Madonna's
Ray of Light spliced with Deepak Chopra's celebrity-studded
Gift of Love disc is perhaps the commercial counterpart to Isabelle Pascale Granet's intriguingly erotic
Sanctity. High-minded, deep-bodied, and soul-searching, spoken word flows forth in both English and French, combining with sensuously syncopated dance beats, lyrical chant, and Granet partner Ben Arrindell's ambient-jazz grooves. Granet's words are sultry and whispery, seducing the listener; proud and fiery, celebrating the sacredness of sex and spirit; and on "I Must Speak (Of What I'd Rather Not)," her delivery is steeped in a river of sobs, as healing comes by giving voice to her wounded womanhood.
Sanctity is darkly delicious, desirous, and dangerous to the powers who'd keep our passion under wraps. Be unafraid, Granet seems to say, explore the sanctity of your own vitality.
--Paige La Grone
Product Description
Sanctity is a deeply sensuous and highly emotionally charged album. Ambient grooves and urban beats interweave with ancient chants and spoken poetry. Slightly reminiscent of Enigma's first album, Sanctity falls in the category of "Worldbeat/Ambient".

Album Description
Sanctity's debut album Road to Bloodshed is a blistering blend of technical thrash and old-school metal powered by attitude and grit. Filled with steely, staccato guitars, trampling beats and roaring vocals, the songs marry complex arrangements and musicianship with granite-heavy grooves and unforgettable hooks.

A little disapointed.......2007-05-10
This wasen't quit what I thought it would be, but it is an ok listen.
Trendy, but not.......2007-04-30
I saw Sanctity on Gigantour last year, remembered I liked them, but forgot why in the time while I waited for their first CD to actually come out.
It's basically a cross between a good Swedecore band (Unearth, Trivium, etc.), maybe a little bit of Avenged Sevenfold, and a lot of Testament. And maybe something else I haven't identified, yet. In any case, it's very cool.
Thrash metal, North Carolina-style .......2007-04-26
After viewing their first music video Zeppo a year ago, there was no question that there'd be a lot of buzz about Sanctity. A year and several shows later touring with Trivium, Black Label Society, Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Arch Enemy, Into Eternity, Opeth and many others, their debut album is finally out. First off, I gotta say that this cd breathes old school thrash in the same vein as Anthrax, Megadeth, and Testament. Not that there is anything wrong with Trivium's last album The Crusade (I liked it), but this may be for some of those that felt disappointed. There's a lot to like about this record. Nothing real fancy. Just skull-crushing metal.

Really Good CD!!.......2004-09-16
I'm not usually into this kind of music (a little experimental), but I LOVE this CD. I often feel so immersed in pop music (my kids insist on listening to the radio in the car). Pop music can be so mindless, so numbing. This disc by Sanctity is a great respite from such material. It's very deep, and often very slow.... in a good way!! Very sensuous, and just plain relaxing. Lately I've been also reading up on some 'new consciousness' books, and this music fits right in there. It's a new kind of "feel good' music!! Get a copy for yourself.
Great Album - way ahead of its time!!!.......2004-09-13
I just got this album the other day, on the recommendation of a review I read in a magazine (a publication whose opinion I generally trust). But you can never be sure until you hear the disc (that's what Amazon marketplace is for!). Anyway, I was not disappointed. This is a SUPERB album. This is an album created by artists who are tapped into a level of awareness that is simply not prevalent in the mainstream music business, and certainly not the general public. I won't go into the typical describe-the-tracks-musically sort of review. Let it be said that the music is EXCELLENT, practically without flaw in my opinion. BUT, I recommend taking this album as an education, as medicine. This is an aural experience which will elevate your being. It's art that requires the listener to slow down, put the hustle bustle of the outside world into soft focus and really EXPERIENCE.
A spellbinding album.......2004-05-25
Last week, I received an email from Liquid Light Records asking if I would be interested in receiving a free copy of Sanctity's "In the Name of the Mother the Daughter and the Holy Will". I got this email because I was put on producer/composer Paul Hsu's F&F list here on amazon. Being that it was free and that I liked the description of female vocals over electronic beats ala Enigma and Delerium (not in those exact words), I couldn't resist and responded to the email. That was last week. Today I just received my free copy of the new Sanctity album and I am currently listening to the music. I must admit that I was expecting some cheap packaging from a small, independent label like Liquid Light. Thank heavens they proved me wrong and put the cd in a nice, very professional-looking digipack cd package. Obviously a lot of care went into the cd packaging which shows that the artist really cares about the music and presenting to the consumer the best product he or she has to offer. The music itself is an enchanting blend of new age, ambient, and pop music. The female vocals are provided by Isabelle Pascale Granet. The production is excellent. Very big sounding and raw. Listening to Sanctity reminds me of Enigma's first two albums and a little bit of Delerium's 'Karma". Very sensuous and soothing to listen to. The music took my breathe away to say the very least. "In the Name of the Mother..." is a sumptuous delight for the ears. All the songs moved me but I was especially moved by "The Ghost of You", a gorgeous piano ballad. No words can express my delight of having to receive this hidden gem of a cd. I must say thanks to Paul Hsu and Liquid Light Records. You have made a lifelong fan out of me. If anyone has the opportunity to receive this cd, I strongly suggest in taking up the offer. You won't regret it. I know I don't.
Absolutely Incredible!!!.......2004-05-12
I just received an advance copy of this CD from a friend who is a music reviewer. She's always kind enough to pass on to me the stuff that she thinks I'll appreciate. Wow, was she right this time!!!! Quite frankly, I find this disc a bit hard to describe. The label is calling it "ambient word", which I found a little hard to juxtapose with my listening experience at first, but now I think I get what they mean. It's mostly ambient, chillout, lounge type tracks with this incredible ethereal voice speaking. There's some singing - various voices, some are Eastern-sounding, a couple Gregorian Chants, and some modern female voice. The best word to describe it is really - Musical!! That may sound trite, but it's really true. The CD just put me in a state! I found myself daydreaming, forgetting the little stresses of the moment.....okay, so I'm starting to sound like an infomercial. The tracks have quite a bit of variety between them while still mantaining continuity. Some are instrumental, beat-less interludes. Most are similar to Vanessa Daou, Moby, or Massive Attack. The track "Resurrect Me" reminds me very much of Enigma. For those of you who are Enigma fans, this group may pick up the torch where I personally feel Cretu left off. Other tracks of note are "Lines" and "The Revolution is Being Meditated". These have a certain avante-garde vibe to them, but they still manage to be very melodic and listenable. I found them to be trance-enducing. Again, I find the disc hard to pin down.....and totally irresistable. This is a rare treat - but hopefully a harbinger of what's to come......real quality music with deep meaning and a soul in the midst of big record label b.s.

More recognition of Frank's genius.......2000-06-16
I was surprised when I came across this album. As a Zappa fan I am usually on top of the new releases but this one slipped by me. Now I am one happy camper. This is another jewel for your Zappa collection. The performance by Meridian Arts Ensemble, Benjamin Herrington, and others provide another variation and interpretation that add insight to Frank's genius. The works by Su Lian Tan-both as composer and performer, Jon Christopher Nelson, Josef Burgstaller, and the other composers offer some interesting contrasts and complements Zappa's pieces. Is this the best example of other people playing Zappa? Frankly, no but it is still worth the price. For Zappa fans this is a must. For those unfamiliar with Zappa-if that possible-I would suggest you listen to Zappa's own albums first.
Modern music can be fun!.......2000-06-14
The Meridian Arts Ensemble have gathered together here an enjoyable mixture of modern compositions & arrangements. First of all, the ensemble is to be commended for making such a bold move - or should I say several bold moves. So many new or otherwise "risky" composers and so much contemporary music on one album? A brass quintet? With a rhythm section and a guest composer who raps? And these guys sing, too? The Meridian Arts Ensemble has bucked the system & brought forward something that most record companies wouldn't touch - and in their boldness they have made a valuable contribution to comtemporary music. Second, the Meridian Arts have presented a fair - however strange - sampling of the music of Frank Zappa. Lumpy Gravy & King Kong are straight-forward instrumentals presented with creativity, but also true to the originals. King Kong, always the vehicle for interpretation & improvisation, is here presented as a kind of slow blues - and the drummer does a nice job of feeling those hemiola accents. Pygmy Twylyte may very well be a strange, even offensive, song, but the Meridian Arts have only presented it they way Zappa wrote it & performed it! There is no doubt that the funky rhythm 'n' blues style is well suited for the group, and this song really shows off their lighter side. Hungry Freaks, Daddy is presented pretty much in the same form as performances by Zappa's group in the early seventies - right down to the trumpet fills & electronic effects! I think this is the Meridian Arts Ensemble telling us that they do know how to have fun! Ironically, performances like this are going to help Zappa come to be taken more seriously in the future. Several living composers are featured - including the members themselves. Moo Shu Wrap Rap is quite an intriguing experiment - with a dinner gong, pentatonic scales, and the lady composer vocalising her Chinese lyrics. The least attractive aspect of this album is probably the vocal recordings - especially on the Rap. The composer's rapping is often difficult to hear. I think the variety of music on this album & the sincerity of the performances make this a fine choice for any brass or wind enthusiast. Also, fans of jazz & contemporary music, especially Frank Zappa fans, will want it. The Canadian Brass will want it, so they can see what their younger counterparts are up to! There are wonderful moments of standard brass ensemble work, very skillfully executed, but the Meridian Arts Ensemble wanted to go out on a limb, so they took a chance and have thus filled a niche that is often ignored. Let's hear no more complaints that new music doesn't get performed & recorded!

Customer Reviews:
A Disk with Bite.......2001-05-04
I have to hand it to Hammer films, or, as I call them, the studio of the 3 "B"s: Blood, Boobs, and Bouffants! The Hammer horrors always featured lots of blood, and women with awesome cleavages and hairdos. musical scores. This disk features excerpts from four of their vampire films, two of which were composed by the prolific James Bernard. My personal favorite, "Kiss of The Vampire", features a dark, Lisztian piano, which was later reorchestrated by Bernard into a concert piece, "Vampire Rhapsody". It is an hypnotic, seductive piece, which added tremendously to the feeling of pervasive evil in the film. The 3 other scores represented on the disk are "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires", which has some vague "oriental" strains running through it, as well as some revamped passages from Bernard's famous "Horror of Dracula" score, "Lust for a Vampire", and "Vampire Circus". "Circus" is an unusual score, and features a "Tiger Dance", which sounds as if it was performed by Perez Prado, complete with shouts of "Uh!", and bongo drums! If you are a Hammer Films fan, then this is a fairly entertaining disk that you can "sink your teeth into!"

Isabelle Granet's Sanctity is pure pleasure. This is the Cd I was waiting for.
When I listen to it my body becomes slave to the languorous but powerful rythm of the music. My mind seems to float and I feel relaxed, sensual, beautiful and very feminine. I have a hard time to tell which song is my favorite because they all touch a sensitive string of my body. The songs seem to emerge directly from her soul.
