AS ALWAYS ITALIAN MUSIC HAVE BEEN LEADING THE TORCH FOR THE POP MUSIC MARKETS; EROS CD: MUSICA é , WAS THE ALBUM WHICH DEVELOPT INTO A
BIG SERIOUS HIT ALL OVER THE EUROPE CONTINENT ANS ALSO THE FIRST THAT WAS PUBLISHED IN SPANISH FOR ALL LATIN AMERICA.

MUSIC REVIEWERS WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES AS "EXPERTS", CAN NOT FIND RAMAZZOTTI MUSIC; JUST AS : EUROPE MUsIC" or WORLD MUSIC"
but INSTEAD AS ONE OF THE TOP MALE POP ARTISTS FROM THE LAST MILLENIUM, AS SIDE WITH STING, ADAMS,JACKSON, AND JOEL.

    4 out of 5 stars Italian rock.......2002-11-27

Musica è is the original Italian album and the 1991 blockbuster that followed his albums Cuori Agitati, Nuovi Eroi and In Certi Momenti. It's a strong collection of ballads and rockers that sold millions and created a place for Eurorock, a genre that can best be defined by referring to the music of Bryan Adams, for example: big singalong ballads and some rockier numbers, always very melodic. Strongest track here is La Luce Buona Delle Stelle which translates as The Good Starlight.

    4 out of 5 stars :).......2005-11-02

I'm a huge PVD adict and this CD is vital to any PVD collection. However, if your just a casual listener then you might just want to try and obtain Animacion and Otro Dia through other means as you will probably not appricate the rest of the cd as much.
Bienventura is acutaly on the Reflections CD (great song but might as well just get Reflections)
Another review talks about "Zurdo In Love" which has the same opening as Bienventura but fades into a VERY BRIEF (yet very beautiful) melodic synth (to bad its only 1 min long)
I had hoped to give this cd better reviews as the movie has great music buildup.

5 out of 5 stars About time this was released in the states!!.......2004-02-11

I actually heard the last track, 'Otro Dia', live, at Club Glow in Washington DC where Paul himself was spinning on 12/28/02. It was around 4-5am and he played the track on his first encore..... After dancing for about 5 hours straight to a fantastic set by the genius himself, Paul drops Otro Dia. My GOD. It was a spiritual experience. After being thoroughly exhausted, sore and dehydrated, this beautiful track rose my limp body from the dead, and had me back on the floor, with about 1000 other people going bannanas. This is BY FAR, PvD's best work, and it really speaks to the heart of what this man is all about.

The rest of the CD is a rare Gem. Although not the masterpiece of "Out there and Back", I still give it 5 stars. Track 7, "Zurdo in Love" is so beautiful, although more of a teaser track since it only lasts 1 minute.. I actually let the thing repeat for about 1 hour because it was so nice.. I wrote Paul to ask him to finish this track..

Zurdo is not your typical trance album.. there are a lot of breaks, mellow beats, hard beats.. etc.. it's very diverse and full of surprises.

    Buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Pick~.......2004-02-06

I love this CD~ very melodic and uplifting.....if you are a uplifting trance lover...this would definitely be your pick...i love it...listened to it for more than 10 times already...still loves it...one of paul's best....this cd is definitely worth your money...seriously...even my friends who love progressive house likes this cd too....

5 out of 5 stars An awesome Soundtrack.......2004-01-14

Wow, I never thought a movie would have a soundtrack like this, PVD does it once again with his a$$ kickin trance, Definitly give this cd 5 stars, you can never go wrong with Paul Van Dyk.

    5 out of 5 stars Yes it's true... God is a DJ!.......2003-12-21

An amazing album to a film that I probably wont see, but Paul Van Dyk certainly gives this his all, and has proven yet again that his talents as a DJ and Producer are First-Class all the way. His tracks "Buenaventura" and "Anamacion" are amazing, but the last track "Otro Dia" sends chills down my back. This is one of his best works... as is, basically, everything he touches turning into Trance gold. It is ACE!

    Album Description

THE VOICE IS BACK! Singing sensation Russell Watson is back with his 4th highly anticipated album release 'Amore Musica'! As it happens Amore Musica is an unbelievable, unexpected new album. Everything has at it's core Russell's unique twist. With lyrics by Diane Warren and Gary Barlow and Elliot Kennedy, who Russell believes to be the greatest songwriters in the world. 'All the songs are about love, music, peace, happiness and hope. That reflects the way I feel right now. It's a record to hold hands to. I want this record to be something that people think about affectionately. Songs that can be played at weddings and funerals. I've never generated as much passion in my lyrics. It's a different sound. It's not about Russell Watson and the way he sings it, it's about Russell Watson singing from the heart and I don't think I've ever done that before.' Decca/Universal. 2004. * No US release scheduled through the end of the year.

5 out of 5 stars You couldn't pay me to listen to this riff-raff!.......2005-12-22

I'm not saying this is the most gosh-awful cd i've ever heard, well, actually I am. How did MLIFE suffer through this cd you ask? well it's quite simple. I was on a hot date (me being the latter of the hot, ARROGANCE!) and we were at morita point in my 88 Le Sabre and I'm really putting the moves on, the lady-friend says to me "Hey, I have a great cd you should hear, it's Russell Watson" I'm thinking to myself 'great, just another jabroni trying to be like J-LAW' (that's Joey Lawrences street name) so about 5 songs into it, and me almost losing my hearing from this piece of trash, I told my date "this cd is worse than the short lived UPN show The Mullets, it's like nails scratching on a chalkboard!" I then realized the girl I was with was under some kind of Dr. Phil demon spell, her eyes were glowing red like a demonic teletubby, so I took the cd out of my player, and gave it a karate chop similar to that of Ralph Macchios famous breaking the ice scene in KKII, I quickly put in some Night Ranger and the spell wore off, she couldn't have thanked me anymore, but she did, and the score was better than that of Bill Conti's and Zamphirs magical flute in KKI. This cd sucks, buy the Karate Kid soundtrack instead.

5 out of 5 stars You Raise Me Up.......2005-11-09

Even though I just listened to one song, I have to say it was brilliant, You Raise me Up was emotional and very well done on this cd, I still have yet to listen to the others since I just happened to come across Russell Watson.

1 out of 5 stars Music for your granny and girlfriend.......2005-11-03

You wanna know what's wrong with the music industry today?
    It is cross-over like this.

Watson is one of those singers whose voice is slightly too trained to sing Pop or Rock, but not good enough to sing real opera (Berg to Verdi to Mozart to Monteverdi, I mean).

    Trashy, schmaltzy, sentimental and kitsch.

I just can't imagine why people get so excited about singers like Russell Watson and his ilk.

    5 out of 5 stars Amore Musica.......2005-10-03

We have been great fans of Russell Watson, Ever since we purchased his DVD R W Live. Everyone we show this to, end up being his fans also. This is another great CD by a great singer.
You will be a fan also.!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Another average turn out.......2005-09-25

This like his other cd's displays a good club singer(the reason why living years is well done)putting on a horrible nasal sound and attempting to sing opera.for new italian/spanish stuff(like Caruso)check out Andrea Bocelli, for opera check out any of the greats Franco Corelli,Di Stefano,Gigle,Bjorling...or some new guys,,Alagna,Cura,Calleja,Carreras,Domingo,Pavarotti..and for ballads like i'll walk with God stick with Mario Lanza..but if you already like Russell watson based on his previous albums buy this,it was made for you,,,i wont be able to convince you he is very lucky and wouldnt get in the chorus with any of the opera house around the world

I have always liked the Musical Offering. That said, many people don't, finding it dry or "academic". If you fall into that category, this recording may change your mind. The playing is lively and most importantly, it focuses one's attention to the composition and interplay of the voices. I own four different versions of this work, and this recording is my favorite. Check it out!

5 out of 5 stars Musica Di Te.......2007-07-12

They just don't come any better than Alessandro Safina! He is the 24/7 background in my everyday musical life, and I own everything he has come out with. His selections of songs in every CD are absolutely beautiful, and I can't even speak Italian or any of the other languages he has mastered. But, I have to admit I prefer that to the english I speak and understand. Alessandro gives 110 percent, his all, to every song. They are packed with classic notes in his style and filled with the perfectly appropriate emotional touches. I am crazy about this wonderful voice, and I echo the sentiment that he just has to get into the homes of the American people. He will stand alone, he is not like Bocelli (whom I am very fond of), not like Josh Groban (another voice I revere in my vast musical collection), he is Alessandro Safina, the very finest to come along! Please take the privilege of discovering him, you won't be sorry.

1 out of 5 stars Same Old Thing.......2006-10-13

Alessandro Safina sings some new songs, but with a voice we have all heard before. One reviewer says that his voice is like Luciano Pavarotti. I say NO there are NO SIMILARITIES between Alessandro and Luciano. If you like Mario Frangoulis You will love Alessandro because they have the SAME VOICE JUST LIKE EVERY MALE "POPOERA SINGER" THIS CD IS NOT WORTH BUYING!!

5 out of 5 stars The one song that bugs me.......2006-10-08

I like this CD but not as much as the debut CD for the U.S. The one song that drives me nuts which I just have to fastforward is You Come To My Senses.

5 out of 5 stars Great Music and Singer.......2006-06-21

All I have to say is he is one of the best and so is song selection.

    5 out of 5 stars That's what I call Music.......2006-01-01

I recently discovered Alessandro Safina and the likes (Josh Groban, Mario Frangoulis, not to mention Andrea Bocelli). And ever since I've been addicted to this "pop opera" music, that I've been searching the internet like crazy for similar works by other artists. Alessandro's Musica Di Te and Insieme A Te are two of the best albums I've heard in years. I can bearly wait for his next release. For those who like this kind of music I recommend the works of Emma Shapplin, and also a play called "Atylantos" by Jean-Patrick Capdevielle. Enjoy.

If, as some suspect, Beelzebub has a soft spot for hard metal, he'll be delighted with Slayer's raucous return to form on the group's eighth album. With producer Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, Run-DMC) back at the helm, the thrash-metal pioneers have trimmed the excess flab that weighed them down in the early '90s. Back in evidence is the clinical speed, power, and aggression that once made them metal's most revered extremists. But while their trademark breakneck riffing remains, Slayer reaches beyond the old routines to pack a greater punch. "Love to Hate" harbors a fat hip-hop groove, "In the Name of God" toys malevolently with grunge-rock flavors, and "Point" concludes the 11-song set at just under 110 miles per hour. Diabolus in Musica is an emphatic resurrection--and then some. --Steffan Chirazi

this is an ok cd, ill listen to it if im bored or something, slayer isnt at all a really good band, but they did something here, they made there music sound ok, slayer is getting stronger.....

      2 out of 5 stars A pretty weak album - 2.5 stars .......2006-06-29

Slayer released Diablos in Musica in 1998. This is a decent thrash album, but definitely not up to Slayer's standards. Yeah, some people think Slayer sucks and they say they are over-rated. These people are entitled to their opinion. That being said, Diablos really is Slayers weakest album. Maybe Tom Araya was able to sing in 1988, but his singing 10 years later just ruins the music. His normal vocals are ok, but when he sings or tries a spoken word section, it really shows that he should stick with what he knows (if only James Hetfield took my advise; his voice makes me want to puke now). Songs like Death's Head, Stain of Mind, Love to Hate are probably the worst Slayer songs they wrote up to this point.

This is the Slayer album I listen to the least. There are song good songs: Bitter Peace, Overt Enemy, Scrum and Screaming From The Sky. Too bad the rest of the album is rather boring.

5 out of 5 stars 100% Solid Effort, Slayer's most creative work to date.......2006-06-13

After falling into a creative rut with Divine Intervention, Slayer desperately needed to put out new material to prove their relevancy. The band succeeded in their effort, releasing Diabolus in Musica, one of Slayer's finest works yet. Despite the unfortunate number of negative reviews, this album has it all for any true fan with an open mind: superb production (you can hear the bass-thank you Rick Rubin!!!), good lyrics (mostly dealing with war and other forms of violence, suffering) and a fresh approach to the guitar work courtesy of Hanneman and King. Do not be deceived: this is in NO way a "mainstream" or "sell out" effort. On the contray, it is one of their heaviest to date. Even one of the most common complaints about this album, the lack of speed, does not hold up; for while the album is certainly not as fast as Reign in Blood or Divine Intervention, it is ultimately no slower than South of Heaven or Seasons in The Abyss. For example, check out "Bitter Peace," a much stronger opening track than "Killing Fields" and IMHO an equal to "War Ensemble." Other outstanding tracks include "Death's Head," "Perversions of Pain," "Scrum" and "Point." Yet there really is no "filler" on this album. Each member shines: Hanneman and King continue their wild, off the wall riffs and solos, while at the same time exploring new tones and effects; Paul Bostaph proves once again that he is (or was) more than an andequate replacement for Lombardo, while Tom Araya is ultimately the showcase here, showing off (for once!) his bass chops and pushing the limits of his vocal stylings. At the end of the day, the genius of Diabolus is the (very limited) incorporation of contemporary heavy metal genres with an otherwise solid thrash foundation. One final note: Best album cover to date! Far better than the lame covers on Divine Intervention and God Hates Us All, while avoiding the cool, but overdone demonic artwork of earlier LPs.

2 out of 5 stars Slayer's WORST album (or their "least" inspired one).......2006-05-15

I'm gonna get some flak for this but I had to get it out: This is probably SLAYER's worst album. Maybe "worst" is being a bit too extreme; let's say it is their least inspired. After releasing the thrash masterpiece "Reign In Blood", many fans wondered where SLAYER would go next. So the band started to flirt with less screamed-out vocals and some slow songs for a change. "South Of Heaven" and the subsequent "Seasons In The Abyss" showed SLAYER maturing AND changing while still being loyal to thrash. The songs themselves became a bit more intricate and the melodies more memorable and even haunting. But drummer Dave Lombardo's exit and a 4 year hiatus made a lot of us fans wonder what was going to happen to the mighty SLAYER. In the interim, Death Metal took over and bands like CARCASS, ENTOMBED, MORBID ANGEL and DEICIDE were determined to steal SLAYER's extreme metal crown. So when their "comeback" album was released, all the progression and maturity shown on their 2 previous albums were flushed down the toilet in favor of a more stripped down sound. "Divine Intervention" tried to bring back "Reign In Blood" tactics along with a few melodies left over from "Seasons...". The album was more like a statement aimed at the new pretenders of extreme metal. This brings us to "Divine's" follow up, "Diabolus in Musica". Forget the frantic, unrelenting thrash of thier earlier albums. Forget the haunting and creepy melodies of "South of Heaven" and "Seasons...". What SLAYER gave us here were probably left overs from "Divine". It is clear that both, King and Hanneman were NOT particularly inspired while writing this album. "Bitter Peace" is an OK opener in typical SLAYER fashion and "Desire" tries to evoke the creepy melodies of "Seasons..." . Strummin as fast as you can on an open E string won't make you any heavier... even if you're using NU METAL's standard tuning (several pitches below standard tuning). The rest (and I feel REALLY bad in saying this) is "generic" to say the least.
A lot of metal fans give METALLICA a hard time for their musical experimentation but no one dares to say anything bad about SLAYER just because they never turned their amps down. Very few of the riffs you'll hear on "Diabolus in Musica" are particularly memorable and at times I even felt cheated by one of my all time favorite bands. You only have to see one of their current concert set lists to find out there AREN't any songs from this album (by the way, I saw them last year and they played ZERO tracks from this album...does that say anything???) ....maybe one.

5 out of 5 stars A very special recording indeed.......2007-02-17

Right from the start of "Mach dich auff, werde Liecht Zion", the first track on this album, I knew that I was going to love this magical recording. I bought this recording in 1990 and I have loved it very much ever since. I bought a copy and gave it away to a girlfriend in the early 1990s.

I return to this recording very often and I've been listening to it again recently. Like the Concerto Palatino recording of Heinrich Schütz' "Symphoniæ Sacræ I" on the ACCENT label, this recording is very special, sublime and powerful.

So what's the story? Well, the music comes from Johann Hermann Schein's Opella Nova II publication - sacred vocal "concerti" for voices, instruments and basso continuo. I guess it could be said that this kind of music would eventually be seen as an important part of the development of the German cantata form, which, obviously, culminated in the great cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann. Schein's music was clearly influenced by the Italian style and some of the works in the Opella Nova II publication owe a clear debt to the genius of Claudio Monteverdi. As a Northern European composer, Johann Hermann Schein had a good range of musical instruments available to him, we hear violins, cornetts, mute cornett, recorder, trombones, dulcian and a trumpet in this recording. The Opella Nova II also contained a work for two solo voices, three "Bombardons" (shawms?), choir and basso continuo. This work was not presented by Mr. Wilson and his Musica Fiata ensemble on this recording.
Johann Hermann Schein was clearly very sensitive to the timbres and expressive possibilities of the instruments he scored in these works. Schein combines instrumental sounds with voices in a very satisfying and interesting way in these works, too. In "Mach dich auff" we hear a cornett, descant recorder, mute cornett, violin and three trombones "encasing" the solo soprano and tenor voices and joying the cappella choir in the tutti sections. "Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott" is a "Sonata con voce", in much the same style as Monteverdi's and Crotti's "Sonata sopra Sancta Maria" and Giovanni Gabrieli's "Sonata sopra Dulcis Jesu à 20 voci". Schein uses two violins, a recorder, four trombones and basso continuo to play an extensive sonata, with the soprano singing a cantus firmus in various sections. "Herr, nun lest du deinen Diener im Friede fahren" features a bass soloist, two cornetti, bass dulcian and basso continuo. "Nun ist das Heyl" is, perhaps, one of the most interesting works on the disc, it features a solo male alto voice, sung by Rufus Müller here, accompanied by a cornetto, trumpet and three trombones.

        The solo singers are:
        Johanna Koslowsky, Martina Lins, soprano
        Rufus Müller, tenor/alto
        Wilfried Jochens, tenor
        Harry van der Kamp, bass
        Franz-Josef Selig, bass

The Rheinische Kantorei provide the choir for the ripieno/cappella section of the sacred concerti.

Musica Fiata (playing at Chorton pitch circa a' = 466 Hz)
Roland Wilson - cornett, mute cornett & recorder
        Hans-Peter Westermann - cornett, recorder
Friedmann Immer - cornett, Baroque trumpet in C
        Yuji Fujimoto - trombone
        Peter Sommer - trombone
        Robin Schwerdtfeger - trombone
        Richard Lister - trombone
        Michael McCraw - bass dulcian
        Anette Sichelschmidt - Baroque violin
        Ghislaine Wauters - Baroque violin
        Hartwig Groth - violone
        Christoph Lehmann - organ, spinett
        Stephen Stubbs - chitarrone, organ

        Direction: Roland Wilson

This recording was the first and best solo recording featuring a mute cornett that I ever heard. It encouraged me to devote much more time to my own mute cornetts (I own two cornetti muti), an instrument for which I have a deep love. Listen to "Uns ist ein Kind geboren" or "Also heilig ist der Tag" to hear Mr. Wilson playing solos on his mute cornett on this recording. I played my own mute cornett in a performance of "Uns ist ein Kind geboren" in Melbourne, Australia, in the early 1990s as a result of my inspiration from this recording.

This recording isn't easy to obtain now. However, I cannot recommend this recording too highly, it is, as I said before, very special.
