5 out of 5 stars Amazing Sound,.......2003-11-24

Since attending a performance of Native Roots I have been playing their 2 CDs constantly. "Place I Call Home" is jolly, uplifting, with the unusual and irrestible combination of reggae and Native American rhythms and tunes. Great listening, highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good music, originality, and creativity.

4 out of 5 stars NAMMY Winners for a reason.......2003-07-06

The remarkable combination of Indian content and reggae style works beautifully, especially in the extremely catchy "Tribute," "Tohono O'odham People," and the title cut. Their other CD "Rain Us Love" won a NAMMY (Native American music award) in '02. Good music, good message, fun listen.

5 out of 5 stars Best Kept Secret !!.......2006-07-18

The James Hyland Band CD is one of my favorite Texas style country CD's. James is currently part of the great South Austin Jug Band whose music is also great. James soothing country voice and tremendous songwriting should eventually find him mentioned with the likes of other great Texas singer songwriters like Guy Clark, Joe Ely, Steve Earle and the late Townes!

5 out of 5 stars dont waste youre time.......2003-10-21

sounds too much like steve earle might as well just go get him instead save youre time

5 out of 5 stars Awesome album.......2002-07-13

This is a great album by a very talented young Austin songwriter. His writing is truly beyond his years and the version of the Ween song on track 5 is one of the best covers out there. James now plays with a more bluegrassy band here in austin called the South Austin Jug Band. Listen to this and I guarentee you will want to buy that too. This is a great record!
