I loved all of the songs. Spike Lee's day, Bill Lee produced most and wrote some of the songs from this movie and I am a fan. Not one of Spike's most popular movies, but I enjoyed it.

Sidelined by a divorce and single fatherhood, Marc Cohn returns to active duty rejuvenated, if recognizably scarred, since the marginal disappointment of his sophomore outing. Burning the Daze strikes closer to the high mark set by his '91 debut, his sultry vocals and well-crafted songs attesting to the set's careful gestation. Guitarist John Leventhal, a not-quite-secret weapon on the prior albums, is officially aboard as coproducer, an apt choice given his contributions to other recent singer-songwriters' studio work, bringing his versatility and musicianship to bear on a solid new clutch of Cohn originals. "Already Home" opens the set with a sleek midtempo groove, Memphis-cured horn riffs, and allusions to Homer and the Wizard of Oz, "Saints Preserve Us" successfully cops from the Band, and "Lost You In The Canyon" transforms a cell phone into an effective metaphor for more primal communication problems. --Sam Surtherland

This was recommended based on recent purchases. I didn't care for it.

4 out of 5 stars Marc Cohn - Still a great bet.......2006-08-01

Marc Cohn battles the same demons most singer/songwriters encounter: How to follow up the great first album (Even two albums down the road). He wins - mostly. If you are a fan you know exactly what that means. 'Walking in Memphis' still echoes in all of his work as the benchmark to strive for. But this truly isn't where he should be judged. So many of the cuts on that first, self-titled album are genuinely better songs. True Companion. Saving the best for last. These are Marc Cohn. And these are the ones that you won't hear except on XM late at night.

His first album was pedominately written on piano wherein the succeding efforts were driven by guitar. Different vibe. But that opens another dimension to his music missed by many reviewers. His live album, available only through a link on his web site, is the one you really want to make the effort to own.

The long and short of it is this album (you see, I show my age calling it an album)is a worthwhile addition to any collection. This is one of the discs you put on after a lousy day at work while you sit in traffic. After which you put on Jackson Browne's 'Live Accoustic, Vol. 1.'

4 out of 5 stars IN MANY WAYS, A DIFFERENT SOUNDING ALBUM THAN THE FIRST ONE.......2006-06-12

Compared to his first album ('Marc Cohn'), many of the tracks have a much 'beefier' and, I think, a much richer sound with various instruments (incl. acoustic/electric guitars, horns, percussion) having more prominence (arguably, two or three tracks are slightly over-produced). This sound is, no doubt, due to the greater influence of John Leventhal who co-produced (with MC) the majority of the tracks. Only 3 tracks feature MC playing the piano and, as a consequence, much of the 'atmospheric' quality of the first album is absent. Also, it seems to me that MC sings in a higher key at times.

None of the foregoing necessarily means this is, by comparison, a 'bad' album, but it could mean that 'Burning the Daze' does not live up to the expectations of some fans. The album has plenty of good songs and there is, certainly, a lot of vocal and instrumental variety. Many of the tracks have an up-beat 'radio friendly' feel to them; whilst others (notably 'Healing Hands' and 'Ellis Island') retain that emotional edge which characterised MC's first album..

Here are some brief comments about my favourite tracks (as with the first album, there were no tracks that I disliked)(all songs written by MC, except 'Turn On Your Radio' - written by Harry Nilsson):

GIRL OF MYSTERIOUS SORROW - A fairly up-tempo yet haunting song which features much fluent acoustic and electric guitar playing as accompaniment.

HEALING HANDS - One of the tracks which has MC playing the piano and, therefore, has an overall sound similar to many of the tracks on the first album. The track also features a short acoustic guitar solo and and a fairly subdued string arrangement.

LOST YOU IN THE CANYON - A mid-tempo song with some very crisp, emphatic percussion and some fairly 'heavy' electric guitar playing - so this track 'rocks a bit'.

VALLEY OF THE KINGS - This track starts with a fairly slow and delicate intro (reminded me a bit of the intro to 'Gasoline Alley' by Rod Stewart); the instrument being played is, according to the liner notes, a cittern (which sounds like a mandolin). However this soon switches to the much 'heavier' sound of electric slide guitar together with an increase in tempo. MC's vocals, on this track, are pretty 'gutsy'.

TURN ON YOU RADIO - Very 'laid back' sound. MC's vocals are, at times, a cross between singing and drawling the words (this is is not meant to be a criticism). This track features some great vocal harmonies - particularly during the last minute or so when they build to a rhythmic 'chant' up to the fadeout.

I found little to fault with this album and it is well worth a 4-star rating; but a note of caution - if you are considering buying 'Burning the Daze' based on the strengths of the first album, listen to all tracks first (the amazon samples, although brief, do manage to convey the differences in overall sound and vocal delivery).

4 out of 5 stars Soothing.......2005-09-18

The 4th song and the last song are very healing for me. I don't know the name of the 4th song but it sings to my heart. The last song, Ellis Island, also has a lot of soul. Most of these songs are gutsy and gritty. A great CD.

2 out of 5 stars One strange CD.......2004-01-07

Like many others here, I find Marc's voice to sound very strange on the majority of theses songs. It's hin and lacks his trademark timbre. Most don't even sound like him. Also, the album is way overproduced and lacks the raw, live sound of the first two CDs.

5 out of 5 stars The Second Attempt At A Massive Series.......2003-03-19

Rhino graced the world with the massive 25 volume series "Have A Nice Day, The Greatest Hits Of The Seventies." It tried to anthologize the eighties as well, but that decade not only saw the demise of AM radio as a pop music forum, but also saw the division of styles of music, hence rock, pop, country, and all other stations pidgeon holed to program a specfic genre. Oh sure, there are artists still able to "cross over" to pop charts from other genres (Norah Jones), but those artists are now far and few between. The splintering of music led to the failure of this next series. There were only five produced, and all are out of print. Like radio, Rhino had to splinter to produce this series. The songs presented here and on the other four volumes cater to the "AC" crowd, other series produced with the eighties theme include "New Wave Dance Hits." Even with the severe seperation of music style and audience, Rhino produced a fine AC series, which of all eighties music, is the most overlooked. That said, take a look at the fine choice of song here.
"Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes is probably the most hated/loved song of the eighties, Rupert had two more, "Him" and "Answering Machine," "Him" is presented on a later edition of this series.
"This Night Won't Last Forever" is by Michael Johnson, also popular for "Bluer Than Blue." "This Night" has a lilting country feel, similar to the work by England Dan and John Ford Coley. "Do That To Me One More Time" is the standard recorded by The Captain and Tennille. The version here is the referred single, the album version is a touch longer, by fifteen seconds. "An American Dream" is by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the Nitty Gritty dropped from their name during their "pop" career, hence the group title, and their one pop hit. "Your Only Lonely" by JD Souther is a dreamy ballad with a tropical feel. "Romeo's Tune" isn't really known by it's title, you'll know the song when you here it. It's an "Oh, Yeah" moment. Bonnie Pointer left her famous sisters to record her one solo hit, I prefer the 12" mix opposed to the single version presented here. Her "Heaven Must Have Sent You" was recorded and released toward the end of the disco era. Lauren Wood sounds like the missing Doobie Brother with good reason, her minor hit "Please Don't Leave" was produced by hubby Michael McDonald. "Gee Wiz" was a blip on the radio, and should have stayed such. The apparantly ageless Bernadette Peters covering a song from the fifties isn't her style. Melissa Manchester was closing her career at Arista, "Pretty Girls" was a minor hit, a radio friendly upbeat ditty, similar to her late hits on that label. Overall, this collection best represents pure radio hits, it's an excellent collection of AC pop songs beautifully mastered by people who excel in handling vintage material.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Sample of Early 80s AC Pop Hits.......1998-06-29

A few of the more obscure tracks don't stack up against the big hits, "Escape (Pina Colada Song" and "Do That to Me One More Time," but there are some nuggets worth hearing again, some of which can't be found easily on CD. All original versions.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Just amazing retro Tubes.......2002-02-23

All of the material on this CD was recorded before the "fame and fortune". We have some demos and some un-released tunes. The un-released material is a display of sheer musical talent. All of these songs appear to be high energy jam sessions that have been polished to a nice tight presentation. Most impressive is the fact that the un-released songs are all done live ( in a small to medium sized club)yet still sound studio "tweaked" as far as band tightness is concerned. The signature changes, lighting quick fills, and off time drumming of Praire is a clinic in dynamic drumming.Fee and the boys sound like they are having way too much fun , I just wish I was one of the few people in the crowd during the taping of these sessions.
If you a moderate to hard core Tubes fan you will love this CD as it`s an timeless documentation of the creation of one of rocks most technical groups. Listen and pick the songs apart for yourself... you`ll agree.

5 out of 5 stars The Tubes at their earliest and most experimental.......2001-03-19

The real highlight of this disc is the batch of live demos from their pre-A&M days. Songs like "Baby, Your Face Is Mutated" and "Never Amount To Nothing/Hermuta" showcase the superb musicianship and wicked humor of this oft-overlooked cult band. These songs best capture the spirit of The Tubes as a live act. The early versions of "Brighter Day" and "White Punks On Dope" aren't as polished as the versions that would find their way onto the first two Tubes records, but what's great about The Tubes isn't always what's "polished".

5 out of 5 stars It is about time!.......2000-04-13

It is amazing that it took so long for this collection of great tunes to come out. This is the album that those of us have wanted to hear for over 20 years. It captures the band before the commercial producers at A&M and Capitol put their spin on what they felt the band "should" sound like. The music is raw and real, it is the closest to the live shows yet released. I hope there will be future volumes of material from this vastly under appreciated band.

3 out of 5 stars Embryonic Tubes.......2000-03-30

Just picked this up the other day. If you're a big Tubes fan you'll want to buy this, but be warned, these are very early recordings from the band's beginnings and is not their best stuff. Early versions of WPOD, Mondo Bondage and Brighter Day are interesting to listen to but the real reason to buy this CD would be to hear the songs that have never before been available. A lot of the subject matter in the lyrics can be found in later Tubes songs (ex. Whiz Quiz/What Do You Want From Life). Musically, these equate with early Tubes albums but lyrically, these songs are strictly the novelty type.

5 out of 5 stars Cannot believe they weren't really famous.......2007-03-23

I'll be honest, I don't know what doom is but this doesn't sound like it to me. This is some of the best Rock n Roll I've ever heard. It sounds like Love, the Stooges, and Black Sabbath all rolled into one. I cannot think of anything cooler than that.

5 out of 5 stars VINTAGE BUT SWEET DOOM-METAL.......2006-06-07

AH, THE SWEET SOUNDS OF PENTAGRAM, ALONG WITH SABBATH,THEY ARE THE TRUE KINGS OF METAL, NOT HARD BLUES ROCK, LIKE ZEPPELIN. THEY JUST DID NOT CACTH A BREAK LIKE THE OTHER HARD ROCK BANDS OF THE LATE 60'S -EARLY 70'S, LIKE SAID BANDS AS SIR LORD BALTIMORE, CAP. BEYOND , ELIAS HULK, AND SO FORTH. BUY THIS AND GIVE THIS BAND THE PRAISE THEY DESERVE.

5 out of 5 stars Classic hard rock at its best... Pentagram--the American Black Sabbath!.......2006-03-22

Pentagram is one of those obscure bands that you will probably never hear about on a mainstream level. This band's cds, particularly the two compilations: "First Daze Here," and "First Daze Here Two," probably can't and won't be found at your local Best Buy or Tower Records. You'll probably have to go to your local independent record store like I did (Bionic Records in Fullerton) and purchase the album from a guy who is addicted to ganja and the 4 foot long bong hidden somewhere in his closet. But once you do purchase these two early years comps., you'll be glad you did. You will feel like you stumbled onto an obscure band that you can introduce all of your geezar friends, uncles, older cousins, and even your father (and other balding, or grey-haired middle-aged men who grew up listening to early "heavy" bands like Steppenwolf, The Hendrix Experience, Mountain, Blue Cheer, the mighty Black Sabbath, UFO, Budgie, early Scorpions [Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth-era], and The Stooges)to, as well as some of your cohorts who are disciples of the aforementioned early heavy/stoner rock bands. And all of these people shall be quite impressed.

The best way to sum up the sound of Pentagram is--think along the lines of the music of Ozzy-era Sabbath meets the vocal sound of Ian Gillian. Please don't incorporate the Ian Gillian-era Sabbath reference here as that was a completely different sounding era. The guitarist, Vincent McAllister sounds like a direct apprentice of Tony Iommi, riffs, vibrato, solos and all--and what are the odds, he played a Gibson SG during this period? I wouldn't be surprised if he was using a Laney amp with a Big Muff distortion either! Plus, the lyrics are humorous and very much directed towards men. Any band that pens the lines "Now listen here baby--I got a message for you, I need a woman who can cook, clean and screw," is top notch on my list. These cats were straight-up American classic hard rock and it's about frickin' time their early music has been put on recorded media to be heard by the masses. The cd art is pretty dark and cool as well. You know a band doesn't mess around when they use the Sigil of Baphomet as their band's official symbol (mind you, this pre-dates any other metal band such as Venom using this symbol). Get ready to rock out and impress some friends when you listen to this one!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome 70's American Doom.......2005-12-12

Pentagram, the perpetually forgotten 70's American Metal band. Hailing from Alexandria VA, they toiled in obscurity for the better part of two decades before releasing an LP. Along the way, they released a handful of singles and recorded some demos as well. These tracks are culled from those various locations and given a good treatment to form what should be a mandatory disc for every Black Sabbath Fan. While comparisons to Black Sabbath are quite appropriate, I can almost imagine a straight line being drawn to this from the works of Blue Cheer (who these guys idolized) and other early stoner/psychedelic bands. Perhaps it's just my American patriotism or something. While this certainly is very heavy music, it's not in the same league as Sabbath, and as much as I like the guitar tone on here, it's really quite different from that of Tony Iommi. You might even call it a bit of an acquired taste.

First, I'll tackle the straight up metal stuff: Forever My Queen is supposedly the most well-known song from the band. Anyway it explodes right out of the gate with a simple yet crushing riff and an awesome solo to boot. When the Screams Come is my personal favorite song on here. The main riff just drips with evil and there's a bit of thrash in the middle. Certainly we have here one of the greatest ever forgotten metal anthems, and it's a tragedy that this is only know by a small circle of devoted fans. Earth Flight, B-Side of the band's second single starts with a bass intro and builds to a heavy rocker with Sab riffs. In fact, the one in the middle reminds me a bit of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Review Your Choices is similar to the aforementioned When The Screams come, but here the guitar is toned down a bit. That doesn't mean it's any less evil, however.

Now, as I mentioned the band literally worshipped Blue Cheer, and it shows on some of these tunes. Walk in the Blue Light hearkens back to the band's earlier material, which leans more toward Blue Cheer than Black Sabbath. Not bad, but there were much better things to come from the band. The song Starlady has become notorious, since Gene Simmons had offered the band $10,000 for this song but they famously refused. Incidentally, this may have resulted in Simmons ditching the band and signing Angel instead. In my opinion, this sounds much better than what KISS would have done with it. It's a pretty straightforward 70's rocker, and yes that's rock not metal. Be Forewarned was the band's first ever single in 1972, and it's trippy with its waves of tremolo guitar. Lazy Lady, the B-Side to Be Forewarned, is another Blue Cheer-ish song here with a sliding bass intro and just some hints of doom throughout. An auspicious start for an auspicious band.

The remaining songs are a mixed lot. These strike me as works in progress, or something that could have used more development. For example, Hurricane, the band's second single, begins with a rightly marching riff and then half-way through, goes speed metal for about 30 seconds. It sounds very awesome and quite innovative, but at the same time under focused. And Livin' in a Ram's Head, a VERY roughly recorded tune cut in a club in DC, has some sort of "stoner-punk" sound but feels a little incomplete as a song. I can only imagine that, given proper studio time and treatment, this could have been blaring out of every FM radio.

20 Buck Spin reminds me of some of those old heavy jam bands like Truth and Janey or JPT Scare Band. It's a tale of a hooker and life on the street, and at the end it just takes off into an extended jam. Vince McAllister gets a little self-indulgent, but that's okay, he's actually a good player. Then finally, Last Days Here, the "quiet" song, but not emotionally light, as it deals with death and the afterlife in a heavy-handed fashion. I like Bobby Liebling's vocals on this one.

The band personally oversaw the remastery of the CD and the creation of the included booklet, with full lyrics and a few photos. Very good job on that as well.

So to summarize, if you are any kind of a fan of stoner or doom metal check this out. You won't be disappointed. Also be sure to check out First Daze II, coming March 2006, and the related band Bedemon, whose Child of Darkness CD will be out very shortly.

If you are into Doom or Black Sabbath you will like this! If Sabbath are being considered the godfathers of Heavy Metal and Doom, Pentagram must be the godsons! It's hard to believe that back in the 70's these guys never really made it, since they had very strong material as you can hear on this compilation album containing their career in the '70's. Back in '74 Paul Stanley of Kiss tried to buy the song Starlady for 10.000 dollars, but the band's singer Bobby Liebling didn't want to sell it. Only in the '80's and '90's they got their rightly deserved recognition and they were big influences on bands like Cathedral, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, St. Vitus and Trouble. If you like any of these bands you'll surely will like this album. This album gives you an inside scope in what way heavy rock music would develop, therefore highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Sounds more like La Bouche.......2004-08-02

I like it even though I DO agree a lot of it sounds the same. I do see Aqua's influence occasionally, but if I didn't know who it was, I would instantly guess La Bouche. I'm in a Daze! :-D

5 out of 5 stars Cheese at its best!.......2003-10-30

Daze is one of those Eurodance bands that never got the recognition that it deserved. While bands like Eiffel 65, Vengaboys, and Aqua flourished in the mid-to-late 90s, Daze was quietly overlooked. Those other bands are great in their own right, but Daze was able to make dance music that was fun and had good lyrics too. They didn't treat their listeners as if they were thoughtless idiots just dancing to the beat. They gave their songs a little uuummmpphhhh....which makes this album totally wonderful to listen from beginning to end. If you are a devoted Eurodance fan, you must try and find this great album. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Daze is better than toy-box and aqua!.......2003-09-01

Even thoe daze gets compared to aqua and toy-box, daze is much more supieror than those 2 groups for several reasons. Aqua and toy box have those annoying high pitched singers which gets really annoying to listen to after 2 minutes therefore, aqua and toy box are more in the bubble gum section which everyone dislikes unless if you are 12 and listen to radio disney or just some really childish and over grown teen or adult. The voice of the lead singer of daze is so strong and powerfull that it puts daze in the major leages meaning its not bubble gum as aqua or toy box.Daze is true eurodance. Also the songs of daze are much better in wording. Furthermore, i woudnt recommend playing aqua or tox-box while your driving in your car unless u want everyone to find you extremley annoying.

4 out of 5 stars Daze : Superheroes.......2002-11-26

Well...They come from Denmark, big breakthrough came in 1997, but before that they have done songs like this together about 6 years. So if you think that they're copycats of Aqua you're so wrong baby...
Superheroes may not be the best dance album nut it is sure one of the best. Songs like Tamagotchi, Be my lover, In the middle of the night, Toy boy, Tic toc and especially Sea of love are damn good dancetracks and you should pop this little baby everytime you're in the party mood.
I can promise you. It is great. Let it have you!...

5 out of 5 stars Superalbum.......2002-08-03

This first album by Daze is a pure 100% great eurodance album. All the tracks are very energetic and catchy. The best ones are obviously the TERRIFIC Hi-NRG smash-hit "Superhero", the fun bubblegum song "Together forever"(very similar to the "Barbie Girl" of Aqua but in catchier), the energetic "Toy Boy", "Sea of love" and "Land of the living" and "Tic Toc" that seems to be the favourite track of everybody(after "Superhero" naturally!). I like "Antonio" as well that sounds very much like a summer song.
The only bad track( there is always one) is "In the middle of the night" which lacks of energy and is boring. Well it just does not have the magic of the other songs.
Lots of my friends who do not like Eurodance just loved this CD and asked me to play it over and over( especially "Superhero" and "Together Forever", once again!)
So just don't miss this one!

4 out of 5 stars Sonically excellent CD!.......2004-01-31

Summer Of Love Vol. 2 is a nicely mixed selection of trippy pop songs, many of which blared from countless shirt-pocket ALL-TRANSISTOR radios in 1967. What makes this CD unique is that nearly every tune was purposely re-mastered using the original monaural mixes. Sonically, this CD is excellent, having been re-mastered by Bill Inglot who really has an ear for great sound.

3 out of 5 stars Oops, missed a song from my previous review.......1998-08-29

It's me again, the "music fan from California."

I left a song off my list, so just wanted to complete the review:

That Acapulco Gold -- The Rainy Daze. One of those stupid lead-singer-singing-through-a-megaphone ditties. Remember "Winchester Cathedral"? This is like that song, but a thinly-veiled ode to marijuana. Throw-away filler.

3 out of 5 stars Some great stuff, some filler.......1998-08-29

Some of the songs on this album were selections for the terrific original "Nuggets" album, which you'd be lucky to find anymore. However, while "Nuggets" shined throughout, this album is a very mixed bag.

The standouts:

I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night-- The Electric Prunes. A great psychedelic classic, with a bumblebee guitar riff.

Incense and Peppermints -- Strawberry Alarm Clock. A period piece, but still a great single.

Renaissance Fair -- The Byrds. A track from their fantastic "Younger Than Yesterday" album. Great Crosby/McGuinn tune. "I think that maybe I'm dreaming..."

Back On The Street Again -- The Sunshine Company. The best song by this group. Irresistable folk-tinged song with terrific harmony. Very happy sound, but melancholy lyrics.

My World Fell Down -- Sagittarius. This should've been a big hit when it was released. Instead, it's one of those rare gems that any true '60s fan should have. What a cool song. Great harmonies, instrumental parts, very well produced.

A Whiter Shade Of Pale -- Procol Harum. How can you not like this song? Rolling Stone voted it one of best singles of all time. Sort of "When A Man Loves A Woman" filtered and distorted through "Mr. Bojangles," with a healthy dose of extremely cryptic lyrics thrown in for good measure.

The filler:

Are You Gonna Be There -- The Chocolate Watch Band. So-so sneering Rolling Stones clone.

Epistle To Dippy -- Donovan. Donovan at his most wimpy and precious. Even the geeky song title should tell you something. Ugh! Turn it off!

Love Every Day -- Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart. Well, if you like Peter & Gordon, I guess you'll like this easy-listening stuff. Otherwise....

The Beat Goes On -- Sonny and Cher. As irritating as always.

Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out) -- The Hombres. Amusing back in the '60s as a fun novelty song. Pretty embarrassing and silly now.

Twelve Thirty -- Mamas And Papas. Not one of their best songs.

Let's Live For Today -- The Grassroots. Never cared much for this song (or group).

It's A Happening Thing -- The Peanut Butter Conspiracy. Their one semi-hit. You can tell why they only had one hit.

Six O' Clock -- The Lovin Spoonful. Not one of their best songs.

You can find a lot of the good songs on other albums such as the (subsequent to the original "Nuggets") "Nuggets"-series records that Rhino released. Maybe those will have a better gem-to-filler ratio than this album.

3 out of 5 stars Two Greats and a bunch of Also-Rans.......1998-06-29

The two really great cuts in this collection make it worth owning. That Acapulco Gold by the Rainy Daze and Let It Out (Let it All Hang Out) by the Hombres are true gems of the era. The rest of this stuff is fairly unremarkable.

4 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars - A must for any Twisted Sister fan.......2005-06-15

Early Works: Club Daze, Vol. 1 (1999.) A collection of early Twisted Sister recordings.

One of the most wrongly-ridiculed bands of the eighties was Twisted Sister. Due to the band's cross-dressing and long hair image, they were dubbed a glam metal band by many, despite the fact that this claim was far from the truth. While the band had the glam image, their music was much harder, heavier, and raw-edged than that of the actual glam bands - Dee Snider and the guys had a sound more similar to the likes of Motorhead than Poison. The band released five studio albums and assorted compilations over the years - including some of rare material they recorded before they started releasing albums. Read on for my review of Early Works: Club Daze Vol. 1.

If you're a Twisted Sister fan, this is something you MUST purchase. What you get here is several rare tracks the band recorded in the years prior to the recording of their debut album, 1982's Under The Blade. The sheer intensity and energy of the band's music is here in full force, even long before the band became a worldwide rock and roll legend. Sure, the sound on many of the songs is different than what you've come to know and love the band for, but it's still great. If you're a fan, you'll agree. Many of these songs are nothing short of excellent, but a good deal of them NEVER got any sort of other release, meaning this compilation is the only place where you can get them. And get them you should, if you're a fan of the band. I really can't say much else. If you like the band, buy this.

Sadly, most of Twisted Sister's releases are NOT readily available in stores, with the exception of the classic Stay Hungry album. Because of that, it's quite likely you'll have to do some heavy searching if you want to get the band's lesser-known releases, like this one. That's a shame, since all of the band's stuff is excellent. Why can't all of their albums get reissued and made more readily available?

Well, that's it. This compilation is nothing short of excellent, and EVERY Twisted Sister fan should add it to their collection. If you like the band, there's no excuse not to own this. If you're new to Twisted Sister, this isn't the best place to start (Stay Hungry is the best spot for any newbie to begin their collection), but if you're already a tried and true fan, don't hesitate to buy this.

5 out of 5 stars Painting their lips and shaking their hips..........2003-01-02

This CD is amazing! It sounds quite a bit different from other Twisted Sister stuff I've heard. I mean, some of the songs(Big Gun, T.V. Wife, High Steppin') actually have sort of a swing sound to them. It seems a bit odd coming from this band(well, unless you were alive in the 70's and saw them in the clubs) but for some reason it actually works. The rest of the CD is great too; I especially liked Lady's Boy, Pay the Price, and Can't Stand Still. Shoot 'em Down sounds way different than the version on the Under the Blade album, but it's awesome anyway. The only thing wrong with this CD is that the recording of Under the Blade is really bad, but the rest more than makes up for it. The jewel case booklet is hilarious, with Dee Snider explaining his purposes behind the songs.

4 out of 5 stars Gold for the Fans.......2000-02-20

If you are a Twisted Sister fan like me, this record just have to be in youre collection. Espesially the song "rock'n'roll saviours", it's just supergold, Í realy love the lyrics, It's also nice to se some songs by Jay-Jay, I like them to. Maybe the sound is a bit bad, but that makes up in love... The songs have a kind of Thin Lizzy/Led Zepplin sound that I myself enjoy very much, this record is for us a bit olkder diggers, not to bye if you only enjoy new music. So I say, Rock'n'roll lives forever but Disco dies today! Love Pär, Buy IT!
