Starts Strong But Gets Winded Way Too Early.......2003-05-18

When this c.d. is good, it is really good. And when it is bad is is disco imitation bad. But such is the risk with any survey c.d.. The c.d. begins with a few excellent portuguese guitar tracks followed by the incomparable Amalia Rodriques with her velvet voiced mastery of the art of the Fado. However, be forewarned, this isn't a Fado c.d. and unless your interest is a general progression of several genres of portuguese music, some of which are musically more interesting than others, I suggest you skip this c.d. and buy one with only Fado. That said, if you are looking for a survey c.d. of that past 60 years of portuguese music, including the good, the bad and the ugly, well then, this is the c.d. for you.
