am I really writing an ICP review?.......2006-01-30
Like any Insane Clown Posse album, Jeckyl Brothers has its fair share of humerous toilet humor songs. On this album most of them are pulled off very well. Some highlights include "I Want My Sh*t" which is an odd, dreamy trip-hop style song with lyrics depicting an immortal man's journey through time (in which he discovers his long tongue allows him to perform cunnilingus especially well)... "B*tches", of course, is the usual comedic revenge violence track. "I Stab People" is one of my favorite humor tracks. And of course "F*** the World" managed to get on the radio with the most f-bombs dropped in a single song.
But what really makes this an album worth special attention is its serious side. One thing about Insane Clown Posse is they always manage to sneak in a few songs that are extremely intelligent and insightful as well as bitter and cynical. The crude and vulgar lyrics that make the other songs so hysterical instead make these serious songs seem that much more honest and potent.
The best example of this is the biting social commentary "Terrible", which I find to be one of ICP's best songs period. Other good serious tunes include "Assassins" and "Echo Side," both unsavory and uncomfortable perspectives on their relative subject matter (not to mention creepy tunes.) The two character tracks, Jake and Jack Jeckyl, being part of the joker's cards concept are also creepy as well as socially applicable. They cool the album off at the end with the meloncholy "Nothing's Left" which is probably one of the least controversial tracks I've heard ICP put out.
The album's weakest points are where it takes itself too seriously where it should be making fart jokes - "Play With Me" and "Mad Scientist" are both decent tunes with good socialogical observations, but they end up coming off as cheesey since the fictional stories being told obscure the good points. ICP are best at being smart when they are pissed off, and these songs are a bit weak because of their lack of ICP's trademark bile. Some other filler tracks as well which aren't really worth a mention.
This is deffinitly one of ICP's best albums, and contains many of their best songs. I wouldn't recommend it to someone expecting "real" rap or hip-hop, and I wouldn't recommend it to someone without a real generous sense of humor. But both the humor and the social commentary can be rewarding to those willing to put aside their pre-judgements based on media hype.

Besides Tom Rolands and Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers, few artists have the clout, chops, and DJ wherewithal to change the landscape of dance music. Still, it's not something the duo seems in a particular hurry to do. Since the release of the now-classic Exit Planet Dust, an intensely groove-able rap-stomp hodgepodge, and Dig Your Own Hole), their 1997 breakout record, big beat has been eating itself in a commercialized frat-boy frenzy. Yet the Brothers haven't found--or even really tried to find--that Something Else to turn the masses on in a different, exciting direction. True, their last full-length, Surrender, found them incorporating a house-ier feel, mixing a retro aesthetic with four-on-the-floor beats, but it was really the same old batch of clever samples and rolling thumps. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing; most of us have happily run in place right along with them. Come With Us also finds them pulling all the usual tricks; there's an irresistible dance-floor anthem or two ("Star Guitar," "Denmark"), swooping keyboard tricks ("Come With Us"), guest vocalists (Beth Orton, Richard Ashcroft), and the amazing fluidity that allows a moody song like Orton's "The State We're In" to sound perfectly, logically in its place. While it sounds like they're coasting, their refined, sugary formula is so sweet, it's hard to complain. --Matthew CookeCustomer Reviews:
Good music, bad buy.......2002-02-10
Guess they just knew people who always buy the limited release would get suckered into buying it. Guess they taught me one thing....never again will I buy anything limitted edition from the Chem. Bros....they can block rock MY beat...
excellent.......2002-02-07
Come with the normal release.......2002-02-06
I've been a big fan of the Chemical Bros ever since Dig Your Own Hole, and I've been waiting for this album for awhile. "Come With Us" starts the album off with a jolt. The music, vocals, and general vibe resemble The Crystal Method's "Trip Like I Do." The rest of the album, refreshingly devoid of the overwrought guest vocals that plagued "Surrender," is a great romp, even though it does leave one wondering "is that it?" I'm still waiting for one of their albums to end on a high note, like "The Private Psychadelic Reel."
The "Limited Edition Package" is just that. the package. there's nothing here you won't get from the normal CD, except that you trade the plastic jewel case for a Pearl Jam-esque cardboard fold-out. Save your money and buy the regular CD. i'm still miffed that they'd do that to us.
another great album with a horrible gimmick.......2002-02-05
Good, though quite a departure from their original sound.......2002-02-02
they named the album "Come With Us"

This Reunion ROCKS!.......2005-08-12
For the hard-core fan, this is a must-have as it contains three new cuts - two alternate takes of songs that made the Greatest Hits CD and one that appears here for the first time.
I actually prefer this version of "Secret Garden" as I find the string & chime ending adds a much more sorrowful mood to the piece than Clarence's excellent, but mellow saxophone on the "official" mix.
And I love "Without You," an old-fashioned goofy rave-up with Bruce & Company in full Gary US Bond mode. I actually wish "Without You" had made the Greatest Hits package instead of "This Hard Land."
You also get a live recording of "Murder, Incorporated" so all-in-all this is almost an all-new compilation.
Highly recommnded.
