****This is NOT "Ruben Gonzalez" the Piano player! (of Buenavista Social Club fame) Even though his Photo is on the cover! This is the "Anselmo Sacasas" Orq. with the singer/vocalist that happens to have the same name "Ruben Gonzalez". "Anselmo Sacasas" is the PIANO PLAYER and leader.... how do I know?..... I was the Conga player in Ruben Gonzalez' band in New Orleans from 1975 - 1986.
The late singer "Ruben Gonzalez" was an AWESOME sonero! After leaving Cuba in the early 60's, he came to Miami were he lived and played for several years, then moved to New Orleans were he married, raised a family and had a great little conjunto of which I was lucky to be a part of. This CD is really great.. and so is the sound! Get it! **The "Euro" company that put this out "took" 9 of the songs on here from the original recording on the Tumbao lable (TCD 057) TITLE: "Poco Loco, Anselmo Sacasas y su Orquesta"
