The definitive in ambient compilations -- a must-have!.......1998-11-08

I consider myself a major ambient music buff, and I consider this CD, along with Feed Your Head 2 and 3, rank among the best in my large collection of music of this type.

Another great Planet Dog/Mammoth record. 90% of their stuff is outstanding!

This music goes way beyond Enigma. It transports you to a world of hypnotic rythymns, sounds of the east (Tibet -- maybe India?) and of spacy dream worlds. An excellect mix of some of the best ambient music I have heard -- very trancendental!

I highly recommend all three in the "Feed Your Head" series. This one I would rank equally with the 2nd. The 3rd is also very good, but with a more electronic sound. "Feed Your Head 3" is similar to "Planet Dub," (also from Mammoth/Planet Dog Records).

This recording is a compilation of excerpts from Monterey Pop, Bless Its Pointed Little Head, Surrealistic Pillow, and Takes Off. Only the last cut has not been released on a mainstream recording. A more accurate subtitle might be "Mostly Live and Previously Released '66-'68".

Rainy Ambience.......1998-05-15

Eleven groovy tracks which push the ambient envelope a little bit further. The album seems well-designed as a whole, moving from the wet, rainy pools of "Rain" and "Blue Digital" to the airy/spacy dreamwork of "Heavensairportcoffeeshoprestaurant." This is a great state of the union report for modern ambient music.

Get your head out of the ground.......2006-08-28

..and listen to this revalation!

I bought this CD after hearing 'Turn Off The Lights' which is perhaps one of the sexiest songs I've heard in a long time.
However, when I listened to the whole CD I was surprised that it had a perfect blend of ethnic and modern music styling.
Emok had collaborated with the talented Raquy Danziger of NY to add a taste of traditional Middle Eastern music to their progressive Isreali rock.

Personally, as a fan of punk/metal/goth music and also as a musician specialising in world musical styles, I found this CD to be impressive and inspiring.
The drums kick arse, the guitars are powerful, and the vocals are raw but in a good way.
If you want new and refreshing hardcore rock, you'll find it here.
If you appreciate a middle-eastern aesthetic, you won't be disapointed.
All in all, I highly reccomend this to anybody wishing for something amazing and new, but still relatable, to add to their collection.

If you looking for something fun, catchy, heavy and important.............you need to pick this up. I read about them in Revolver sometime ago. I must say SOAD was mentioned in the review....and although they might sound like SOAD at first they certainly blossom into some other variation of great music. They are a three piece band hailing from Israel from which they escaped mandatory military enlistment. Very raw at times and very off the wall at times these guys speak there mind without fear. Are they the next great thing...........I think so!

Fabulous recording, but..............2003-01-29

I really liked this recording of the Messiah. The orchestra and chorus sounded great! Every note, every entrance and cut-off was pretty much right on the money. My only complaint is that (in the copy I have) the liner notes don't tell you who the soloists are. Also, none of the tenor arias are included. Other than that, this recording is a pleasure to listen to.
