5 out of 5 stars So Dreamy, So Thick, So New... Kinda New.......2006-04-07

I'll begin by saying this isn't the only "Ministry Of Sound Chillout Sessions" I've heard, in fact I love the MoS brand, so I can honestly say that EVERY single compilation has it's on flavour, from the "Clubber's Guide To" to "The Annual (Spring/ Summer/ Annual)" Which means, the previous and next instalments don't necesarily match this review. With that being said: This particular Compilation has a very elegant/ european/ underground feel to it. It's indie electronica and some rock-gone-acid-jazz, and of course, it wouldn't be European without some House music. It's fascinating that in the middle of an elephant-driven craze a song talking about taking a holiday so someone can love someone better starts to blend seamlessly. Yes, it's THAT type of record. It's not Pop, it's not a 'greatest hits' mash-up and it's definately not boring. I remember the first time I heard it (I was working graveyard shifts at that time) I'd listen to the first cd and it'd make me fall sound asleep after the first half. It's not a bad thing, it's just very relaxing, very soothing to the soul (Specially the Lior song "This Old Love", which helped me get through a rather painful breakup) Overall, it's THAT kind of session. It makes you think, it makes you apreciate it, it's a 'life soundtrack' from track 1 of the second disc ("we all live and die" from Kinda New) giving you a morning starter to the soothing track "Run (Jacknife Lee Remix)" on the first disc which invites you to THE promised dreamland. Nothing you'd expect from a regular MoS compilation, everything you'd expect from a really good chillout compilation. A MUST for any true Chillout Junkie.

4 out of 5 stars Definitely worth listening to -- disregard the "rabid" fans ;-).......2005-07-15

If you like listening to an eclectic mix of mid-to-up-tempo dance music, this double album will keep you satisfied. I have not listened to too many MoS compilations, and this is the first one from the Chillout Sessions that I have in my stereo. It has become the most played album of my collection for the past several weeks. The selections are individually excellent, the grooves addictive, and the whole picture is even nicer as you don't stop in the middle and ask "What the heck was that?" about any of the tunes. If you are hesitant as to whether your $35 will be wasted, take it from an objective listener: try it out and you won't regret it...

4 out of 5 stars Some great tracks........2005-06-18

I cannot agree with the other review that this CD is completely worthless, although I have not heard the other Ministry of Sound Chillout Session Volumes, this one certainly isn't as horrible as the other reviewer portrays it to be... there is a nice amount of good tracks on both CDs... although I can admit that there are also a few that are not very interesting at all. For example, I can't stop listening to tracks 1-4 and 16-20 on CD 1... but the songs in between go from not so good to pretty decent. I would definitely give this CD a chance however...

1 out of 5 stars Worst Chillout Sessions by a long shot........2005-05-27

I've always been a fan of the Chillout Session compliations, but that may stop with this one.

The music on this 2 disc set, especially compared with the quality of most of the previous offerings, is dire. It's a collection primarily of presuambly first timers to this genre that manage to take standard chilout music, often little more than playing an underlying beat with melodic music over the top, and make it sound terrible, with boring beats, and painfully stupid lyrics sung badly, or crappy samples.

If you don't own any of the Chillout Sessions 1-4 then get those; they are all amazing in their own right, and totally above and beyond the garbage on this set. I haven't heard no. 6 yet but given no. 5 was pretty disappointing (although not this bad), then given no. 7 is like this the chances of me spending my money on anymore Chillout Sessions is really low. And it's time to hit up Ebay with this copy.

There are one or two tracks that stand out as above average but unfortunately no where near enough to even justify picking up this set. I don't want to mention them in case that might somehow encourage anyone to purchase this. I refuse to waste further time talking about this complete waste of my money other than to say this : Avoid.

5 out of 5 stars Chillout Sessions - Vol. 4.......2006-02-25

Great set for some smooth ambient music. The first disc is a lot more laid back than the second, but both are good. If you've heard the other chillout sessions (or are looking for a good intro), this is a great pick up.

    5 out of 5 stars Chillout 4.......2004-12-14

Out of all the MOS Chillout Sessions, Number 4 seems to be the best so far,

It gives you a feel if what the cover displays WInter White Darkness Chillot to relax by.

A good mix, esp including some non English SOngs, and songs that have the feel of the 20s.

    5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing.......2003-05-21

I bought this cd today, and I'm yet again, incredibly impressed. MOS has not failed in bringing yet another beautiful mix of songs. I would definately recommend it to any chillout fan.

4 out of 5 stars MOS Does It Again,.......2006-03-05

Ministry Of Sound has always had the reputation of putting out the best music. They have a way of findind the best DJ's, Artists, producers and remixers from the 4 corners of the earth and bringing them to us on a CD. This CD is no exception. Soothing beats without lacking in tempo or energy, this CD could literally be enjoyed by a cowbow from Kentucky. It's just that palattable.

4 out of 5 stars Solid Chill CD Set. Check Songs Listed For Potential Repeats.......2005-02-10

Tons of Great Songs with great mixes (which don't always go hand in hand). The previous review was too critical just becasue he already had many of the songs. Just read the list of all 40 Songs that come with this two CD set if that is a concern. There are enough good/great songs to justify at least 4/5 stars overall. If you love "Chill" music, there are too many good songs to pass this one up! Highly Reccommend.

    1 out of 5 stars no go........2004-10-18

yeah....this cd bit. i bought chillout sessions 4 last year, and looked forward to buying this compilation as well. unfortunately, it didn't live up to the last one. out of the 20 or so tracks on the first cd, i liked 2-3...and they were all on other compilations i already own. the same was true for the second cd. this was not worth the money. i was very disappointed.

    5 out of 5 stars The ultimate chillout album.......serve chilled ;) .......2004-07-28

Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to be going well and you just feel like throwing all your toys out of your pram?

Well this is the kind of music you need. It will open your up your mind...transport you to another world...and ultimatley get you back on track.

Every good downtempo track or artist you can probably think of from the past year or so is represented here - Joss Stone, Turin Breaks, Ikon, Jack Johnson, Coldplay...

Defintely not your regular chillout album full of bland repetitive beats...

The first disc is more laidback than the first...a wonderful collection of blissed out beats beginning with Zero 7's Home which gently eases you into chill mode. The second disc however gives you the option of uping the tempo with a dancier mix of grooves aimed at progressively lifting your spirits.

By the time you've worked your way through both discs, you'll be well and ready take on the world again!

A must buy if you're looking for an album to chill to...this is the ultimate in its class, an truly amazing mix of laidback house and blissful beats that make for the ultimate chill.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars Simply Chilling.......2003-05-11

After thoroughly loving The Chillout Sessions 2, I eagerly proceeded to buy this album, and I was not disappointed. From the funky beats of Groove Armada's "My Friend", to the earthy rhythm of Nitin Sawhney's "Sunset", this album was a mixture of blissful beats and chilled out house.

A personal (and perhaps obvious) favourite, was Zero 7's "Destiny". Nearly all the songs were excellent in their own right, with the only ones I didn't think belonged on the album were Basement Jaxx's "Romeo" and Lamb's "What Sound".

Following the same composure pattern as the previous chillout session, the first disc was filled with flowy, melodical beats, while the second disc was more dance-orientated.

I would definately recommend this to ambient and non-ambient music fans alike.

5 out of 5 stars Only rating disc 1.......2006-08-10

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but half way through - I'm digging it.

I tried CD2, the house music, but I just don't like house much at all, so I won't rate it - It would be an unfair vote.

2 out of 5 stars Very Dissapointing! Ranges from poor to mediocre, nothing great. Some Repeats........2006-05-29

As owner of Every single Chill/Lounge music CD I am aware of, this was the biggest dissapointment in a long time. Chillout 2001 thru Chillout 8 was very good in comparison. This CD is not a complete disaster, however, I could not find one song worthy of a 5/5 star rating. Quite a few 4/5 star songs however, lots of 2-3 star songs. Some of the better songs were repeated on older Chill discs or present on other series of lounge discs.

I think the people that rated this 4 or 5 stars don't own a lot of lounge/chill and are probably a lot easier to please. I'm very dissapointed. Maybe this 'genre' is all dried up! :) Oh well...

I highly recomend any of the CDs in this set before this one. In fact, Chillout sessions 7 was SUPERB!!!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect summer relaxing music.......2005-11-28

whether your bag is sitting on a porch drinking a beer, or sitting in a room smoking a hookah, or just relaxing during a long car ride, this series is incredible. It contains a great diversity of unknown artists and some that are up and coming.

4 out of 5 stars not great, but not bad either.......2006-05-24

disk 1 is just what the name suggest "chill out". nothing more nothin' less. i'm not that big a fan of the chill out genre but this cd is good for you and your other to cuddle up next to the fire or together on the beach with a coctail.

i pretty much bought these for the producers on disk 2 and it did not dissapoint. there is anthem after anthem of the deep/sexy house genre on here. i will not take the time to list them all but if you are a fan of the benn watt/kaskade/miguel migs type of sexy house then you will drool over this second disk. #11 is a suprising stand-out that i have never heard before and it is mixed in so well that it dlew my mind. It is funky in a way that is not played out and sounds way fresher and relavent than the prod date would suggest, '04.

make a drink, light up the grill, get the pool ready and invite over some friends because this cd is begging to be enjoyed by the discerning house lover.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent example of the genre.......2005-10-03

I have many "Chill Out" compliations. This one stands out amongst my collection. It was very refreshing to hear the track selection they choose for this release. I plan to get the previous MOS "Chillout sessions" volumes after hearing this one.

2 out of 5 stars "Dance out" Sessions 6.......2005-04-14

Yesturday I borrowed this CD from my local library, before I went and bought it, and was utterly disappointed. I am a massive fan of chillout and electronica, but I could only find one or two songs that were actually chillout.

The only thing stopping me rating this album 1 star is the fact that there were actually a few good songs, but besides that, it should have been called Dance-out Sessions 6. That's what Disc 2 is. And half the songs have the same intro anyway.

Don't waste your money. If you want real chillout, buy Cafe del Mar.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best With No MOS Repeats! All New Music! Get This.......2005-02-10

I was very pleasantly surprised to find this new 2 CD Chillout set from ministry of Sound. As an owner of all the previous MOS Chillout Sessions as well as Ultra Chill 1-4, and Chillout 2001-2005, I thought I had exhausted the "Chill" Genre. What a surprise to find out that this new MOS Chillout Sessions 6 has no repeats (from prior CD's/similar CD's) AND every song is at least 4/5 when it comes to rating, with many 5/5 songs. Just when I think my "Chill" collection has run dry, MOS comes out with a killer Chillout Sessions 6! Wow!

I can only hope they come out with more discs this good without repeats!

I owe my older brother for introducing me to Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation. But this Summer 2004 Chillout blew me away and put me on a mission to find chilling tunes and inspiring mixes.

Disk 2 starts off dreamy with SubSub, and picks it up from there with funky, interesting tracks, seamlessly mixed together. BRS 'Lovin Me' is great, but all are good - hit play and call a few friends. Probably will be your fave of the two, initially.

Disk 1 turned me off at first, mostly due to the melancholy Michael Andrews "Mad World" - a Tears for Fears cover. A little more unusual mix, and a rapidly changing mood for a few tracks, but the latter tracks on Disc 1 are great. The Sofa Surfers, and tunes like 'Try Me' and 'Jam for the Ladies' converted me. Got to get a couple more MOS Chillout disks and am glad to have been exposed to these other artists!
