Solid - there are Better.......2003-05-07
This is very cookie cutter. It has two discs, as is the standard of the commercial comps, and has the "can't lose" artists and titles. Elevator by Jaffa, Boozoo Bajoe, Truby Trio, Nicola Conte, Intuit, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Ian Pooly, and S-Tone Inc. Those are good artists in the genre and their titles here are good . The problem is that those same titles are on better compilations - and even older compilations as they are not the "freshest" of releases.
The real downside to this set is that, unlike Brazilectro or Glucklich, you don't have any exclusive tracks. But you do have cuts taken from Glucklich (the FIRST and Fourth one!) and some of the other comps and added here. I guess you could say this is a Brazilectro/Glucklich/Boss-A-Troniq mix. All of the songs (except maybe two or three) are on those comps.
The other downside - the sound quality/mix quality is not up to par through and through. Check out the classic "Falsa Bahiana" as done by Stan Getz, and you can tell the album it was taken from - and it doesn't really mix in there well with the subtle bossa from Nicola Conte's Bossa Per Due and Lava's Vem Para Ficar. Side B, you have a strange little loop that happens with Groove Armada's Dusk You & Me too.
Having said all of that, this is solid. You do have some awesome artists and songs - and if you're new and wanna know what was happening from 1999-early 2001, check it out. But I'd skip it - get the second one.
