Having never heard of Chetes before,one of my fellow workers downloaded his copy of this album onto my computer, and a few minutes into the first few songs; I was totally blown away by the beautiful catchy melodies and lyrics to his music,so I ended up ordering it immediately.It was just a no brainer..

Take a dash of The Beatles and Oasis and of course..that unique latin flavor,then blend them all with his beautiful pitched voice and what you get is a wonderful album full of hooky choruses and melancholic tunes that are just a joy to anyone's ears.

You may also want to check "Anoche" by Babasonicos,"vida de perros" by The Bunkers and "Memo Rex Commander.." by Zoe.They're all also excellent Latin Rock albums.

Bottom line : Make sure not to pass up on this wonderful and must-album by Chetes.It'll be a wonderful addition to your Rock collection...

I picked up Blanco Facil a couple of weeks ago, and it's a revelation. Dense and meaningful, it's my idea of an ideal album--and I don't speak a word of Spanish. A masterpiece.

The culmination of all that is Bachata.......2004-12-03

Bachata was Dominican country music, often had burlesque lyrics, and was considered low class. Juan Luis Guerra is credited with making Bachata into something special, giving it poetry and majesty. Well Monchy and Alexandra have taken Bachata to new heights. I think the title song Hoja en Blanco is probably the best Bachata song ever recorded. Heart wrenching lyrics, dueling vocals culminating in a wonderful harmonization, and fabulous melody make this song a standout. The other highlight of the CD is a remake of Mana's En el Muelle de San Blas. Note that the last track Volvere is not the same song the DLG (Dark Latin Groove) recorded as a remake of Wilfrido Vargas' Volvere. It's a completely different song.

Granted, you'll probably be sick of Bachata after a full CD of it, but all of these songs are great and do wonders as part of any party or listening mix.

This cd has just blown me away, I am very struck over it,Its so Romantic and I have found a few songs that really are into a personal problem i am dealing with..I Love Hoja en Blanco ..I bought the cd for that song,But after hearing the whole cd ..Wow i can say there are Lots of songs on the I relate to and have made this cd #1 on my list..I play it practicaly 24/7....... It's the Best ever!!

Nacho has really the sense of giving us happiness listening to his gorgeous music.
Some differences with his previous CD's but the same atmosphere sometimes very smooth and relaxing sometimes very "energetic" and juicy

By far, this is the best album by Soda Stereo. For those of you familiar with the band or to those looking to buy for the very first time an album by Soda Stereo, having this master piece on your CD collection is a must. I have all the albumens by the band and I've seen and follow them on different countries and places and if there is a single album I will listen to again and again it will be "Ruido Blanco". Cerati's strong voice and powerful guitar and the drum and bass sounding so perfectly good as well as the magnificent choruses are an unbelievable experience. This is also a unique document about the first ever major rock tour made by a rock band in Latin America. This album is much better than "El Ultimo Concierto" where you can't feel the energy and atmosphere of the "Ruido Blanco" tour. If you don't have it buy it. You will love it.

Este es el mejor disco de Soda Stereo. Para aquellos que conocen la musica del grupo o para los que nunca lo escucharon y estan pensando en adquirir un disco de Soda Stereo, tener esta obra maestra en su coleccion de musica es un verdadero lujo. Tengo todos los discos de Soda Stereo y los he visto y seguido por distintos lugares y paises, pero si hay un disco que voy a escuchar una y otra ves es "Ruido Blanco". La fuerza de la voz y guitarra de Cerati con una base compacta y perfecta de bajo y bateria mezcladas con la furia y el color de una impresianate e historica gira Latinoamericana, dan vida a un disco que se siente fresco cada ves que se escucha. Ruido Blanco es un documento unico de la primera gran gira hecha por una banda de rock en Latino America. Este disco es, sin lugar a dudas, mucho mejor que "El Ultimo Concierto" donde ya no se siente la energia de la gira latinoamericana de "Ruido Blanco". Si no lo tienes en tu coleccion, compralo ya. Definitivamente, el mejor trabajo en vivo de Soda...Los ví en este tour acá en Ecuador por los años 86 y 87...Experimentaron un cambio radical a partir del "canción animal", luego, no sé qué les pasó...parece ser q los últimos discos fueron hechos solamente para cumplir con la disquera porque se nota que las canciones carecen de la misma energía puesta en los otros discos...quizás estaban demasiado cabreados entre ellos y por eso se reflejó en el mediocre trabajo de sus subsiguientes producciones ( a excepción de "zoom")

Que Viva Zarzuela!!.......2006-11-10

Zarzuela is Spanish operetta. This is a fine collection of choruses and preludes from various famous Zarzuelas, particularly for a beginner in the genre. If however you have been "enrollado" in Zarzuela for a while it's a lot like popular classics or "Opera Goes to the Movies" It'll be stuff you've heard before. Maestro Roa knows how to conduct with finess and fire, whichever is required and the performances are easy to appreciate and very easy to understand the lyrics if you speak Spanish. I highly reccommend this disc to anyone who wants to take away the veil of mystery surrounding Zarzuela and start exploring on your own. This disc is an excellent place to begin!

Preludes & Choruses From Zarzuelas~ Miguel Roa was something quite new to me. Having mostly listened to classical from France, Germany, Austria, Russia and Italy I had not listened much to Spanish composers. The end result is that the music is very easy to listen to but feels light and I feel that it sounds a bit to much like movie soundtrack music. The book-let is quite well done and the painting on the front is splendid. The liner notes and the essay inside are well done and it is not overlong or too verbose. I must say that I had never ever heard of any of these composers before and it was a with an adventurous spirit that I started listening to this recording and to my pleasant surprise it was quite good and I therefore give it 4 out 5 stars.

The Dance of the Lovers is Here!.......2003-09-07

For many years an ancient 78 of one of the items found on this welcome CD was the most requested item for playing on the national radio broadcaster in Australia. Requests for full details of the item always yielded an announcement that everything on the record label was printed in Spanish, that there was not much of it, and all that could be deciphered and translated approximated to "The Dance of the Lovers".

Well, the same item features on Track 13 of this CD in a digitally recorded 1999 Madrid recording, and full information is provided about it and the other zarzuela excerpts in notes by Manuel Garcia Franco. This once popular item on Australian airwaves is a simple verse and chorus, the first in the minor and the second in the major mode. Framed in a short introduction and coda, it is sung twice, and what the female chorus members sing the first time is sung by the male chorus members the second time, and vice versa.

Although the Spanish composers of the zarzuela excerpts included here are represented in my collections by solo items from singers such as Supervia and de los Angeles, the choruses and orchestral excerpts found on this CD are all new to my ears. I have never seen a zarzuela and, welcoming and recommending this collection of samples, would like to read reviews or communications from others with better information.

I know almost nothing about zarzuelas, other than that they're Spanish light operas, immensely popular in Spanish-speaking areas and virtually unknown everywhere else. Why they didn't travel and Viennese operetta did, I'll never know; they're a heckuva lot more exciting!

If this disc is any indication, the music, the rhythm, the overall feeling of zarzuela music is infectious. I put this CD on and then couldn't stop listening to it. According to the liner notes, these orchestral selections and choruses are among the best-known from this genre. I can see why they're popular. The playing and singing of the Comunidad de Madrid Orchestra and Chorus are exemplary.

Now please excuse me, while I go sign up for castanet lessons.
