About the Artist
Juan Jose Carranza was born in Costa Rica. He began to play guitar at an early age performing on the beach for tourists. He ended up in New York City where he learned from gypsys various styles of flamenco. He travelled and performed through-out Europe and ended up in Canada. He currently lives and performs in Canada.

I saw Señor Carranza perform Nov 2001 in San Jose Costa Rica at the Jazz Café. He was amazing and very original. If you have a chance to see him do it. His two CD's are great.

Extremely talented flamenco artist.......1999-11-21

My husband and I happened to catch Mr. Carranza in Montreal, Canada while on vacation. He was playing by the lakefront. He appeared very unassuming but when he started to play he drew an incredible crowd. He is lightening quick with his fingers and the fact that the CD is comprised of original pieces magnifies his wonderful gift. What a treat to have discovered him the way we did!
