the set price of this goes completly against the whole idea of this series. it was meant to be an affordable method collecting the best sides of singles on one record. aside from the price it's still an excellent compilation.

This is the Kool & the Gang I grew up listening to. Before they became a ballad singing mega group this is what they sounded like. Their Kool jazz and funk sides in the early 70s were the soundtrack of my youth. Highly recommended if you want a taste of the band before they went commercial.

Slamming Funk&Grooves.......2004-09-07

Kool&the Gang was so thick with the Funk at one time that even the Godfather of Soul James Brown was taken notes on them.now they had some aight Glossy jams in the 80's that I dug.I don't rip anybody from paying Bills especially in the Industry. the James "JT" Taylor had it's purpose. but the 69-76 Era Kool&the Gang was just Rumbling in the Funk all the time. Grooves that still move Dancefloors. this Collection will have you doing the Bump all Night.strong arrangements&alot of Flavor on the Rhythm.you feel the Funk.

If you are looking for a collection of romantic songs to be played while having a drive or a walk with your romantic interest or even by yourself, this is the one to have: issued by the European Sony/Bravo label, it focuses on the songs who were on the radio in the 80's. If you are a "son of the 80's" and enjoy music to awaken your contemplative and quietest side, buy it! While hard to find outside the US, it is worth having. Further recommendations: purchase also Volumes 2, 5 and 7, which are MUCH better than some of the most recent items of the collection.

i am a big fan of the bloodhound gang, and this is nothing different from their normal stuff. It's a very funny song and the franky goes to hollywood sample sounds great. I thooght packman was a little over the top with his drugds but Q and Jimmy quickly tell him how wrong drugs are. This is a really funny song and well worth listning to, so go ahead and get it, IT ROCKS!!!

finally a full overview of the Greatness of Kool&the Gang.you get the early Kool&the Gang Funk,&Jazz vibe then you get the Polished Pop Sound they did in the late 70's through the 80's.a very Versatile Band that survived&went through various trends themselves.

Comprehensive Collection of Kool.......2004-07-12

This two-CD set has the best collection of instrumental and funk tunes recorded by Kool and the Gang. The discs are artfully divided into a relaxing "Summer Madness", "Wild and Peaceful" instrumental collection on Side 2; and an upbeat, "Jungle Boogie", "Open Sesame" funk-based Side 1. This dual set works very well for me, because it has the best jazz and funk/disco hits Kool and The Gang recorded in the early to mid-70's. Those who discovered this band in the early 80's will be happy to find the hit "Celebration" is included; however, they will also notice the omission of "Cherish".

This is one song you'll listen to over and over. It's got a great beat, a great sound, and the lyrics are hilarious. It took me three times listening just to realize what they were saying, but that's half the fun.

The Lame Ballad of Chasey Lain.......2000-06-18

Now don't get me wrong... I like the Gang. And this song is actually pretty damn funny. But only for about a couple of listenings. Bears no repeated listening though. Which is a shame. I mean, it's title is The Ballad of Chasey Lain... smells like an anthem, coulda been a great song, it's already got a great title, but turns out it's only a joke... Nice cover though.
