Customer Reviews:
Great collection of music from a brand new label.......2000-09-01
Track 1 "96 YEARS" features producer/pianist Patrick Leonard playing with cellist David Darling.
Track 2 "HOME FROM 17" is saxophonist Steve Tavaglione's contribution ("Tav" known for his work with Caldera, Frank Gambale, Lee Ritenour, George Benson, and Sly and the Family Stone) is actually written by Patrick Leonard, and is truly brought to life by Tav's lyrical playing.
Track 4 is "VAYA" and it comes from Jimmy Haslip (basist/co-founder of the Yellowjackets). This is one of the more burning tracks from the disc "RED HEAT," which also features the single 'NOVELAS."
Track 5 is "WEST" from Jeff Beal's "ALTERNATE ROUTE." Jeff Beal definitely reaches his potential of matching the quality of Miles Davis/Gil Evans "SKETCHES OF SPAIN" with this release - the entire album features the Metropole Orchestra and the Berkeley Symphony.
Track 8 coems from cellist Martin Tillman (know for his work with Michael Hoppe) and is called "ODESSA." This track is a genius combination of classical and pop, with regard to the acoustic and electric cello played over drum loops, while keeping track of some really memorable "POP" melodies.
There are nine tracks total on the disc from this new label, which looks, if this is the "tell-tale sign" of what is to come, to be FULLY going for it in the realm of "REAL MUSIC FOR REAL POEPLE."
