, very enjoyable, perfect for any party mix. Authentic, yet diversified. Ideal for parties, long drives, getting your housework done in a good mood, and just for the simple pleasure of the lively Arabic beat. Love this CD.

Smooth music.......2007-05-06
I bought this at the recommendation of my bellydance instructor. I was not disappointed. It's a great mix of slow, fast, instrumental and vocal accompanied arabic music. Not very traditional, but suited my practice purposes perfectly.
It's okay, but doesn't sound like bellydance to me.......2007-02-18
I was hoping this would be techno or ambient versions of bellydance beats and a few songs are, but most are just Arabic pop sounding.
Galactic Goosebumps..........2007-01-30
...is what some of these songs caused in me. hahaha I had to start with something corny. But no seriously it's a great cd and I'm glad I bought it. It's something that I can see myself playing for myself alone as a rock out to dance as a form of prayer and ultimate expression.
As A Dancer.......2007-01-04
This Cd rocks, some of the neatest and drivin rhythms out there super to dance to and also to just enjoy, Right on really greatAAAA++++
Great belly dance music.......2006-11-04
This cd is awesome!! I highly recommend it to anyone. Not only do I belly dance to this cd, I also just listen to it when I'm not dancing.

Beautiful and inspiring music .......2007-07-12
Once again the Bellydance Superstars produced a wonderful and inspiring collection of songs: great for listening, teaching and performing!!!
Varied in mood and melody, worthy of the "Superstar rating".
Bellydance Superstars vol III rating.......2007-05-29
I've been taking bellydance lessons for 3 ½ years on & off. This cd has several songs that I recognize and like....a couple you can dance to at a party like..El Kalam Ala Meen & Lawn Oyounak
Good, But Not As Good As One and Two .......2006-04-14
This one hasn't hooked me as well as the first two volumes have. I might have liked it better if I didn't own the first two. Volume One will always be my favorite and I think it spoiled me. It may simply be a matter of personal taste and preference. I don't care for most of these songs but that doesn't mean that it's not a good CD. I do like three of the songs and I am finding that it is slowly growing on me the more I listen to it. For bellydancing, the songs all have the right beats and tempo and may appeal to other dancers with different musical tastes. There's a good variety ranging from classic bellydance to modern music and the artists are the best of the best. I do wish that more of the songs used in the performance DVDs had been included. I prefer Volumes One and Two, but if this was the only one you could get it wouldn't be a waste of money. It's still worth buying for your personal collection or studio library.

Great for Dancing!!!.......2006-02-23
These are all very good songs for dancing. It is very easy to make a choreography from these songs, especially for a folkloric group. There is a lot of fun folkloric music here. There is a modern fusion piece with drums by Isaam (#2). The drums are very beautiful and Isaam is a great drummer. The first song on this CD is one of my favorite songs. It has such a beautiful arrangement. The music is a rich mixture of baladi, saidi, classical and drums. I love number ten also: it is a lovely accordion baladi. This CD also has very nice, interesting music that could be used for tribal-style. Overall, it is a great CD, and I like all of the songs here.
Vol. 3.......2006-01-10
I like this one, but maybe not as much as volume one and two. I think there are a lot of good songs that really get you in the mood to just jump up and dance. I remember all this music from the local Belly dance festival though, so when you buy it, if you are using it for a performance, remember that it's a very common album and a lot of others maybe using the same music.

Tribal metamorphosis/Pentaphobe.......2007-03-19
Fantastic.I came across this being a Rachel Brice fan.I am now a total Pentaphobe fan as well. It's totally different to any thing one gets accustomed to hearing relating to bellydance. Its addictive and it's fresh and hypnotic.Fantastic buy.
Wow.......2007-02-18
This is really great for Tribal. I've only seen the performance pieces for two of the songs, but the rest are also much fun to play with. I listened to it over and over when I first got it and go back to it when I want a really great mood setter for a performance. I want more!
Pentaphobe.......2007-01-17
This CD was just what I was looking for!
It has a mysterious tone and steered away from the more traditional glittzy Belly Dance music.
not so good..........2006-11-17
I was very disappointed with this c.d. The only good songs on it are the ones that Rachael dances to on the Bellydance Superstars DVD. It's alot of industrial noise with no melody. If you're looking for music to do interperative dance to, check it out. If you're looking for something upbeat and inspiring, you might want to pass.
An Amazing Music CD.......2006-11-10
I really like this music CD. All the music is so amazing.

Superstars 2 as Good as 1.......2007-04-04
I enjoyed this disc as much a volume 1...I know some disagree, but I liked it very much. A little different from Volume 1, but very nice in its own way.
Pretty good.......2006-05-03
I am belly dancer and have been for almost two years. I recently bought this cd and it is really good. I feel like there is a lot of variety, though I still have to say, I like number one a little better. It's still good. I have to point out, at the Utah Belly Dance Festival, I heard a number of these songs a gazillion songs. Remember, if you are doing a performance, and want something really unique, these songs are commonly used. Some more so than others, I admit, but still.
Very Different But Just As Great As Volume 1.......2006-02-11
I listened to this CD just a few times before it grew on me, and it did so quickly. My first impression was that it is completely different than the compilation of Volume 1, so if you own the first CD, keep an open mind and let go of your expectations. Where Volume 1 contains mostly bellydance and middle eastern classics, Volume 2 is made up of more modern, pop and techno tracks, such as "Entrance Of The Stars," a song that was composed specifically for the Superstars and Desert Roses. This one has several shorter tracks suitable for solo performances and I like that! I found the perfect song for my sword dance in this compilation! I think that it's important for a dancer to be willing to try a variety of music and dance styles, and this is a great addition to your library.
To learn more about the history of bellydance and the Bellydance Superstars' role in educating the public about this art form, check out the "American Bellydancer" DVD.
Another good compilation!.......2004-10-09
I enjoyed this one very much as well. Not as much as the first one but hey.....greatness of music is in the ears of the listener. Again the variety of music is great and there is plenty in both Superstars albums to bring out the choreographer in us Raks Sharquiteurs.
This is the most awesome bellydance compilation!!!.......2004-05-21
Wow, what a great selection of songs! Each song is a pleasure to listen and to dance to. I have a wonderful time dancing to this CD for my dance shows and my students love it as well.
This is the best bellydance compilation I've heard in years, and it's also better than the first Bellydance Superstars. Highly recommended to avid listeners of amazing Middle-Eastern beats and dancers who can't get enough of shake shake shake!

Excellent Original Performance Music!.......2006-06-15
This is original middle eastern music that will get your performance noticed! I am the amateur Bellydancer USA 2006 winner and I danced to Turbo Tabla II when I won. It goes great with Raks Sharki as well as sword, zils, or even veil work. This cd is a must have for any serious bellydancer's music collection. It will make your performance memorable. Shimmy-on.
Superb! Totally danceable! Infectious beat!.......2006-06-15
Karim Nagi does it all in Turbo Tabla! Every song is a keeper! This is a CD any bellydancer must have in their library. He is a master of the beat! His music raks!
There are better CDs out there.......2006-06-03
The quality of the sound is not as good as most CDs. At times the vocals are not crisp and sound muffled. It is also somewhat boring, since it has a very repetitive feel to it. For bellydancing, this CD does not inspire me and it usually does not take much to get me going.
"Turbo Tabla 3" is ok, but this track is also on "Bellydance Superstars, Vol. II", which is a lot better investment.
Awesome beats.......2005-10-23
There is a real driving throb to the beats on this CD that really gets you moving!
thee seduction it was complete.......2005-08-29
the album is spiritual acoustic karma sutra. i loved the bass beats fusion with the instruments of old. this album has me wanting more. in the menatime i now want to go a eatery with this music and see real bellydancing.

Customer Reviews:
At long last..........2007-02-19
I have been searching for this album for a while, and finally found it here at amazon. I really enjoy it, I use it for bellydance.
great belly dancing music.......2006-11-07
I love the variety of rhythyms on this cd. We use it for several of our choreographies. I have ordered this item several times because I use it so much.
Even More Arabian Dance Rhythms.......2006-09-02
A continuation of the "Desert Roses and Arabian Rhythms", this CD gives us a third dose of Arabic and Middle Eastern dance music infused with western influences. The result is quite enjoyable, and serves as a good introduction to Arabic music. All the usual suspects are here - Hakim, Amina Annabi, Cheb Mami, Nawal al Zoughbi, Andy, Faudel, Zohar, Cheb Nasro, Shani. New faces appear two, like talented Palestinean artist Simon Shaheen, pop singer Woroud, and the techno beats of Turbo Tabla. If you liked the first two CDs in this series, then this one is another good purchase.
So whats the music like? Well, it starts off with Hakim and Cleopatra doing a (quite appropriate) cover of "Walk Like an Egyptian", with Arabic beats. It continues with lots of great Middle Eastern tunes all the way to the end, when we hear a more traditional meditative "Saraab" by Simon Shaheen, one of the greatest names in contemporary Arabic music. Along the way there is a remix of Lebanese pop idol Nawal al Zoughbi, techno-bellydance rhythms from Turbo Tabla, Rai songs from Cheb Nasro and Cheb Mami, an haunting duet between Amina and Zohar, another English pop song from Shani (for those who can't speak Arabic), upbeat Arabic pop from newcomer Woroud, and much more. Everyone on the CD gives a very memorable performance, so if your a fan of Arabic pop this CD will really get you.
It's definately worth the purchase. In fact, if you haven't I'd recommend you go out and get the first two CDs as well. These CDs are great for any bellydancer, Arabic music lover, or just someone who wants to expand their understanding of the world. Sure, plenty of great Arabic musicians are left off this CD (and, in fact, the series focuses mostly on pop and rai, leaving out classical and folk music) but its a good starting place if nothing else. Definately a good purchase.
"Feel Good" Mix.......2006-04-14
I stumbled across this browsing at the store and it was definitely a lucky find. The songs are modern, upbeat and fun and there's a nice mix of different styles. Hakim's orchestra's rendition of "Walk Like An Egyptian" converts it into a better beat for bellydancing. Ramses' "Ajaja" has been used by Petite Jamilla for her double veil performance. Amina's "Un Ange En Paix" is stylish and sexy. "Who's The Fairest?" is a fun club tune with a bellydance beat. The other songs range from sensual to more classic middle eastern style, including Turbo Tabla's techno drumming. The compilation is great for both dancing and listening. I like it for driving to work in the morning or cleaning the house as well as for freestyle bellydancing. Whether you are a bellydancer or just a fan of middle eastern/arabic music, you'll enjoy this CD. Highly recommended.
Exciting and Esensual, The Third Time Around.......2006-01-31
First of all, I am not a belly dancer, but you don't have to be a belly dancer to reap the benefits of the energy fun, and sensuality, packed into the thirteen tracks on this CD. Several times I have worked out to it on my elliptical, and can assure you that it provides a good hour or so's worth of inspiration to keep you going. While it has a kind mix of pretty quickly paced songs being followed by somewhat slower songs, the music, voices, and influences vary so much, that things never start to drag or become routine.
You have to love Hakim and Irish singer, Carly Hennessy's fun version of, "Walk Like An Egyptian." The old Bangles sort of wiseguy song is both enriched by the addition of traditional instruments and beats, and is also put in its place and expertly tweaked by the singing of Hakim, which is strong and compelling, and is, of course, the real thing. At the end of the song, when he says, "I am Egyptian, come with me," well, you might be inclined, like Marlene Dietrich chasing after Gary Cooper in "Morocco," to throw off your high heels, and follow him into the desert...but instead, you go with the flow of the songs, moving through many moods and musical styles, thus managing to be both a bit familiar, and a lot exotic, and always intriguing.
My favorites, along with, "Walk Like An Egyptian," are, "Un Ange En Paix," by Amina and Zohar, And the last song on the CD, "Saraab," by Simon Shaheen. The Amina/Zohar track has a sensuous, restrained pace...maybe a littel reminiscent of Cesaria Evora.perhaps I have an overactive imagination, and she is just singing about her shopping list, but it sets a shadowy, smokey image for me, full of mystery (well, that is for sure!), and a bit of ennui. The accordion, muffled horns, and techno beats seem pretty simple, but they create a mood, that I don't get tired of experiencing, over and over again. I am looking forward to sampling some CDs by these two artists, with the intention of buying.
Simon Sheehan's song, "Saraab," is very traditional and languid, and calls to mind a wonderful scene from the old Gene Tierney film, "Sundown," where she is walking slowly across the desert, midriff exposed. If it isn't the exact music used in that scene, it is very close to it. The flute, in particular, is beautiful, but the whole track is so wonderfully uncluttered, so minimal, really, and yet it just draws the listener (at least this one!) into the landscape it creates. What a smart way to end this CD! I will definitely be buying a CD by Shaheen, since that one song is not enough for me, and it will be the perfect music for times when an hour or so of absolutely delicious, exotic music, suggesting burning sands, foreign places, and giving yourself over to a totally different pace, is an essential (essensual?) ingredient.
The faster songs, with their many influences (hip hop, reggae, flamenco, to name but a few), all add their fun and energy to the overall winning effect of this third in the Desert Roses series. I enjoy all the Desert Roses CDs,and how they cleverly include one pop hit, with a mainstream artist, on each one; thereby giving you a place to start from, and to be drawn in from, regardless of how unfamiliar you are with Middle Eastern music. The DR CDs are all terrific for my CD changer, when it is set on the shuffle mode, since they make it sound like I have so much more stuff in there, than I really do. They are also a lot of fun to listen to in the car...though they may set the rednecks (urban ones included) to growling!!
Note: If you enjoy this CD, you might like to check out "Cairo to Casablanca," another compilation, with a bit less punch than "Desert Roses 3," but beautiful music and voices, nevertheless. "Moroccan Spirit," is another definite treat, for any fan of Middle Eastern music and ambience.

Hauntingly beautiful........2005-12-19
'aquitania' is the second collection of 12th century musical pieces from Aquitanian Monasteries performed by sequentia, or the 'Ensemble for Medieval Music' comprised of a chorus of male voices, a chorus of female voices, and an instrumental ensemble.
Not being a professional musical antiquarian, the very best I can say about this recording is that it is better than the first collection, 'shining light'.
Oddly, my biggest problem with both collections is that nothing on both recordings does anything whatsoever to evoke Christmas for me. I say that because there are some buyers who may be on the lookout for some unusual Christmas music and they just may be disappointed by what the do NOT hear on these recordings. That caveat aside, this collection is very, very good in its variety of male, female, and instrumental voices.
What some tracks do evoke is an oddly Celtic sound, especially in some of the instrumental tracks. All the vocals are in Latin, meaning they were all written to be performed for and by the monks and nuns of the monasteries in the Christmas season.
There is simply nothing here sounding remotely like 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', even in Latin.
If you want a portal into the world of very old music, I can think of nothing better. It is certainly more diverse and more interesting than the otherwise excellent 'Anonymous 4' recordings of old Christmas music.
Highly recommended.

Aquitania was a rich part of the medieval world. It was the land of the troubadours and of the admirable liturgical chants. It was the world of the first medieval troubadour, Guilhelm IX, Duke of Aquitania and grandfather of Eleanor, the powerful queen. This CD evokes this legendary place, its myths and its art of the 12th century. All the CDs of Sequentia are marvellous. Words are not enough of describing the sensitive work of this ensemble. I have heard Dante and the Troubadours, Aquitania, with Christmas Music from Aquitanian monasteries and Shining Light. These three CDs give us a powerful view of the aquitanian spirit. I feel the vibrant culture of that part of a medieval world, when I am listening the troubadours songs and the music from aquitanian monasteries performed by Sequentia.

imago.......2003-08-29
Brilliant!,what a superb album ,this woman is just fantastic.her voice is as sensational as her music,Night on ontake mountain,Wow what a beautiful track,A beautiful album from a one very talented musician .I can highly recommend this to any lover of instrumental music,or anyone who enjoys a brilliant female vocalist too.
Hauntingly Beautiful.......2002-11-04
I bought this cd used hoping to get one or two tracks from it for a compilation I was trying to put together of mellow female musician/singers. What I didn't expect was to be so blown away by this virtually unknown sorceress of song. An amazingly pure, ethereal voice, combined with positively magical violin rifts, (an instrument I'm usually quite bored with), conspires to take you away to places you only find in dreams. I ended up using only two artists' music for this compilation, with about 8 incredible tracks from "IMAGO" and 8 tracks from another highly recommended artist, CAROLINE LAVELLE. I have gifted this compilation to a number of my friends, and they have all loved it! I'm very excited about hearing everything else she has done. I can't recommend this cd enough. You won't be disappointed.
Fabulous Performance.......2001-06-05
This CD is absolutely fabulous! The closest comparison I could make would be to Dido. However, Lorenza has greater depth in her voice. The musical backup is better with greater depth too. Some of the pieces are mostly instrumental.
A unique, engaging musical experience.......1998-09-20
Haunting violin, with gypsy, Middle Eastern, classical as well as modern influences. Lorenza Ponce has a beautiful voice, and the music just carries you away into faraway lands and dreams. I'm eagerly awaiting her next work!
Beautifiul, rare combination of violin and vocals.......1998-08-07
Lorenza plays a spine-tingling violin while singing with strength and beauty. Combine these performing talents with 11 terrific original compositions and you can't miss. The pace of the music reminds me of Keiko Matsui, mostly faster and upbeat, but with the occasional slower piece, more mysterious and thought provoking. The opening number, Summer, will give you a good idea of the whole CD. I bought Imago after only a minute or two at a listening station.
