Just great! Get hooked, you'll be shaking your life out...! Great selection of that Disco time!
Pure Pop Culture..Cashing In On "Disco" Revival Of The 90s.......2007-04-16
This is more or less just another danceable pop hits of the mid - late 70s collection (with a few early 80s thrown in). Folks, lets be honest here...only maybe 2 or 3 tunes actually got heavy play in the actual clubs back when (which is the reason I even give this 2 stars). All these tunes are the same tunes for the most part that are on every other so called "disco" CD compilation. For one, "Grease" is FAR from anything disco or disco related (which im happy to see a few people actually noticed!).
Where's Cerrone "Supernature", Giorgio "From Here To Eternity", Alec R. Costandinos "Romeo & Juliet", Machine "There But For The Grace Of God Go I", Jumbo "Turn On To Love" and could go on and on (probably 90% of the folks reading this right now dont even know what those tunes I mentioned are).
Those tunes I mentioned are basic common club play disco from back when...im not even goin mega deep here, just mentioning a few of the REAL disco bilboard hit basics here. Sure, to promote the pop hits, most of these tunes on this comp were played in the corse of the night in 12" remixed format...but they were not the main attraction as pop culture believes!
If anyone is truely interested to hear what disco was really about and wants to get a small taste of the hard true disco sounds, if you can find it (since its out of print), look up the CD comps The Best Disco In Town vol 3 (whole CD) and The Best Disco In Town vol.2 (75% of this CD is true disco) put out by the now gone Hot Productions...there you'll get a small taste of the REAL disco hits from the 1976 - 1980 era which kept everyone dancin and havin fun (with a few early 80s ones thrown in). Forget this pop culture cash in on what the radio mainstream called disco (and if this is what disco really was, I wouldnt blame em one bit for the whole disco sucks movement...but this IS NOT REAL DISCO!).
Like I said, I DO give em credit for putting a few tracks on here that actually were REAL club hits and not on every pop comp (Gibson Brothers "Cuba" is the main one that stands out). But don't take my word for it, seek out the 2 comps I mentioned above and hear for yourself!
Disco Queen Lives!.......2007-04-02
This is fabulous as it brings me back to my disco queen days! I am the same slinky, sexy dancing goddess of the 80's! Well, it sure feels like it.
The best of the best.......2007-03-17
Great treadmill music. This one covers most of the good stuff from the yesteryear's of disco.
Get on up and Boogie!!!.......2007-02-02
Whether its 'pure disco' is debatable...but this is a first rate compilation of Classic Disco songs...every single one on this disc has 'outlived' the era just listen to Knock On Wood, Dont Leave Me This Way, Dancing Queen and of course I feel Love...fantastic compilation the first in the series.
Worthwhile.

Customer Reviews:
Delightful.......2007-07-11
This excellent compilation offers something for everyone: great ballads like Kiss You All Over, Fool If You Think It's Over and Emotion, catchy pop in the form of Stumblin' In, Which Way You Goin' Billy, Kung Fu Fighting, Rivers Of Babylon (not really hard to find), Beautiful Sunday and Love Is In The Air, plus some soulful moments with Right Back Where We Started From and Love Really Hurts Without You. The two most eccentric tracks are the vocal masterpiece After The Goldrush by Prelude and the gravel voiced UK singer Hurricane Smith's Oh Babe What Would You Say? His other hit, Don't Let It Die is also something to get hold of. In its quality and variety these songs prove that the decade of 1970s was the golden age of pop. The CD is beautifully packaged with an informative booklet providing information on each of the songs.
Real Music.......2007-07-09
These songs are refreshing to listen to because they are not remastered with the high tech, bumped up, synthesized overkill decibel/ frequency levels of newer CDs. It's just the same, normal music we listened to in the '70s. The songs are in their original format. You can actually hear xylophones in Chris Rhea's "Fooled if You Think it's Over." There were some songs I'd never heard of, but the ones I recognized were worth the price.
Some of the Best 70s Songs.......2007-06-19
If you didn't live in a cave or a commune in the '70s, hopefully you'll listen to this CD and find yourself occasionally saying, "I remember that song!" This CD is a great value and with hits such as "Right Back Where I Started From," "Magic," and "My Angel Baby," you can't go wrong.
Awesome collection.......2007-06-10
I have purchased several compilation cd's over the past few years but this one had many of the songs that I loved in the 70's but could never find, the title of the disc says it all! Everyone will find music they enjoy and remember on this one!
Great memories, some question marks...........2007-05-28
For the most part, this is an incredible collection of songs that I haven't heard in a really long time. While I honestly cannot remember some of the songs ever being worthy of the title "hard to find," most of the CD did bring back some good memories of good friends, and times when we could actually understand the lyrics of the songs that were popular at the time.

The aim was to do for country what Saturday Night Fever did for disco. The result was that bars from Kona to Kalamazoo suddenly had mechanical bulls, and slickers walking around in cowboy hats. You might also pinpoint this as the moment in time when "country" music suddenly went cosmopolitan, paving the way for Garth Brooks. Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love" was one of the decade's biggest singles, and this album briefly made a star of Mickey Gilley (whose Texas club provided a home for that alpha bull). Fans of Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and Bonnie Raitt may want this collection for the tunes they lack elsewhere. And it sure recalls an era. But please don't call it "country." --Bill Holdship

Where were the good songs?.......2007-05-21
I love this movie, and I like the songs on this soundtrack, but, there are some songs that were in the movie that realy need to be on the soundtrack, but, they, for some reason left them out. Such as the intro song, "Texas", by Charley Danials. But, overall, it is a good album.
you made my day........2007-05-14
I have the music on 8track but, haven't been able to play it for years, no 8 track player. Now the music is back. Good customer service.

younger days!! Some really good memories! Thanks!
Urban Cowboy Music Lover.......2007-03-10
at last I found my Urban Cowboy music... love the movie and the music
Very Very Good.......2007-02-12
I'm not a country music fan in the least. But I saw this movie at least 3 times and it was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the music. There are several good artists on this soundtrack like Dan Fogelbert, Bob Seger, Anne Murray, The Eagles, Johnny Lee. Charlie Daniels, Kenny Rogers and a few others. Every song on this ST is excellent. Even if you're not a country music fan like myself, this is one good CD to have in your collection of movie soundtracks.

Appalachian Stomp is an ideal starter disc for those just beginning to explore bluegrass. Mostly this is because its 18 selections are so immediately accessible. The "classics" here, in other words, are usually those infrequent bluegrass cuts to have gained radio recognition beyond a core bluegrass audience. That explains why along with timeless standards such as Flatt & Scruggs' "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top" we also get "Dueling Banjos" from the film Deliverance, a cut that is to classic bluegrass what Walter Murphy is to Beethoven. There are less immediately obvious choices too, though. If your previous exposure to bluegrass doesn't go beyond the Holy Trinity of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers--for example, if you've never heard J.D. Crowe & the New South's stellar example of progressive bluegrass, "Old Home Place," or experienced Jimmy Martin lay down the law on his rousing "You Don't Know My Mind"--then you're in for a high-lonesome surprise. --David Cantwell

Less successful when it's sentimental (Waylon Jennings' "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys") than when it's wry (Willie Nelson's myth-puncturing "Me and Paul"), this cash-in compilation of previously released cuts was just in time to grab the first platinum record ever awarded a country album. It's not bad, but both Jennings' contemporaneous Dreaming My Dreams and Nelson's Red Headed Stranger are more nuanced tastes of the good-bad-but-not-evil-ol'-boy lifestyle. (Not to mention much of Tompall Glaser's own Outlaw compilation.) This 1996 CD reissue adds nine more tracks from the era as well as a new Jennings-and-Nelson version of Steve Earle's "Nowhere Road." --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
THE BIRTH OF THE "OUTLAW MOVEMENT" IN NASHVILLE ! (and the rest of the world too).......2007-07-11
Wanted: the Outlaws (1976) is the album that changed country music forever. Although most of the songs on the album had been previously released, the way it was all packaged and marketed reached an audience that hadn't been interested in this genre before, young rock music fans. The album cover featured photos of the long-haired, bearded, and rugged-looking Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Tompall Glaser, along with Waylon's attractive wife, Jessi Colter, on an old wild-west WANTED! poster. The music inside is a collection of country music, most of it on the rowdy side, with a couple of catchy ballads by Jessi. Waylon and Jessi sing an energetic duet on Elvis' Suspicious Minds. Willie sings of a musician's rowdy life on the road in Me And Paul, and then creates a thoughtful barroom scene in Yesterday's Wine. Waylon's at a bar, too, but he's country rocking with his song, Honky Tonk Heroes. He also sings the reflective My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys. Jessi's ballads, I'm Looking For Blue Eyes and You Mean To Say are very good, and she's a great singer. Waylon and Willie duet on Heaven And Hell, and their co-written anthem Good Hearted Woman, which includes an audience track to sound "live". Tompall adds his country-rock version of Jimmie Rodgers' T for Texas and the hilarious Put Another Log On The Fire. The album sold millions, and opened the door for a new style of country music that would dominate the scene for the next decade. Even ol' Buck and Roy started sporting beards on the TV series Hee Haw, and so did Glen Campbell! Other country singers, like Hank Williams, Jr., David Allan Coe, and Johnny Paycheck got on board, and older outlaws like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard enjoyed new interest in their careers. Country rock acts, like Charlie Daniels and The Marshall Tucker Band joined in, and the "Outlaw Movement" became an influential force in contemporary music. This 20th anniversary issue is well put together, remastered to sound better than ever, and includes many songs that weren't on the original. The songs are listed as, "The Original", "The Lost", and "The New". "The Original" are the songs that were included on the original release. "The Lost" are previously released songs by the singers as separate artists. The best of these are Waylon's (I'm A) Ramblin' Man and Slow Movin' Outlaws, Willie's You Left A Long, Long Time Ago and Healing Hands Of Time, and the duets with Waylon and Jessi. "The New" is the Steve Earle produced Nowhere Road, which is a new country rocker that features Waylon and Willie together. Wanted: The Outlaws is an important country music album, a peice of history, really, and is essential for every fan of country music, or music in general.
Wanted: The Outlaws.......2007-05-28
I think this reissue of the 70's classic is a perfect example of less being more. I am not certain if any of the new additions make this CD better than the first version. In fact, to be honest, I think the first version is a 5 star classic, while this reissue overall deserves a solid 4 stars. My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys is the best of the bunch here, while the cover of Suspicious Minds is outstanding. I always loved the two songs from Colter, and I think the addition of more from her lessens the overall impact of You Mean to Say and Looking for Blue Eyes. A great CD. The sound here is fantastic.
One of the Classics!.......2007-03-09
I have wore mine out. I need to buy a new copy.
Texas music.......2007-03-08
A real gem and the heart of the outlaw country music movement. The recent re-release with the songs added that didn't make the first album is a nice addition to any collection. Makes you wonder why they didn't include them the first time around. Who knows. If you thought it was great on vinyl you'll love it on cd, just a Fantastic album!
Original Was Better.......2007-02-28
In agreement with most of the reviews here, if you love the 70's country music so-called outlaw movement, you will love the music here, I have the original on a still working 8 track, I was very excited to get an
expandanded edition of this on disk, but to be honest, the longer edition looses something for me, I do "like" Jessi Colter, but as we all know, she does not carry this album, extra tracks included 3 Jessi solos in a row, then 2 Jessi duets with Waylon, that part of the Cd was a bit much for me, but besides that one pont, this is still a great set of tunes and an essential part of country music history to own.

Selection is not good.......2006-07-27
This tape is short and the melodies are not engaging for kids. It was waste of money.
Baby Einstein: Traveling Melodies .......2006-02-23
Hello everyone,
This CD is great!
My son has ADD & when we are out & he gets Anxious I put this CD in his portibale CD player.
It seems to help him calm down & better cope with things.
I think that every parent should have this CD that has a special needs child.
Thanks so much for putting it online for people to buy.
Thanks Again,
A Greatfull Mom
Saved My Sanity.......2005-11-03
My husband and I are musicians so I inwardly groaned when we were given this CD as a gift--I'd rather play the originals rather than some synthesized kiddie version. However, on a recent road trip we got desperate when our colicky son would not stop screaming. We popped this in the CD player and it calmed him down immediately. I swear, it's like aural crack for babies. We now play it at bedtime to help calm him down and it still works. You may not love this CD, but your baby will.
A Very Pleasant CD for Little Ones in the Car.......2005-11-01
I picked this up for driving around music and was very pleasantly surprised. Quite enjoyable (and my son seems to like it too!) and perfect for exactly what it says--traveling around. Easy listening and could possibly make your child smarter, great!

Customer Reviews:
Why are you waiting?.......2006-12-16
Ashkenazy is one of the titans of Chopin. Davidovich and Arrau are the other two. They're all you need. Get Davidovich for the concertos, (inlcuding the Krakowiak--Op 14), Arrau for the nocturnes and a few micscellaneous pieces. Ashkenazy handles everything else.
(Btw, Ashkenazy vs. Davidovich re. the impromptus is a toss up. But since the impromptus aren't on this disc, you can make that critical decision another time.)
Ashkenazy's scherzo #2 (op. 31) IS the best. Period. Other interpretations that your favorite classical music station may substitute are downright lame.
The rest are basically sublime. The first and 4th ballades will send shivers up your spine by Vlad's sheer technical ability. His artistry is second to none.
Chopin: Favorite Piano Works.......2006-07-25
An excellent complilation of Chopin works which includes 3 of the pieces I am currently learning. Definitely has encouraged me to improve my piano skills and allow me to better appreciate his style of music.
Chopin: Favorite Piano Works (London 2 CD).......2006-02-24
Beautifully done 2 CD of Chopin works. I've played it every weekend since I got it, loving every track. It's well performed and recorded, and is an excellent collection for anyone interested in Chopin or his adopted homeland of Poland. And, of course, you can't often go wrong with the London Label.
chopins Mazurkas.......2005-08-08
this is a wonderful collection of the mazurkas but Ashkenazy plays a lot of them too fast my music teacher played these with more pathos he seems like he cant get done fast enough with some of them some introductions should be slower with more feeling otherwise all the mazurkas i wanted are in this disc just wish i had got better artist like Claude Arrau
REST FOR THIS WEARY SOUL.......2005-03-09
On vinyl I owned Ashkenazy's complete recordings of Chopin's piano works. Prior to purchasing this CD of what I call "highlights from Vladimir's Chopin Recordings", I had not replaced them in this format. What a joy it is to hear Vladimir Ashkenazy play these works again. I'm reminded of how much I loved his playing of Chopin on vinyl looking forward to each "new release" with great anticipation. Being, what is referred to, as a "senior citizen" , Chopin's music means ever so much to me offering rest for this weary soul. Vladimir Ashkenazy's performances on these discs are first rate and ones I truly love. As a previous reviewer pointed out, this compellation is a bargain-great price, great music, great sound and great performances by a master of Chopin's music.
If you love Chopin, as I do, buy this recording it will sooth your soul as only great music can.

In an age when the old-timey soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou? sells 5 million copies, it's hard to imagine how revolutionary Will the Circle Be Unbroken seemed upon its release 30 years ago. The triple album (now rereleased as a two-CD set) paired many of Nashville's venerable country and bluegrass performers (Roy Acuff, Mother Maybelle Carter, Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Merle Travis, Jimmy Martin, Vassar Clements) with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, or as Acuff called them, "a bunch of long-haired West Coast boys." The idea seemed nearly as foreign as Martians setting down in Tennessee, but the Dirt Band were Colorado hippies steeped in the genre, so there was no disputing the authenticity of the music, or its earthy appeal. Aside from the sheer joy of the performances (listen to Jimmy Martin's "whoop" on "Sunny Side of the Mountain"), there's great fun in hearing Roy Acuff give the boys a lesson in doing a song right the first time (and using the word hell before launching into a religious number). And Mother Maybelle wafts through like a benevolent ghost, or at least a patron saint. One caveat: The boast of four previously unreleased tracks is balderdash, since three are really between-track conversations and rehearsals, and only "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" qualifies as a real song. But that's nitpicking. Buy it. Love it. Wallow in it. O brother, that's country music! --Alanna Nash
Customer Reviews:
all time classic.......2007-06-11
was the first record on blugrass I heard, is still an all time classic
I don't know, mate..........2007-05-29
Everyone seems to love this record, and I can see why. It's relaxed, old-tyme bluegrass from some of the masters, both (then) young and old. I don't want to come down too critically on this album, as it is quite solid, but - to my ears - that's the problem. It's solid without being inspirational.
Be honest- if you weren't familiar with the cast, it would just be another bluegrass album, no? It's just a hodgepodge of famous names, and very rarely do these all-star casts ever prove inspirational. Everyone seems to be enjoying everyone else's company, perhaps sipping a drink or two, and singing a few tunes here and there. Even Doc Watson sounds a little flat, save for "Black Mountain Rag." That should tell you something.
If you want FANTASTIC bluegrass, save your money. Buy a Kentucky Colonels or a Muleskinner record. Heck, buy an original album by any of these artists that have fire, inspiration, and are truly sensational.
A piece of history.......2007-05-16
I first purchased this album on in 1974 or there about. I recently re-purchased it on CD. It is as good today as it was then, maybe better. The music is breathtaking in it's straight forward simplicity and unadorned honesty. This is one if those albums that just happened at the right place and time. Sadly, so many of the folks on the album are no longer with us. This should be required listening for all the "young country" stars of today. Country music was never better than this.
Great Album, Great CD, Great Amazon!.......2007-02-21
Had been searching for this since hearing the LP in my youth. Just as good as I remembered. Love the additional tracks and great instrumentals. Great service from Amazon all the way to NZ.
Great old country music.......2007-02-11
I own the original LP and could no longer play it because I have gone to only CD's. I had been looking for the CD and was very happy to finally find it. This is a great classic BlueGrass album. I just love this music. If you love Bluegrass you need this album, it's a must have.

New Age music, ambient electronica, and spiritualized hip-hop received their first major, K-Tel-like treatment in 1996 when Virgin Records assembled Pure Moods. The "As Seen on TV" compilation quickly became a hot seller, and it would be nice to think that its popularity has as much to do with the music as the marketing. To be sure, Pure Moods offers genre hits aplenty: from Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to "Sadness" from Enigma; from a dance mix of the "X-Files Theme" to edits of vintage electronica from Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells) and Jean Michele Jarre (Oxygene). Beyond other selections of beat-enhanced chants and a few other popular themes ("The Mission," "Twin Peaks"), the album, refreshingly, also includes a few selections noteworthy only for their originality and quality. A three-track section near end of the 70-minute disk features affecting soft African chants from Geoffrey Oryema, followed by "My Wife with Champagne Shoulders," a dollop of regal, faintly ethereal romanticism from master film scorer Mark Isham, then a robust piano workout, "The Promise" from Michael Nyman (The Piano). With so many elements of interest on its 17 tracks, the album's broad diversity is sure to have broad popularity. --Terry Wood
Customer Reviews:
A classic.......2007-06-14
Great compilation of electronic music for it's time. A lot of depth to it, you don't get to the 5th or 6th song and start getting into what seems like "filler".
Classical relaxation.......2007-05-20
I loved the music on here they are so peacful like the xfiles theme tubular bells with the overy babbling melody and crockettes theme which was the best song with no vocals and they saved the best for last LILY WAS HERE with excellent non vocaling music with lite accoustic guitars and perfect saxaphone playing with a touch of soothing melody. My mothers into spiritual things mostly and she loves this pure moods mix of peacful music. I use to listen to this while I sleep I loved it but now I sleep with the fan on because I love to hear the sound of the fan while I sleep.
New Age as a child? Really?.......2007-05-17
I must have been around six or seven when I came across this cd through the TV ads. I couldn't buy it myself but I loved the music. It wasn't until I was much older and borrowed it from the library did I remember how much I loved this. I uploaded some of the songs onto my computer, only because I had downloaded some of them already. I started listening to the other pure moods and it's still the same.
Flowing music between ambient, new age, and soft electronica it pulls up its own forrest of emotion as it pulls you closer into the center of yourself. YOu find those pieces of you again that you haven't discovered. A must have for anyone wanting to get in touch with themselves, or just don't know how to relax after a hard day at work.
The Sway.......2007-05-16
I must admit, I've always felt kind of silly for owning this CD. Yet it's got wonderful songs on it. Each one sets a tone that carries you throughout. I've had this CD for years and I still pull it out and listen to it.
oldie but goodie is the pharse.......2007-01-16
I use to listen to this cd over and over when I was younger. Happen to run across it in a packed away box. Been listening to it for two months now, love it just as much as when I first gotten it. Matter of fact, after my teenager heard it, he had to have a copy for himself. Lucky, amazon sells it. He loves it just as much as I do.... surely a favorite.
I did checked out the other pure mood cds and they are ok, a few good songs on them but I dont think it can compare to the very first one put together. Every song is amazing.
If you like music with a little color, not to strong, not to weak, but very lovely to hear...recommend this one.

Inaccurate track info?.......2006-03-09
Maybe I have a one and only, but track #11 is not Sweet Home Alabama. On my disc it is Lola by The Kinks.
"Supergroups" is a misnomer here.......2005-01-13
Best of the 1970's "Supergroups"? This is the best group of songs they could come up with? Music from bands like Boston, Kansas, Styx, ELO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana and BTO are great choices. But, who in their right frame of mind would consider Grand Funk, Rare Earth, Sugarloaf, or the Little River Band as "Supergroups"? Okay, the Little River Band had several hits, but they certainly weren't "Super". Some of these bands are so dang obscure that I could DARE most of America to name ONE other hit from half the bands on this disc, and I'd bet they'd pull a brain muscle and hemmorhage trying to do it. 14 total tracks. 7 songs are worthy classics, but the other 7 totally miss the boat. If I were producing a disc with these songs, I definitely would not have used the label "Supergroups". Perhaps a more apt title for this CD would be "Poor Man's Hit & Miss Tunes From The 70's". Sound production is less than crisp. Makes a nice drink coaster.
Good Stuff.......2003-01-07
Not a bad collection of 70's stuff, every song on this CD will be pleasing to the ear. Boston, Santana, ELO and others are represented as well as many other groups. If you are into the music of the 70's then this will fullfill all your expectations.
Great Collection!.......2002-05-19
If you're like me and don't own all of the original (albums!) tapes from these bands, then you'll love this CD. I often try to find classic rock compilations that have REALLY good songs on them, but most of the time I only like about 4 or 5 songs on any one collection. Not so with this CD! I snapped this one up because I totally enjoy every one of these songs. And several of these bands were one or two hit wonders, so why buy the band's whole tape in order to get one or two songs? Okay, so I'm not a die hard fan. Whether you have the original tapes or not, you'll like the variety and awesome guitar on this collection of classic 70's rock.
