There seem to be a lot of greatest hits collection of Sergio Mendes that frankly aren't ... but this qualifies. If you love old school 60's bossa nova-fun trip hop-easy listening and sunny pop, this is a great collection - these are really their greatest hits ... though the 2-disc "Very Best of Sergio Mendes & Brazil 66 [IMPORT]" (also from Amazon) also contains all these tracks plus another 20 or more tracks so if you love Sergio, that is an even better deal!

This album is well conceived (it could use some suggestions for Volume 2 though) with a balanced mix of modern and vintage Brazilian Jazz; some of the most recent cuts are:
* Mas que Nada/Leo Gandelman, * Bananeira/Bebel Gilberto, * Un Homme et une Femme/Ithamara Koorax, * Orfeu/.
Some of those great classics from the past are:
* Influencia do Jazz/Tamba Trio, *Batida Diferente/Sergio Mendes and * Amor de Nada/Luis Carlos Vinhas.
Overall, this CD is extremely enjoyable and I would absolutely recommend it to all those serious fans of Brazilian Jazz out there.

great compilation.......2007-02-14

a collection of songs from her days with "Return to Forever" and some solo work. finally a clear pristine version of "Angels" featuring some Earth Wind and Fire members. Flora Purim and also Urszula Dudziak made a great impression on me during my teen years in the 1970's. somebody took the time to compile this album which is representive of a true great vocal jazz artist.
