Record that Never Stales. Perfect!.......2004-01-18

When I first got this record, I put it on and for some reason I was not that blown away. I put it on the second time and have listened to it every day for almost a year. Well I must have been having an existential crisis when I first played it. Why Wemba cannot seem to make another good old fashioned Rumba record like this is beyond me. This is his shining moment. This record is not that difficult to find and will probably become available again on Amazon. Grab it when it does surface again. I don't care for Wemba when he is making "cross-over" recordings and soukouss records with annoying animations. Papa has the goods and when he wants to he can make pure Congolese Rumba like this.

THIS CD IS SUPER AS IT CONTAINS A VERY RICH FUSION OF ZAIREAN CULTURE, RYTHYM AND DANCE STLE. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHO THIS CHAP IS THEN THIS IS THE CD TO TRY. THE INSTRUMENTATION, ANIMATION AND VOCALS ARE FANTASTIC. I RATE IT HIS #1. BEST IF YOU LIKE LISTENING TO COOL RICH MUSIC. A HIT LIKE -SEMA SPAYA- SUMS IT ALL!!!

This is one of the first cds From Papa Wemba I ever bought. The guitar, backup and animation from Viva La Musica is amazing. This cd is precious. Anyone who gets it should cherish it.

An Exceptional Album.......2000-07-18

Ok, so you've got to be wondering... Rap? In French? How could this possibly be good? Well... it is, and this album is an excellent introduction to french rap. French is an absolutely beautiful and poetic language, and when done right, rap just flows like water. It's smooth, powerful and continuous.

I first heard Pole Position in a music store in Switzerland, and was immediately hooked. The songs are beautiful, the music is excellent, and, if you understnad french, the lyrics are great. The CD is quite varried in it's musical styles, moving from fast moving rap to slower, more emotional songs. All in all, a well produced and varied album. It's an awsome introduction to french rap... and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys international music and rap.

Après trois ans d'absence, Sens Unik revient sur le devant de la scène avec l'album Pôle position . Certifié disque d'or en Suisse, cet album annonce le retour en France du groupe fer de lance de la scène rap helvétique. Des retrouvailles uniques pour Sens Unik qui avait pour un temps délaissé la scène française et qui rêve de reconquérir l'hexagone. L'album est excellent, oscillant enrte les rhymes disoc, funk, et d'autres compositions plus sombres. Les thématiques sont abordées de façon plus métaphoriques que celles du rap hexagonal, ce qui renouvelle le genre francophone.

Rap... in french? You bet. I picked up this record while perusing a music shop in switzerland and was immediately impressed with the sampling, the poetic qualities of the lyrics, and the awsome tunes. This is an exceptional CD. It's powerful.

The record is well balanced, mixing both fast and powerful songs with slower more mellow ones. All of the tracks have attitude and are lyrically and musically strong. It's not everyday you hear lyrics which work Mr. Magoo and Scoobydoo into a song... and yet Sens Unik still pulls it off.

If you don't understand french, much of this CD may be lost on you... but if you do, you should definately pick it up. It's a great disc.

Fifty Dollars - How About a Pound of Flesh As Well.......2005-12-12

I can understand 50 to 100 hundred dollars on truly rare discs but this one can be found elsewhere. It is a great CD and I love it but these vendors who are attempting to gouge, well, bless you if you can get it but your products are mostly not that rare. If I knew you better, I would tell you where to find reasonably priced Congolese and other African music but we just met so look hard on google and you will find reasonably priced Congolese Rumba. Unless your name is Hilton or Trump, stay away from these price gougers. Just my two cents, or in this case my twenty cents.
