Customer Reviews:
Alisha is truly the Queen of Hearts!.......2000-07-27
i am so excited to see that they are releasing more and more hindi cd's, especially of Alisha Chinai, among others. This album, Dil Ki Rani, i'd say, is the most remnant of her earlier hit album "1996" Made in India, considering the vast and varied material of her earlier repertoire, such as "The Babydoll of India"-1988, "Madonna of India"-1993, and "Indian Girl"-1995. Though this is not my favorite album of hers, it is definitely fabulous and high-energy- when i first heard "Love Around the World"- the first track on this CD, i was blown away by its sound quality and technology, as well as melody. I mean, as an American, i tend to favor the more authentic hindipop as opposed to american pop sound- however, if the song's goal is to reach American mainstream, it is certainly well on its way, and i only wish it the best of luck. i am actually glad that there is alot of american influence in this album, because then, it will only wake Americans up to india's sound- and then, once they have been cast as "accepted"- Indian artists can start releasing all their true hindi material, letting the world and especially america hear their exotic, seductive, bubblegum, cute, and romantic songs with the beautiful flow and sound of hindi words themselves. but for now, Love Around the World will have to do if any crossovers are to be made. i personally have so many hindi cd's and love them because they are not american- they are different and unique and beautiful, and i think that nothing should have to compromise itself to conform to the american sound, but what are you going to do? out of the soundtrack's songs- Love Around the World, Vah-Vah, Chhoti Si Baat, I Love Your Money Money, Dil Ki Rani, Shaayad, Disco, Bas, and Love Around the World Reprise, i'd say my favorite tracks were Disco, Shaayad, Dil Ki Rani, Chhoti Si Baat, and Love Around The World. i am a fan of that really bubbly, sugary pop sound, but i don't think u will find much of that here. you will however, find a pop sound with a more refined taste, and less bubblegum cutesyness. there are more world beats and lower notes to the songs than the typical babydoll, girlypop coos of Alisha, but i guess with such a constantly experimenting and evolving artist as herself, change is inevitable.
