Underrated Young MC follow-up.......2007-01-22

They don't make hip-hop quite like this any more. If you're a fan of early-'90s hip-hop that has both good beat rhythm and fun, clever lyrics that can be played without bleeping every fourth word, then give this album a shot. If you're DJing older hip-hop, this is a fun album to slip tracks from in surreptitiously and gauge people's reactions to.

Haystak is the Man..Ive listened to everything he has done to date..I have not been dissapointed once..whether he's alone or collabing with C.W.B ..Haystak always outshines any other artist in my opinion.Unlike Eminem who has a few songs that are repetitive and uncharacteristic of who he really is
Haystak is a lyrical genious.
If you dont have this CD then you cant trully know Stak the Mak
cuz this is where he started

When I heard this album in december of 1998, it blew me away.
There had not yet been a white rapper that came onto the seen with this much strength and ability. If you have'nt heard haystak-mac, then all you have to go on is eminem. You can't really compare the two, they have absolutley different styles. If you want to hear a tru to it country boy tell it how it really is in his given set of circumstances, order this CD now. You won't be let down, but if for some reason you are, e-mail me and I'll take the cd, I always play my Haystak cd until it quits working..........

There is really no one that you can compare Haystak to, because no one can come close to Stak. He combines intelligent lyrics along with catchy refrains. After you listen to this album once, you will have the chorus in your head, and you WILL be looking forward to the next time you GET to listen to this classic.

Beyond Flavor.......2006-10-05

Another great LP, as you can expect from the first. They didn't seem to suffer any sort of sophmore jinx that most groups fall into. If you haven't heard their first record that's OK cop this first and then go back. Chances are... if you like what you hear on this, you'll also be really into their first effort as well. So, cop this to hear some funky raps and also to hear Jay-Z rip it. A+

Slept on..........2004-09-04

This is not a "must have", but it is a worthy effort. The lyrics are pretty basic, but not bad and sometimes funny also. The beats are not bad either, especially for 10 years ago. By listening to this album, due to the lack of bling bling you would never believe Damon Dash had anything to do with it since that's all he seems to be about over the past few years. Jay-Z even makes a non-bling, bling appearace on "Can I Get Open", very rare for Jay. That track, as well as "Many Styles" and "All That" may be familiar to some fans of the "old school", but those are the real highlights on the album. Nevertheless, it's a pretty good CD all around.

An underground hit by Damon Dash.......2003-03-12

This album is one of the first of many Damon Dash hits and it gets no recognition. The album is a fresh look on hip-hop not the bling-bling that accompanies many a Damon Dash record. If you don't have it you need to get it. This album has Jay-Z in one of his first featured roles.

Big ups to SUAVE and SKI for makin one of my favorite LP's ever!!! The production was funky, jazzy, etc. The lyrics were not very serious however they make you feel way good listening to them all over again. This has a very high replay value and should definetly be re-kindled in the hip hop community. I'm sure all the TRUE HEADS will remember but if you've forgot now's the time to get on it.

this is by the rappers suave and ski. first of all, the rhymes are original, funky, and suit the beats perfectly. secondly, the beats are crafted by the aforementioned ski who is one of the best producers in the game(we need to hear more of him). this isnt as rare like original flavors second cd which featured Jay-Z, which true heads already got, but its still incredible. id like to hear ski rap a lot more, or a jay z album produced entirely by ski.
Lyrically they werent as amazing as P.E., B.D.P. or ATCQ etc and they werent as well known but they deserved to be because they were as their name suggests totally original.
bottom line is this is a dope old skool cd with incredible funky beats and ahead of their time rhymes, if ur a fan of ski u gotta get this.
its worth the small price for the cover with dame dash playin the sax alone.

I bought this album a couple of weeks ago and was pretty dissapointed. I had heard the wicked wicked song 'Can I Get Open' feat Jay-Z(In 93!!!) and just fell in love with it. So i picked up this album thinking I had stumbled on another hidden jewel dated 1992. This was not the case. Not to say that this is a bad album, it's desent, even got a couple of realy hot songs in here. But i was expecting more. Im giving it a 3, it's realy more of an 2.5, but it's from 92..and i just love the way hiphop sounded around that time. My advice to you if your thinking of picking something up with Original Flavor, let it be the twelve inch to 'Can I Get Open'(wich is from there second album).

Frenetic fusion of Ska and Conjunto .......2007-05-16

If you like World Music blender bands like Ozomatli, do yourself a favor and buy a copy of Los Skarnales' Pachuco Boogie Sounds System. This Houston band has created a hybrid that pumps up the already energetic Texas conjunto with a frenetic ska beat and pace. The music is heavy on organ and accordion, a gift from the Polish Polka that infuses Conjunto. Los Skarnales' delivery is heart shredding, pit bull ferocious. The style is a mix of Pachuco zoot suit swagger and down home South Texas road house funk, as befits a band that is half Latino and half Anglo. This is dance music, first, last, and always. I saw them at the San Antonio Accordion Festival, one of the best free music venues in the U.S. today. The crowd was an oil and water mix of Hippies-in-denial folk dancers from Austin, and Rude Boys and Bad Girls from the local Psycho Billies sub cult. Lead singer, Felipe Galvan, fully draped and pleated, had the crowd by the throat as he leaned into the mic, then began lunging and bouncing like Frank Sinatra on speed. Everybody was up and dancing, and nobody sat down until the sweating, gasping set came to an end. The music stayed with me that night. I went back the next day to buy their CD. There was only one left. Buy one for yourself and listen to the cut, Juana. The only thing keeping Los Skarnales from a major breakthrough is a national distributor and a CD press.

As a Today and a Big Bub fan, I had to buy this CD. It was a gamble that was worth taking. "Turn the Lights On" adds a new dimension to love songs and I will add this to my repertoire along with Teddy's "Turn off the lights". Big Bub's voice is awesome and a musical instrument. The crime would be for this album to go by unnoticed and not purchased, it is definitely money worth spending; music connosieurs would have deprived themselves by not purchasing and truly appreciating Big Bub's talent. The only complaint that I have is that enough information about the paricipating artists who collaborated to make this wonderful piece of art.

Don't TrustThe Past.......2000-10-17

This new Big Bub is his best ever!!!!!!!!!!!! I say don't trust the past because all of his past albums were trash. He needed someone else to produce his voice. Big Bud, clearly, has one of the better voices out today. I think he is one of the few R&B singers that actually sing. These others just beg, moan, and groan. Order this one. You'll love it!!

Album Description

These are some of the early recordings of Queen Latifah in her prime as a freestyle rapper. Produced and mixed by DJ Mark The 45, the CD also features the Original Flavor Unit, Lakim Shabazz, Apache, Maceo Parker and Lord Alibaski. The CD is nearly 50 minutes in length and 10 songs, one song "Voice of Power" by Lakim Shabazz is previously unreleased.
